Are You Ready for the Nintendo Switch 2?

i'm VERY ready for the successor but i probably won't buy it until something really interests me comes out or another animal crossing is announced. i was the same way with the switch, i really had no interest to have one until ACNH came out.

Honestly I'm good and ready for a new switch but I'm worried about the cost. Switch games are already like 80+ bucks in Canada so I can't imagine how much a switch 2 game will be. With tax, some of the games come to like $89. If Nintendo releases a new animal crossing I'll probs buy it though

I don't see the next Animal Crossing game as a launch title, but considering how well NH sold, it would make sense for Nintendo to go that route for the Switch successor, given that it has been in development for a while without us knowing. Realistically, I would see the latest Zelda game and something tied to whatever new feature is introduced with the console itself (a la Wii Sports) coming out at launch, followed by the next Mario 3D platformer game not long after.

Not even close! I still have a crazy back log to go through on the Switch as it is. Plus, like someone already mentioned, all we have about the Switch successor are a bunch of rumors. I don't care about rumors, I wanna know about the facts!

With how outdated the Switch’s hardware is and how difficult it is for developers to port newer multiplatform games on it I think it’s smart for Nintendo to move on. I do hope there’s backwards compatibility on the new system to keep the Switch’s library alive longer.

I think it will be another hybrid like the Switch, but have an extra gimmick with it. Kinda like what the 3DS was for the regular DS. Price wise I think it will be $350-$400 in the U.S. on launch. Power wise I think it will be in between the base PS4 and PS4 Pro.

I think the Switch was too successful for it to be discontinued right away. I imagine some smaller first party games and indie games will still be released on it for a few more years even after the new console’s launch, although they will be less frequent than in the past.

Personally I won’t purchase it on launch year unless there’s an exclusive I really want like a new Mario Kart, 3D Mario, or Animal Crossing game. Nintendo consoles usually have tiny libraries for a while after release and I’d rather not have another situation of having a brand new Nintendo console that I only use for one game again for the first several months after purchase (like the Switch). I don’t want to deal with the hardware issues many launch day consoles have either.

I hope Nintendo improves their online service, the personality of the U.I, and the method of letting people play retro games in the future as I think all of those those things held the Switch back from being among my favorite consoles. I enjoyed my time with the system a lot, but I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed in some areas.

definitely ready for a new console lol. a lot of games lag horribly on the current one, and my lite has drift that can't be fixed so i rarely play it anymore. not sure if i'll get the new console at launch though, i didn't even get my lite until NH released. so, either i'll wait for the next AC game or pokemon ZA depending on how good it looks and if it releases on the new console like people are assuming. also hoping the switch 2 is backwards compatible, that'd definitely be nice.

Ima let my bank account answer for me:

I can't see myself really getting a new one, I haven't been able to save for ages.
I can understand from other point of views that a newer console could help some games that have problems now, it just feels fustrating how much a whole console will be, and I rather wait till I hear how the change from this switch to a new console will be handled.

They did it pretty well when it was the old DS and 3DS, 3DS;s could still play physcial older games despite the card being different.

truthfully, i don't have much desire to get the switch successor. i really like my oled switch and i have no reason to replace it right now. i might consider it if there is another animal crossing game and it's actually decent, but if it's similar to new horizons then i honestly might pass. i don't really like new horizons all that much when i start thinking about how little they actually put into the game compared to previous ones.

This 100%. I really hate the fact that many of the retro games are locked behind a premium subscription service, especially N64 titles. I'd much rather just buy the games I want outright and play them online or not, like what Sony offers with their retro catalogue for the PS5. They don't have to be physical cartridges, but I want to have the sense that I own a game and not think about whether or not the game I'm currently playing will eventually get taken down someday because of an expiring subscription or something else. While a single subscription for the entire retro library may seem great for some, it sort of isn't for me.

Not really. I still have the original switch before even the revision came out to make the battery longer lasting. Somehow it's still hanging on. I plan on upgrading to an OLED within the next 6 months though so I don't really care about a successor.

I've been out of the loop when it comes to game new or just about any news lol. Has anything concrete been announced yet? I know for the longest time people kept making up rumors or having certain words trend on social media, but it never amounted to anything. 2027 will be 10 years when the Switch first released so it definitely is getting up there in age and when they do usually announce a new system. The Switch had a good run.

kinda,,, hoping i'll use this one more because i forget that i own my lite very easily LMAO but i am so looking forward to it <:

eh... I'm excited but not ready. it feels like it hasn't been a long time since the switch launched, and I feel like the reason is the COVID-19 pandemic has warped my sense of time for the past few years. I say I have a huge backlog of games I still need to complete, but honestly I haven't played as regularly as the lockdown / pandemic days. 😅 what made me jump to buy the 3DS XL and the switch was getting the respective animal crossing games. therefore, I think I won't be purchasing the switch successor at release because it will probably be some time until we hear news of a release date for the new horizons successor... unless there is a game that I'm itching to buy. we'll see!

my launch year switch is definitely ready but my bank account…..😭 i should really consider starting to save up for the switch 2 so that it’s not as much as a shock when it’s actually released. i did end up the acnh edition switch which i only really use to play acnh, but i’ve been holding off on getting an oled switch to replace my launch year switch because it’s so late in the console’s life span 🤔 i’ll probably continue holding off cause it feels like we’ll hear more about the switch’s successor soonish?

I'm ready, I'm excited for it because of the potential new games it could bring. I hope it's backwards compatible as I have games to play yet but it won't be a deal breaker for me

Eh... It took so long for the Switch to become a console of its own and not just a Wii U port machine. Quite a few years there early on that didn't do much for me. So, TBH, I'm not thrilled for the idea of a new system that will take forever to get much of anything of worth on it. It'll probably get ONE exclusive early on that will be must-have (like Super Mario Odyssey for me on the Switch) but then slack off for a couple of years. I hope I'm wrong. It's just been a trend with Nintendo systems for a while.

I plan to not want, or be interested in the Switch 2, unless it’s backwards compatible with current switch games. I have an OLED, so I’m already upgraded. I can’t imagine what other features I’d need or want other than my bigger screen. I actually do notice a difference when I play on my ACNH switch. Never expected to!

Noooooo I don't think I am ready for the Nintendo switch 2 :( I know its not but in a way I feel like its too soon..

I'm not ready lol. I understand why a new one needs to come out, but I never buy consoles at launch these days since they're so expensive, so I will be holding onto my Switch until the next AC comes out. If it was a launch title, oof... I'd still probably wait, but be very disappointed.

my poor little switch lite is on his last legs so in that sense i'm ready, but i think it really depends on how they approach it. with how much stuff is still coming out on the switch, i'm hoping there'll be backwards compatibility of games between the two because otherwise, like people have said, there won't be a point in me buying it until there's a specific title that i'm after. i am, however, really excited to hear about it in general so i'm hoping for news sooner rather than later... a release in time for my birthday/christmas would also be lovely but i think that's too much wishful thinking
