Concerns about Re-Tail and Villager Trading Plaza sections

It seems to me like people are usually just buying, not selling. What sense does that make? I remember about a year ago, people mostly either sold items or had in-thread shops and you saw the occasional [Buying] prefix (side note: if there even were prefixes then, I'm not sure if there were). Has everyone here got so many bells after I was gone that all they want to do now is catalog every single item in the game and obtain every villager photo and genuine pieces of art?
I don't know... Sorry for the rant, it just seems as though TBTF has lost something (to me, at least). I know I could simply leave, but that wouldn't benefit me or the community... *sigh*

There's still people who are selling. Just need to look harder. And that's probably because of the insane TBT to in game bell ratio (100 for 10,00,000).
