Any hope for new breeds

I would like official sloth villagers, bats (imagine literal fruit bats I think the AC style could make then cuter than they already are irl), sharks, and maybe more octopi? Idk I just want more new species, or more villagers for the less populated species instead of like 10 more cats lol.

Yes it would be extremely similar! I seriously adore the anteaters in ACNL tho :3

As much as I'd love to see some cute fox villagers, there has been zero overlap between villager species and the species of special characters so far, which makes me highly doubt we will ever see foxes, turtles, otters, hedgehogs, etc. as regular villagers.

Armadillos might be nice to get and they're not yet taken by special characters.

I would love bats, they are cute as heck. Pangolins are a big ol' YES from me.
I would love some of the lower populated species to get some more members, but one thing I really want is more reptiles and water creatures.
I mean, mammals, so, so many mammals. Birds have several species - eagles, chickens, ducks, ostrichs, penguins and just other birds.
Reptiles get alligators.
Amphibians have frogs
There are octopi for sea creatures.
These animal classes are so lacking compared to mammals and birds and I would love some more because I love reptiles so much. Snakes pls, lizards pls. I would adore a monitor lizard villager that walks around the size of a frog or hamster villager but the long neck the size of a horse's.

Everyone wants bats, but I agree - bats would be the best, especially if they only emerged from their homes after sundown! Even better would be if they made them as small and round as the hamster villagers.

Another species I would love would be weasels. Like, weasels, alongside ferrets, minks, otters. Just make them as tall as the ostrich villagers! It would be so cute.

This, lol. I'm glad I read some of the comments before commenting myself because this is what I want oof. I doubt it'll happen just because I haven't seen a huge demand for those animals but I just??? They'd be so perfect and cute. ;o; I know Lottie and Lyle already exist so I mean, even if they didn't make more otters I really think weasels and ferrets would be neat? (Also really like pine martens haha ;; ).

I think that having more mythical creatures would be really cool too! I adore Julian, Drago, and Phoebe and I'm such a sucker for mythological creatures so I definitely wouldn't complain if they added more hehe.

Soooo .... out of the tortured recesses of my imagination ... as I was playing around dreaming up an imaginary bird species and imagining interactions with existing villagers like Apollo (my favourite from my very first days on Animal Crossing ) I dreamed up a tropical bird that I have named Macawber
I thought it would be fun to share, and hope to see other ideas of new species art ... it?s fun to dream right? I know it?s not real, but still fun to imagine ... March 20 2020 seems so far away when we will get the true story

It was no new villager personalities, not villagers themselves...So the possibility of a few new types of animals is still possible. (And in nl, the new personalities were uchi and smug)

I really hope Nintendo has a bunch of new breeds. Would love to see a wider amount of options. It would give Nintendo the opportunity to get more amiibo made for sale during the release.

New Leaf also introduced deer villagers (as well as the two new personalities you mentioned).
