Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
The first spinoff sold pretty decently on Nintendo 3DS. Do you think Nintendo could come up with a follow up to Happy Home Designer on Nintendo Switch? And if you think so, what could be done to improve the player's experience?
i kinda think nintendo was toying with this idea in the pocket camp update that added the happy home minigame. you get the best points with the assigned items, but there are often other items that can get you pretty high (even 3-medal) scores. i never played happy home designer because the reviews put me off.
if they made gameplay more rewarding, added more player-to-player interaction, and maybe even allowed more customization it would be neat!
I feel like releasing a seperate game for it wouldn't really sell on Switch?
Maybe they could release a Happy Home Designer DLC pack for 20 dollars for New Horizons. I think that could work? You'll just have the normal game and then also a Happy Home Designer bit.

Not sure if I would buy it, I mean overall HHD was ok, but I lost pretty quick the interest in this game.
Depends of how much new options and content a 'HHD 2' would offer, I would maybe buy it. Then again,
I actually like that idea of this being a DLC for NH.
tbh, I'd be surprised if the basic feature in happy home designer of "design/decorate villager houses" wasn't a part of the main game in new horizons
though hopefully not right away. perhaps something like early in they might ask for your help on where to place a new item they got, but later on at max friendship they may ask you for a full makeover using any combination of all the items they have. plus you could use items in your own inventory as well to spice things up even more
and since we know villagers start with tents now, them wanting your help in designing their house's exterior doesn't sound too farfetched either. especially if they can and will get house upgrades over the course of the game as well. though I'd imagine for the animals it'd still stay as a singular room, just that they'd get it 8x8 at most. could be proven wrong, of course
I'm not sure there's much that could be added/improved to the game other than villagers and items that would warrant a second one. Regardless I'd still buy it and play it haha
I think if they made it, they'd just make it based on New Horizons this time and that'll be the only difference. I can see them doing it, but unless they made it more goal oriented and added more things to do, I don't think it'd get more than 2 weeks worth of play from me.
If they improved it yes. Add actual rewards, grading, etc on the homes. I'd like to see smth where just opening what they want from their boxes and doing nothing else auto fails you. I'd love to have ranking, and compete with people online for best ranking. Maybe make snooty and cranky villagers WAY more picky. I dunno just make it harder??? The game was to easy.
I think it would be better as purchasable DLC rather than a full game. But if they were to make a sequel, they should do the following:
1. Let the character design his/her house.
2. Add a grading system, which is based on what they want in their house, what they don’t want, and how you place the items.
3. Make the contests as in developer favorites rather than popularity contests, and remove regional bias.
Happy Home Designer was fun for quite a while, but it had its problems like every other game.
Depends if they would improve the game in some ways. I may be interested in a sequel if it offers
more than the first one. Otherwise, I don't care that much for another Happy Home Designer game.
But I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo making another one for the Switch.
I assume a huge amount of the HHD features will be included already in New Horizons. So I'm not sure if it would be even worth it to make another HHD title for the Switch. Overall, I wouldn't be interested in it, as I wasn't such a big fan of the first one and would rather play the new main title instead.
