One of the main things I see people hoping for in the next ACNH update is Brewster and the Roost/Café, and I can't really wrap my head around why. Is it more the café aesthetic, or is it Brewster as a character? Is it just because he's a core element of AC? Personally, he's not that appealing to me, but then again my favorite AC character is Gracie so we all have our tastes. I do know of the apparent datamine where Brewster amd the café were mentioned, but then cut, so I'm assuming that also got people's hopes up?

It also makes me wonder if Nintendo sees Brewster as "marketable." NH, and to an extent, NL, really shifted the merchandise market. NH arguably has the most merch of all the AC games, at least here in the west. Heck, now they even have shoes! Isabelle was definitely created to sell merch, I'm sorry. A character that bland can't NOT be made purely for selling merch. It's also more likely that Chip and Nat were scrapped for more "marketable" characters, CJ and Flick. Personally, I just wonder if Brewster will suffer a similar fate. With AC trying to appeal to more modern audiences, heck, I could see Brewster being replaced with some dude running a boba/smoothie bar or something.

But, this is me rambling. Do you personally want Brewster and the café? Do you think Brewster will return at all? At this point, even I'm hoping so. NH desperately needs new content.

i don't want brewster and the cafe as desperately as some people, but i do want him, and the game does feel empty to me without him. i loved having him around in NL, and the cafe was very pretty to me in that game -- just imagine how good either it or the museum roost would look in HD in NH. i also liked the "sidequest" with working part-time and gradually earning rewards through him the more you did it. it made me feel like i was actually part of my town's community and doing my bit. it was also nice to see the various NPCs hanging around inside periodically -- it gave them more life too and made them feel like more than just their roles. when i picked up WW for a week or so recently, i went to the roost there everyday too. it's just a nice way to deviate from whatever your usual routine is or to end it off with; y'know, grabbing a nice beverage after a day of hard work. for me, it was also lowkey just kind of nice to see my character consuming something than whole pieces of fruit lmao.

when it comes to NH, i would rather the roost be in the museum than its own standalone building, but that's only because i don't have room for it on my island and don't really want to make room either. i don't drink coffee (or any hot drink for that matter) in real life, and neither does the character my island rep. is based on, but the cafe has a nice atmosphere, and i love the music and just the overall look of it. it's always felt welcoming, like a nice little space to clear your head and relax, and brewster is one of the few NPCs with a more introverted, relaxed, quaint personality, which is a nice change of pace. i also want to see him and brewster being bird bros again.

The first time I went in to The Roost in New Leaf (my first AC game), IDK, I was just blown away. It sounds silly but I was blown away. I loved the chill guitar music. I loved the neat, mustachioed pigeon. I loved the little minigame of giving villagers coffee (even though I always cheated).

It's a nice atmosphere. And having another building to put on the island and landscape around would be excellent. I want Brewster to return so bad!

Brewster needs to return. He may not be "marketable". He is a pigeon after all, but I'll list reasons why he should return. I've split my thoughts into subjective and objective answers, respectively.

My Thoughts: Personally, I would love to have The Roost/Museum Café. I have an outdoor café and it would free up that space for something else. Brewster returning would also give me hope that there will be other updates in the future and that Nintendo is listening to its fans to improve the quality of the game.

Objective Reasons: He is a part of the AC franchise, just like Kapp'n. However, Brewster returning would also signal a return of another part of the AC franchise that is mysteriously missing from the games: gyroids. Gyroids, other than Lloid, are absent from the game. Brewster would be a method of obtaining them, maybe after a job shift at his café.

I would love for Brewster to return and was surprised he was not in NH. I would prefer for him to have his own building. Since some really don’t want another building maybe there can be a way for it to be optional. He could be in the museum or his own building. I loved going to the cafe in NL. Seeing the villages and NPC’s there. It was fun working there part time. Maybe they could expand on the cafe. Offer more then just coffee maybe tea , juice and hot chocolate. It could also sell the donuts and sandwiches the villagers walk around with.

At this point as much as I want Brewster to return I’m not sure that he will.

Brewster is cool. The cafe is a great distraction. But personally, I have far more concerns than him: the missing furniture sets and items, extensive house exterior customization, deeper villager-player interactivity, and the multiplayer aspect.

i’d like brewster to return but i’m not one of those people who are like “brewster is a must and if nintendo doesn’t add him to the next update i will have a mental breakdown.” when i first got the roost in new leaf, he was very appealing character to me and i really liked the cafe’s atmosphere. perhaps people find him appealing for the same reason? his personality is kind of quiet at first but then he warms up to you so maybe that’s another reason why he’s appealing. however i don’t feel like we need him right at this moment and there is more important things to be added in the game other than him right now even though it would be nice if they did add him in the next update. it didn’t even occur to me that brewster could possibly be replaced like nat and chip until i read this post, i REALLY hope they don’t do that. even though i like flick and cj, replacing nat & chip was bad enough and we don’t need them to do the same with brewster.

Also i disagree with your opinion isabelle, she may be useless but she ain’t bland excuse me dont disrespect my girl like that, i can not tolerate this isabelle slanter 🤭

I do want Brewster and The Roost to return. It doesn't really matter to me whether the café is made into an addition to the museum or is a standalone building; I would personally prefer it to be its own building because I'd like more buildings for my business district, but I understand that many people, like daringred_, don't have room anymore and/or don't want to bother to make the room and I would assume that's a reality that would be taken into consideration by the game designers. Even if the job you could do only filled like a minute or two, it's still content that breathes some life into the game. I also liked the ability we had to order a take-out cup of coffee that we could carry around and consume at our leisure, and I especially like that idea for the colder months of the year.

Birds are my favorite types of creatures, so I do also just generally like Brewster.

I'm also fond of gyroids since I played the GameCube game back in the day and thought they were neat, so it would be nice if they returned. Brewster coming back doesn't necessarily mean that gyroids would return, though considering his past functionality as gyroid storage in City Folk and that he had his own Brewstoid line of gyroids as one of the rewards for working at his café in New Leaf, his addition might be the most plausible way to help reimplement them like Snek brought up.

I think The Roost as a whole, Brewster as a character included, would bring a lot to NH, if it was anything like in NL. It would be nice to have another little mini game included, and building up a friendship with Brewster. It would bring something else to check in on daily, if the NPC's are hanging out there. So I can see why it would be a popular choice with people.

Personally, I'll be happy if it's added, but I won't stop playing if it's not.

brewster is my favourite animal crossing character, but also its the aesthetic of just drinking coffee with my fellow islanders. Also my boyfriend loves coffee so i would love to be able to get a virtual coffee with him, i think that would be super cute.

I also saw an idea earlier that suggested that past residents could hang out at the Roost, similar to Main Street in NL. Even if I don't care much for Brewster, I do enjoy the idea. In NL, I like to naturally cycle through villagers just to see my Main Street fill up, but when I actively played NH, I had no reason to. It would also give KK a better place instead of BLOCKING THE RESIDENT SERVICES. I seriously get claustrophobic having to squeeze by him.

I love The Roost for pure aesthetic, but ironically, I am not a fan of coffee in real life. I think people can do a lot with his cafe if it were added and it would fit in nicely in most islands. However, Brewster doesn’t make or break the game for me. Upon seeing this thread, I’ve been having flashbacks to The Roost soundtrack, and I have to say, it had some of the best music in the game. It was so fitting for a cafe and I loved that villagers would pop in and you could talk with them.

My favorite NPC is Booker, so ideally, I would love if the police station were brought back. Adding Booker and Cooper into the game has a lot of potential. I do think The Roost is more likely to be added than the police station, though.

I think that the Café was one of those features that improved with each game, so people expected that to continue in NH. I did, at least.
It started off in the Museum, then moved on to be a shop you could build and decorate around your town...

Plus, The Roost is one of those Animal Crossing locations that was just fun to hang out in. I'd often drop by just to listen to the music, spend bells on virtual coffee I'll never get to taste, maybe have a chat with my girl Phyllis, you know? People miss the vibes, who can blame them?

Also, I think Brewster has a really endearing personality. I'll never forget when I first ordered a cup of joe from him in CF and told him I'd let it cool off a bit before drinking... The disappointment in his eyes... I couldn't actually see them though his glasses but I sure did feel it. Been drinking it piping hot ever since!

PS. Also yes, I desperately need Gracie to make a comeback as well

i want some place to chill in the game. i dont force nintendo to add brewster, and my favorite npc is kicks because he looks so cute lol. i love cafe because i could carry coffee, make coffee, etc.

I agree, there is still a lot missing (or missing potential) that I would want over the Roost. But right now, I'm not sure what we may see (if ever) of any of the cut content that we discuss from time to time. It took them a year and a half to give us popsicles.

Goomy it's not so much that people just want the Cafe. It's more that we want anything that was cut from the game and would be considered sizeable. And if not bringing back cut content, at least some kind of new content. They cut a lot of stuff and didn't really find anything new to put in its place.

It's like ordering a hamburger from a place, but they just bring you the buns, the sauce, and some lettuce, but where's the beef?

Brewster probably wouldn't have the staying power for most of us and it's really not fair to put that kind of expectation on him/his shop. It would just be one more activity we could do whenever we booted up the game. None of the old content that was cut would have enough staying power. Heck I feel like to me terraforming and crafting doesn't have that 'power' either. But if they would just start adding the beefier stuff and not sleeping on it (if it is truly going to happen) all of it together, old and new, would have the staying power.

I would like to see Brewster return. From a gameplay perspective, I can understand why it may not seem like much, but I think he's an essential part of the Animal Crossing experience, even if he may not be as popular as other NPCs. I also think the cafe design will likely look great in New Horizons given how good the other interiors look.

That said, I do hope Nintendo has more planned for the future of the game than just Brewster. I don't think his addition alone will change many people's perceptions of the game (good or bad).

Look as much as I really hope to see Brewster again, I will admit that he is not a core part of the game and will not be able to fill that hole that so many feel is left in New Horizons. However, I always loved the aesthetic and visuals of the cafe. It is a very calm setting, working at the cafe was super fun for me and I loved all of the animations including being able to drink coffee. I think that Brewster really represents the loss of so many npc characters in the game.

I'd personally love for Brewster to come back, but it won't kill me if he doesn't. I mainly want him back because I liked him as a character in CF and NL, and in NL the side quests with making your villagers coffee and having to meet their specific needs made you feel more attached to your town as daringred_ had described. If he were to return I'd hope gyroids return as well, since I miss them
