So I've been villager hunting for Dom for the past two days and it's been extremely frustrating. I've used up all 350 NMT that I had and still no sign of Dom.

I had Dom, Judy and Ankha as my choices and I thought I'd take whoever shows up first, but none of them did during these 350 trips.

I personally felt like I have always had bad RNG when it comes to villager hunting. I always ended up adopting villagers from other people. When I was looking for Marshal I spent 89 tickets and ended up getting him for free from a kind stranger. When I was looking for Lucky I spent 100 tickets before I gave up and traded a bunch of furniture and flowers for him. This time, honestly I could've spent the 350 NMT just to buy Dom from someone else and it would probably cost much less based on listings I've seen on Nookazon.

I'm determined to find Dom on my own at this point. I just felt that I needed to rant this out before I come to a breaking point.

(I saw a post on reddit that they used 979 NMT before they found Snake. Let's hope this doesn't turn into that 😓)

Update 7/17 5:26PM: found Raymond on my 396th ticket but still no sign of Dom 😤 my second time passing on Raymond now.

Update 07/17 - I've spent 500 tickets so far but still no luck on finding Dom.
Popular villagers that I've run into: Raymond, Audie, Sherb, Lolly, Diana, and many more.
Have only seen sheep 12 times during these 500 trips. Saw Frita 3 times; Wendy, Timbra, Curlos twice; Willow, Cashmere, Vesta once.
Ran into a few Jocks that I really like (Genji, Stinky, Snake) but had to pass because I'm determined to find Dom this time.
Will continue my challenge tomorrow!

Update 07/18 - I've spent 650 tickets and still no sign of Dom. (or Judy or Ankha)
Ran into Snake on my first ticket today. Only saw 3 sheep out of the 150 tickets I spent today, Timbra, Willow and Curlos. The game doesn't seem to roll me any sheep, and it's always been the same ones.

Update 7/19 - I've spent 850 tickets at this point looking for Dom. Wondering if I should just give up and buy him off of someone else 😔 but part of me still want to keep challenging my bad RNG...

Ran into Audie and Diana again today, and Ketchup my boo but had to let them all go 😢

And I got Snake on my second ticket when I was just looking for a new jock to replace Scoot 😨

Nowhere near as bad as wasting tons of tickets, but I haven't had Gullivarr yet.

Trust me, I know that feeling. It took me 2,100 tickets to find Lucky. Fortunately for me during that hunt, I found Judy multiple times, and Audie multiple times to fund the hunt. When I finally found him, I couldn't believe it (literally months later). It was definitely a SUPER satisfying feeling to finally encounter him though, rather than just buy him from Nookazon. :)

During that entire time I never ran into Raymond either. I finally got Raymond for the first time at around 3,200 total tickets used (which was earlier this week).

Wow it's crazy to see how many tickets and free time some people are willing to use up in search of finding their favourite villager(s) themselves, and at this point it's honestly refreshing to know that some people are still that interested in the game to do so. I think i've probably only used like 120 tickets so far island hopping, because while i'm picky, I also seem to be relatively lucky when it comes to finding the villagers I want. The only two villagers i'm even missing now are Raymond and Lucky, and hopefully it doesn't take too long to find them, because my brain can only handle using about 50 tickets per session, any more than that and I would probably go insane. On a more positive note, at least this game lets you interact with other player's villagers and invite them to your island, imagine how hard they would be to get if that wasn't the case? I don't even want to think about the amount of time and effort it would take trying to get a full island of 10 dreamies without using villager trading.

I'm sorry that is happening. I could definitely relate to that when I was looking for Poppy. It took me 300+ tickets and still haven't found her. Tried the campsite method afterwards and finally got lucky when she (Poppy) appeared as my 15th camper. Oh, I found Dom on my last ticket and moved him in but it took a lot and I wasn't exactly looking for him. Maybe, try your luck using the campsite? There are about 55 jock villagers in the game so it might take time. It's free though, but you have to time travel. Anyway, good luck on your search.

I just spent 3 days (kept resetting to the same date) trying to find Judy or Marshal and gave up for now as I need a break ;)
This is the hardest one I've had though, I feel lucky to have found Raymond on 76 tickets now even though I know others have found him for less. Diana was just under 100.

I feel your pain! Iv already spent around 150nmts trying to find Willow or Raymond my last two dreamies. I have 400 nmts and will be continuing my hunt tonight.
Have you looked into your villagers personality types as there's more of a chance you get the type you want if you don't already have that one. I spent a while getting 1 of each personality before I started my hunt for Raymond in hope it would increase my chances

Unfortunately, that won't help. Mystery Island villagers get rolled for species, not personality. Specifically, it chooses one species out of all of them, then randomly chooses a villager of that species.

Raymond is difficult to find given that there are so many Cats. The only thing you could do is fill your entire island with Cat villagers, and that will increase the odds ever so slightly. If you can TT, the campsite method is infinitely better if you don't have any Smug villagers on your island.

I’m sorry about your luck! It seems like I’m at the opposite end of the bell curve (I’ve found most of my dreamies within ten NMT during hunts). How many sheep villagers do you have? The chances for one specific villager increases whenever you take villagers that share a species with them. That’s probably why I was able to find my #1 dreamie so quickly (I had 2 eagles when I got Sterling).

Aww noo really? I read that its goes off personality first and then species.

Yeah, that's not how it works. Whoever said that wasn't correct.

Mystery Islands roll for species, and then a villager within that species. Campsite rolls for personality, and then a villager within that personality (roughly speaking, there's a bunch of extra mechanics for the campsite). There's nothing that rolls for personality and then species. Most of these mechanics have either been datamined or thoroughly tested.

If you really want to roll for personality, then you'll want to do the campsite method.

I for one am annoyed by the duplicates I get when I do mystery island hunting. I mean they could at least get rid of that IMO (like, "this villager will not appear again for you on a mystery island for the next two hours" or something). I ran into the same villager twice in a row on my last mystery island hunt, and this sort of thing is just massively frustrating.

But yeah, I'm kinda glad I don't have that ONE dreamie anymore (Henry was mine and I got him from someone else, I was NOT in the mood for hours and hours and hours of mystery island hunting). A friend of mine spent six hours trying to get Raymond. She got him in the end, but still...

That's why I never go island hopping with only 1 or 2 villagers in mind. I would loose my patience very quickly. When I'm doing it I actually quite enjoy it, the antecipation and surprise of finding someone you like, and may have never heard of before

I really couldn't do island hopping for a single villager because of the terrible RNG (unless they're an octopus).

The bad RNG I get in the games is that Gulliver gave me 1 large object (the Pyramid) so far. The rest have been hairstyles and the horse
