At a Crosswords [Solutions Posted]

5A still doesn't make sense to me. I know it's referencing the in game halloween event but the clue just doesn't match? Unless 'sure as shadows' as a saying is something that appears in games pre-NL/NH era...

I'm not too salty though since I successfully bruteforced the two letters for the code. It took me an hour in case anyone is curious.

@Flyffel I think 8A was ‘tragedies’ - it’s a quote from Sahara, I could work out who it was but not what the word was so I filled up my pockets and then tried to buy something from her on Harvs Island and that was what she said
Well RIP. I would have checked these parlors if I had any of them unlocked lol.

Hmmm... I found that quote with Google quite fast.

Soooo... I assume I got 8 across wrong because I'm sure about everything else... (the red was added later than the rest).

Also here are the answers for the first one for anyone who is curiously waiting:

Thank you for posting! You guys are so smart, I would've only gotten two from the second one. For the first one, I swore I checked all the fossils but clearly I missed one lol. The Mitten Crab and Coins ones I would've never gotten.

Even now when I run the exact phrase through google all I get is results about fish shadows. Nothing to do with Halloween, lollipops or Jack. Beginning to think my google just doesn't like me. 😅

Does anyone know what 3A for round 2 was? It was the only answer I couldn’t get and just kept trying letters until the code was accepted. Google was no help 😔

This was my cheat sheet (HERE) I used for the second crossword after stumbling upon it in a Reddit thread (HERE)

Under the 'TalkSNpc' I literally opened all of the characters, which showed all the dialogues for the NPC characters that were special (non-villagers) and then I 'control+F' for the dialogue.

8A is indeed "Tragedies"

^ Like above, I found an entire script here for everything said in ACNH. (Only found it/used it for "tragedies" though.)

Great job to everyone who didn't use google though, extremely impressive! :)
I did come across both of those posts, but I didn’t know how to read through the codes. Lol

Any tips on how to read them?

I didn't even think to look for the entire dialogue list, wow. That's so smart!

I used Google primarily for the first one and YouTube for the second to figure out most of them. Though, for the second, I had to make some educated guesses for tragedies, Timmy, bunny, and family, but it seemed to work out. Yay, brain!

I had to solve with a combination of google search, youtube videos, playing in english (literally filled my pockets and spoke to everyone until I found 8A) and a bit of luck guessing. 😂

@corlee1289 @Jhine7 Thanks for sharing dialogue resources!!

For mine, I downloaded the zip folder, extracted the text file, and then used "ctrl+f" to search key words (basically the other words in the quote) to find what I was looking for.

All I did was open all the possible subheadings under the TalkSNpc, so you had a lot of opened text.

From there, I did 'control+F' and looked for parts of the other phrases in the crossword

So for example, once I opened all the subheadings, I control+F "the crew may be" and it highlighted those words and the missing words was FLIGHTLESS

For 5A, I actually went on a crossword website help to look for the answer. The word was 8 letters long with an O and a P in the right area. One of the answers was LOLLIPOP and then I went: HANG ON A SECOND! IS IT YOU, JACK?! IS IT?

Then went on a Youtube video to watch dialogue from Jack to see if he said it and it was indeed lollipop.

Since it's AC related it should be about something you can do in the game in autumn but not winter. So yeah, basically I looked through all critters that were catchable in November but not December and the mitten crab fits in the crossword. 🦀😅

Catchable critters hadn't even crossed my mind. I was thinking it was items I could get in fall but not winter so I was totally off the mark lol

I just procrastinated too long. I’d work on CW2 for a bit and then get distracted. ESPECIALLY when spirit tree #10 came out. That one took my entire life away in searching. By sat night I only had 4. Once Sunday hit, I put the pedal to the metal and got to work. I guessed on 3A, 4A, and was unsure whether 1D was Digby, Timmy or Tommy.

Yeah, no I would never had gotten mittencrab at all. Same for Timmy or Bunny, With Timmy, I wouldn't have chosen because I thought, well it's both Timmy & Tommy's shop. And I had no idea on who the dialogue was from.

Man, I was so close too~! ;_; I even finally got Triobites after finding the dialogue for each game when he talks about them.

this was my exact source too, though in my case I found it via some youtube video

bless whoever compiled this (even if it seems to of sadly been abandoned in the middle of nh's update life cycle)

Is there a way to do control+f on the phone? I thankfully knew I was looking for Saharah, so that made it easier to find. (I noticed some of the labels were just abbreviations of animals, so I was looking for something like camel and it ended up being “cml”.) But my life would be so much easier if I were more tech savvy and knew/memorized these shortcuts.
