• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

Are you going to Time Travel?

No I'm not. I find it more rewarding to wait out for things to be built and happen over time. Besides there are plenty of other things to do in the meantime. :)

Always have, always will.

If it gets to the point where I'm done with my daily tasks in under a few hours, then I just go ahead and skip to the next day, rinse and repeat. I'm going to get bored of the game eventually, so why not soak up the fun instead of just dragging it out?

We all have our preferred play styles; mine just happens to be a lot more fast-paced than most.

I won't be. I like to play it day by day, it makes my town feel more real. :)

TT would just make me bored of the game quicker.

I don't hold it against people who do time travel, but I think they're missing out on a real-time experience that very few games have to offer. Everyone has their own schedule and enjoy playing the game in different ways. I personally find the game much more enjoyable played at its intended pace.

I time travelled ahead to 9am on release night so I could actually do some stuff, and then set it back to normal when I went to bed.

I don't plan to time travel, per se, but I have set my time to 12 hours behind, mainly because I work all day and can only play at night, so I'd miss celebrations, festivals, tournaments, etc otherwise. Since I set the time when I created the village and am just leaving it there, I don't consider that to be TT.

I never time travel, as I prefer the concept of day to day real time. But if you want to time travel yourself thats fine. : -)

The most I will do is jump a few hours into the future to complete a day's work or participate in an event if I know real life will prevent me from doing so at the correct time. The way I see it, I paid good money for this game (and system, since I got the bundle) and I'm not going to prevent myself from enjoying it to the fullest if I can help it. I don't like jumping days or weeks ahead though, because I do enjoy having the game sync up with real life as much as possible. But some days, brief time travel trips to the future are unavoidable.

I already have, just to get Kicks and Shampoodle (my impatience made me), but other than that I'm not doing it anymore. But I haven't gone to any special events or racked up any bells. Personally I don't see any problem with TTing; I get bored really easily..and I'm a bit impatient.

I time travel with rules.
1) I am not allowed to travel to specific days for holidays, contests or special visitors.
2) I cannot travel to another month, only within a week of the days date.
3) I must talk to all the townsfolk I want to keep prior to bigger time jumps.
4) My game clock can never change time of day but will always be set 2.5 hours earlier than it actually is, since I work so late during the week. (I know I could use the midnight owl ordinance but I love the flower one too much. I breed hybrids in a field North of my house.)

It makes the game more fun for me. I won't travel once I get it established how I like, but for now, it helps me to get it to where I like it. ^_^(''') As long as you're having fun, it shouldn't matter! You just need to be honest about it and respect those who wait. This sounds like a virginity discussion...x3

I wasn't going to time travel, but I ended up doing it.

It wasn't so much about getting shops, more about getting rid of certain villagers... but after getting change the date over and over, only one villager moved away. She wasn't one of the ones that I was desperate to get rid of, just one of the villagers that I was feeling neutral about. I still don't know how I feel about the new villager since he is still unpacking. Talked to him and he seemed funny, which is nice... (most of my other villagers are either ugly or bland or both.)

I don't think that I'll time travel anymore. I got Kicks and Shampoodle so there really isn't a reason for me to time travel. I do have a strange schedule... I wake up in the afternoon and go to sleep in the morning, but that's alright, there are more things to do in New Leaf in the night time anyway :)

Personally, I know it will ruin my overall enjoyment of the game. So I won't. If you can do it and feel that you won't be impacting your experience, go for it.

... but I couldn't possibly care less what others do since it has absolutely zero impact on my experience.

Now wouldn't it be great if people would apply your statement to real life issues? Lol.

Umm...hilarious.

I'm determined not to because I don't want to rush everything and get bored of the game too quickly but I was really tempted to earlier today. I just wanted to keep playing! lol

It's just a case of morals really, haha. Some say its cheating, others dont. Some say it's an 'exploit', other's dont.

Depends on the person :)

Exactly. If you bought the game soley to smack a hammer down on it or use it as decor in your fish tank, it doesn't make any difference to us, so why would time traveling. It depends on the person. Now, if this were a competitive game, and time traveling got you ahead or more points or whatever when you would compete with someone, then yes I am sure we would have an issue with that, but that is the beauty of AC and why we all love it so much ;).

Isn't anyone afraid of disrupting the SPACE-TIME-CONTINUUM?!

My theory is... that bird above is actually the player but stuck in an Infinite Time Loop- trying to recall his mission to stop you from EVER Time Traveling!

Are there no Lost fans here? =)

HAHA! Is it sort of like Smigel/Gollum with the ring? LOL

I did but only so that i finally get out of my tent and get a basic house, but i dont plan to again :3

No. I was an avid time traveler in GC/WW, though for New Leaf, it didn't really require any forethought.

I wanted this game to last a long time, and I knew that time traveling - while rewarding for the first few weeks - can easily cause me to lose a good amount of interest in the game after just two months or so. If other people can find longterm enjoyment out of it, then more power to them, but I'd rather be patient and get as much as I can get out of this playthrough.

In Animal Crossing GC/WW, if you were bored of the day and felt you had done all you wanted, you didn't have many options rather than turn it off and start it up again later. It was a very "check-up now and then" based kind of a game once you got the town on its feet.

In New Leaf, there is so much to do; talking to villagers, plenty of planning for your house and public works on top of making bells from fishing, catching bugs, etc... not to mention all other the brand new features and aesthetics.

If none of that appeals to you, visit the island or another person's town. I can't imagine wanting to change the day because, unlike a few weeks into AC:GC or AC:WW, I'll feel like I really missed something if I do.

I want to earn the shops and new villagers with honest endeavors and patience as the reward will be twice as sweet.

I don't myself but I don't frown upon it for others, as long as we're all having fun! :'D
It's really interesting to visit other towns and see in the future how big it can get. I'm really excited over the potential of change down the line.

I haven't played an Animal Crossing in years so this slow and steady pace is keeping me from making mistakes too.
