How many of you have had annoying neighbors? What have your neighbors done that annoyed you? Is there anything you do that annoys your neighbors?

I've lived many places and I've had a lot of annoying neighbors.

Since I've lived on my own (so not with my parents) I've had:
*neighbors who brought bed bugs into our apartment complex and didn't tell anyone until the infestation spread to all apartments in the building
*neighbors who blast their music so loud you can't even hear yourself think, and then call you crass words when you stop by and ask them to turn it down
*most recently I have neighbors who do not leash their dog and scream when it runs off which is each time they let it out, at least 3 times a day. Morning, noon, and night.

I try to be courteous. I won't vacuum or run the laundry machine before 9am. I keep my music very low or use headphones. I try to step lightly since I'm not on the bottom floor and I'm polite when I do talk to my neighbors.

How about you all? Do any of you have any annoying neighbor stories to share?

Yeah. Our upstairs neighbors leave their dog outside on the balcony when they are home. It's 36 F (2 C) right now. Why even bother owning an animal if you are just going to leave it outside all day when you are home. Can't wait to move out of this trash apartment complex coming a few days from now.

The neighbor above me wears heels ALL THE TIME. And our apartments are all wooden floors (although I bought some throw rugs to muffle our footsteps) so it's really annoying xD I have to say that the person with the dog is more annoying though. I think the person upstairs just wears heels to work/going out and goes out a lot so she (he??) doesn't even think about the noise they make on the floor.

everyone here low key squidward

Squidward knows what's up. He's kinda pompous sometimes but honestly I would not want Spongebob or Patrick as neighbors and I would be super depressed working the counter at a fast food place. His life is kind of a nightmare so I get where he's coming from.

I've had neighbors upstairs that would scream. slam doors, and throw things at each other when they got into arguments. One night in particular, I was trying to sleep because I had a morning shift, and they were screaming and slamming things extra loud. Suddenly it stops, and about 20 minutes later, there's a cop at the door. The cop says WE'RE making too much noise (I was trying to sleep, and my fiance was on his computer) according to the upstairs people. I inform him that we've called the police several times about our neighbors because our landlord won't do anything, and they've been slamming stuff all night. I was pretty mad because it was already midnight and I need to be up at 8, and it takes SOO long for me to fall asleep.
But now there's a cool old guy who's super quiet above us and it's wonderful.

My neighbours themselves aren't that bad but their god damn DOG does not shut up and it usually makes my own dog act up because she's really protective and thinks he's starting trouble but really he's just a dumbass

I had some pretty terrible neighbours when I lived in new york. In my first apartment my neighbours were not bad but my room was right next to the backyard of a chinese restaurant, so the chef would always come out and yell really loudly on the phone or to his coworkers during their break. In the apartment I moved to 2 years later I had really noisy upstairs neighbours that always threw parties and would make the roof and my shelves shake. The guy above him ran an airbnb so I could hear every time someone came in lugging their giant suitcases up the stairs. I lived in the living room and our walls are paper thin, so I could hear everything basically. u_u

Now I live in a condo in malaysia. It's nice for the most part since I can't hear **** from my room, but when in the living room you can hear the neighbour's kids playing and screaming in the hallway. Sometimes they bark at my room mate's dog and rile her up it's extremely irritating.

I think one of my neighbors at my old house was crazy. She tried going into our house through our second floor balcony (our balconies were only a couple feet apart) to ask for some cooking ingredients (obviously bullcrap). She also came to our house (through the front door this time) with a bag of pennies and asked my dad to drive her to the bank even though we've never had any relation to her other than our houses being next to each other. I'm so glad we moved away to a better neighborhood full of quiet older people.

1. I had a neighbor screaming all day long after her teen daughter until that one hanged herself in the basement.

2. I have neighbors who took the place of neighbor 1 (just crazy families lived in that house) that yell at each other most of the day in their driveway, the husband treats his family like crap then do the caterpillar on the lawn because too drunk to walk.

3. I had neighbors driving their motocycle around the house naked. There were 3, 2 women and some big hairy guy, seemed like they were all dating each other.

4. I had a passive agressive neighbor who hated nature but chose to live in the woods. He was making war to leaves and flowers everyday. He cut branches of our trees without permission and emptied his ashtray on our lawn. His daughter was screaming all day long and entered in our house or the one of other neighbors without permission either, once the phone of one neighbor was ringing so she entered in his house by the patio door to pick up the phone.

5. I had strippers as neighbors, they lived all together for some reasons and spent summer topless in their yard. They didn't cause problem apart turning my grandpa blind.

6. I have a neighbor now that must be over 60 and like wandering around in g-string. Pretty much harmless, but his son or grandson is a public danger in car and has the bad habit to climb on the roof when drunk with his friends and being loud until 3am even if it's a week day.

7. I have neighbors who think it's okay to play with fireworks any day at any hour.

8. I have neighbors that call the police every time they hear fireworks or a dog barking.

9. I have one neighbor that like to burn dead leaves when others hanged their laundry outdoor.

10. I have neighbors that are shy to mow their lawn at the same time, so they do it one at time, the noise starts generally around 10 am on Saturday and finishes around 7pm.

I live in a very nice place surrounded by nature and the view is great. I dream to go out on the balcony with a drink and a good book while the sun sets, but after 5 min. of noisy neighbors I prefer to get back in the house.

I lived in the second-floor half of a duplex, and there was an unemployed middle-aged woman that lived below me. And my landlord thought it'd be a good idea to, without my permission, pass my phone number along to said woman, just in case she needed to talk to me about neighborly problems.

So, yeah. Lots of threatening calls (I should say voice-mails) about noise I wasn't making, music I wasn't playing, and running I apparently managed to do while I was sitting on a couch.

My mum's old neighbour was a complete *****, left her toddler unattended for hours. Always made we wonder why you'd even have a kid if you're just gonna be a **** excuse for a mother. Our next door neighbours are okay, but they're loud old people, quite judgemental and make a helluva racket hanging up and taking down their washing.

Well our landlords were our neighbours, since they lived above us. Before we moved in, they said we would be allowed to use their laundry once a week. Anyway, when we did move in, they suddenly told us that we had to give them our laundry to wash! There were no laundromats close by so we had no choice. They would then not alert us when the laundry was done. They would just leave it outside.. Whether it was raining, or we weren't home. Also, they would do the laundry after midnight and the machines were just on the other side of our wall where our bed was. They said it should be "a calming noise" to help us sleep. But then if we did anything at all at night, they would knock on our door angrily. For example, if we dropped something by accident, they would call and say "WHAT WAS THAT?" They told us we weren't allowed to shower at night because the shower was too loud. But my boyfriend worked in construction and got home late a lot, so was he just supposed to sleep in filth from the construction site?? Or if we got hungry and decided to cook they would bang on the windows and doors saying, "I SMELL SOMETHING IS THAT A FIRE??" They also gave my guests dirty looks when a friend would visit or my family came over. Like we weren't allowed to have anyone over.. Then they tried to kick us out with less than a month's notice, saying that her son wanted to move into our suite. So we left and sued her because that wasn't legal. You're supposed to get 2 months notice, and if the tenants leave in less than that time, then they have to be reimbursed the total amount of rent. We could have actually gotten more because they lied about the reason why they were kicking us out, but my boyfriend didn't want to extend the time we had to deal with it. If it were up to me though, I would have given them grief for as long as possible.

I had some really annoying neighbors where I last lived, where we lived our backyard shared a fence with one of our really good friend(we actually built a gate between our fences so we could sneak over into her yard to hang out without going all the way around the neighborhood) but right next to her, so diagonal from us was the most annoying family ever, every single weekend they blasts mariachi music and were always screaming, breaking bottles, etc it was really really annoying. But what really took the cake is one night, NIGHT, at like 9pm they decided it was a perfect time to use a chainsaw to chop down their tree... BUT little did we know until the next morning that the ENTIRE tree was knocked into OUR YARD. All day nobody came over from their house to apologize, or ask to take the tree out, it just sat there all day long until we went over to their house and knocked and told them, "hey so your entire tree is in our yard, you need to come take care of it." So they came over, like an hour later some dude with his kid and a wheelbarrow and chopped up the tree in our backyard and took the big chunks but left leaves and bark everywhere, cause it was a full on tree, and when they left I saw that there was a nest with broken eggs in it and it pissed me off even more, it was a really tall tree and these really pretty song birds lived in it and after they chopped the tree they never came back... it was just horrible all around, they didn't even apologize they just came and got the tree and left...

Generally been pretty lucky with neighbours. Although for a while I lived by people who insisted on leaving their car hanging over my drive...and with cars parked right across the street it was a massive pain getting on or off my own property.
Anyway, they moved in the end thankfully.

My room mates are okay, they're noisy at times but generally they're quite respectful of the rest of us so I can't really complain (although they can be really messy / dirty at times so it's a pain to deal with considering I don't like to leave my mess anywhere that'll inconvenience them).

However, the other people in this apartment - not so much. The flat directly next to us are so loud. Sometimes they just start drinking in the corridor and start screaming and yelling to each other. Their corridor leads back onto ours (but there's a door that seperates us) but they are so so so noisy, so much so even my room mates on the other end of the corridor can hear them. We can hear conversations they are having sometimes. We've shoved notes under the door before only for them to just laugh and start yelling obscenities loudly about us saying "We do this every week" (we've only told them twice to be quiet because one of my room mates had an exam the next day). Honestly they're the worst. Also we do get people playing music really loudly on the floors below us sometimes and we're right on the top floor so I can't imagine how loud it must be when you go further down. I just can't wait to move out of here, I like my room and my flat's okay but it's annoying to deal with because people are so inconsiderate at times.

8 years ago i used to live in this place where the neighbours would argue non-stop. one of them broke another's finger
there was this kid called spencer who was a dick to everyone
there was also this old hag who was really mean to me because i laughed at something

present:
moved somewhere else but the neighbours are still ass
partying whenever they feel like it
leaving their cats outside to cry
leaving their dogs outside the garden to whine
leaving garbage outside
nasty old buggers

i was that neighbour people hated it for making way too much noise. now im quiet as can be and all my neighbours are annoying.
the ones on the right hate us. they damaged my dads car and didnt want to pay for it after they admitted it to the police. the neighbours next to them have kids and they would make way too much and then the parents would yell at them so if you would be out in your backyard in the summer you could always hear them yelling at their kids while their kids were being annoying and making so much noise. now they are more quiet but new neighbours across the street with so much kids that again make alot of noise in the summer and i can hear them even with my window closed ugh. while currently writting this i hear some stupid music in the far distance with a terrible beat. i dont know who they are but i certainly hate them now too.

This current place I live in is the best place I've ever lived as far as neighbors go. It helps that some of my neighbors are pretty much never home. Like one is a flight attendant so is flying all around the world a lot and thus rarely here. It's great!

Previous places sucked though in various ways:
- THE SIRENS! I lived close to a hospital in Japan. I got woken up by ambulances almost every single night, and you'd hear them go by constantly. Oh, and the bousozoku (Japanese biker gangs) who would drive by revving at 3am every Saturday night. Thanks, guys.
- One previous place I lived I heard gun shots fired a few times. Yeah.
- Another previous place I lived had people having loud arguments in the hallway about drugs.
- The last place I lived had tons of neighbors with kids. Kids who their parents wouldn't do anything about when they misbehaved. These kids would be constantly running around screaming in the apartment or out in the hallway of the building. They'd bang on my door and run away laughing. They'd leave trash everywhere, making the place look like a dump.
- The first place I lived when moving out of my parents' house there was a neighbor with dogs who would let their dogs pee on the bushes in front of the apartment building. It made it impossible to walk into the building without smelling pee on the way.

I've got lots of stories about neighbors.
