Cloud Saves MIGHT HAPPEN!

You are not going to buy AC New Horizons because you cannot backup the game save. Really?

Oh, geez.

Let me have my personal opinion, and make my own decisions on what criteria must be met before I'd shell out the best part of a grand for a game where no decent means of backup exist, without my reasons being challenged.

Let me hdve my personal opinion without it being challenged.

i think people are supposed to have their personal opinions challenged.. that even opens up the door for them to explain why their personal opinion is solid and strong. especially with a big claim such as not buying a game because it lacks a feature - a healthy debate / argument would have challenged opinions

No.
I'm not here to argue.
I'm not changing my mind on what I will and will not buy, just because you think I should.

All you've managed to do, is drive me away for the day.

Have a good one.

none of that was my goal, nor was i trying to argue. my point was that if you put your personal opinion out on the internet, there's a good chance it'll be challenged because the internet is such a unique place. i'm not saying that you should even change anybody's mind, but its unrealistic to expect to not be challenged with your personal opinions. i promise i don't give a flying flip wether you buy it or not.

have a good one.

John. John. Stay put. :)

It’s not meant as a personal affront to challenge your opinion. Share it, discuss it, as long as it is respectful. It’s not a slight and sometimes, for example, when people challenge my opinions, it leads me to rethink them, and double-down on them or just change them. It’s OK. Thoughts and ideas are not our identity, and it’s not derogatory to get other people to test the way we think. I might think that cloud save is not important because I’ve never ever really needed it. Or wait I did when two months after New Leaf came out, I dropped my 3DS on the street, and did not realize the cart had popped out. But in the end, it was alright I started over. I guess what I mean by that is I can also understand the insecurity that can be instilled by the fact Nintendo will probably disable cloud saves in New Horizons. I get it. I’m just saying. Overall. Basics. Huh. Not that important. You did not play previous games because they had cloud saving. You played them because you like the core elements that make the Animal Crossing games.

On one hand I would like cloud saves because in case my game card got damaged or lost, I could still recover my town. But I'd also like to save offline on my SD card. :)

Partially good news for you. The game save data is not saved on the game cart, but on the Nintendo Switch internal memory. So if you lose your game cart, buying a new one won’t make you lose your island :)

I'm really hoping for cloud saves but this won't stop me from buying ACNL and a Switch. I think they may have to implement them after it has been released. I'm thinking that they're testing the waters and if enough people need/demand for this feature, they'll bring it out. I think Nintendo wants to see how we play ACNL (edit: I MEAN ACNH LOL) and what people are going to try to do, to misuse it? That way they can gather info on how to protect it further.
These are just my personal thoughts, I'm prolly way off but to me, it would make sense to gather as much info on personal use to better help the customer. ₍ᐢ⸝⸝› ̫ ‹⸝⸝ᐢ₎

I’m not really upset at having no cloud saves, since we hadn’t had that before in other animal crossing games. What I am annoyed with is that your island data is saved onto your console and not the actual cartridge, same with other NX games. I just wish the switch games data was saved on the cartridge (unless digital) like how it was in the 3ds. Then at least we have the option of just popping our cartridge into another switch. Data transfers only work if both switches are working and connected to the internet.

I’ve never really used a cloud storage system for anything (honestly saving stuff to the cloud kinda makes me nervous lol), except a Dropbox account I have. While it is useful for backing up your files, I don’t think it’s necessarily needed for gaming. Perhaps computer/PC games but not consoles like NX. Like someone said earlier, Nintendo is also trying to protect themselves from hacking possibilities, even though hackers will find a way anyways. Ugh I just want data on the cartridges but they’ll probably never change it U_U

That's not good enough.
I want to save my game on an SD card.

This is probably never happening. It'd be too easy to alter the save data with save editors. It sucks, yes, but it's not happening. I wish it would be possible, but given the structure of the Switch, it's unlikely to. This is how Nintendo wants it.

I personally don’t care for cloud saves. Yeah it would be nice, but oh well. Being upset about it won’t change it. The outcome will remain the same. Worst thing that happens is having to start a new island, but it’s not the end of the world.

I don't mind Cloud Saves but if my switch breaks and I need to order a repair, i should at least have my data transferred instead of sending a new one.

Un-bothered with or without them honestly.
I treat my switch like my child, so i'm not too concerned about it breaking and losing my town.

:D

I'm usually very careful with my Switch, so I think I'll be OK whether or not I'll have cloud save. It would be nice to have it though, so if we do get it, I'll be happy. Also, if anything does happen to my Switch and we don't have cloud saves, I actually don't mind having to start over from scratch. ;)

Rationally. Not picking up New Horizons because cloud save is not a feature feels more like self-punishment than any kind of well-thought protest.

You couldn't be more wrong.

It isn't self punishment, it's called not making a bad investment.

They can't even fix the joy con drift permanently. o_O

So it's a half assed job they've done on the switch console. The very console that will be housing the only saved game data you have.

Also I never said I wanted cloud saving.
I said I wanted other means of saving.

Dizzy even said what I've been saying all along. I wish that games saved to the game cart itself, as it did with the 3ds.

Ok. Really done here now.

I don't see them adding cloud saves, but I think if they were going to announce it they would probably do it in the direct.

I personally do not like this. I am an impatient person, so I love time traveling!
