Cosy Photo Challenge [Closed Til Next Time!]

this literally took me all day. i could never build a good fort when i was younger, and i still can’t now apparently haha. here it is:

1598134963437.jpeg
i find it sad that my biggest struggle with this was finding more than one pillow and blanket LOL. it was also hard to get my cat to stop chewing on the lights 😣

as much as it was difficult, it was fun to relive the struggle :>

I think the last time I built a pillow fort was almost 15 years ago at a sleepover... at it wasn’t nearly as structurally sound lol.

Welcome to the cozy woodland fort that would have been my dream bedroom at a younger age. As you can see, it’s the perfect spot to curl up with a cozy plushie, play some Animal Crossing, and maybe power through some knitting projects. For scale, Randy the Racoon is about 3 feet tall. The shelf to the right gives one of the walls enough rigidity to lean against fully, so you can curl up to your heart’s content.

(There’s a better view of my nametag in the close-up shot)

This 2nd challenge was a bit harder to pull off than the first one (especially since the power went out while I was working on it earlier).

It has the following:
  • 3 pillows for comfort
  • 2 blankets (ie. The floor/desk, the latter is a box underneath, and the wall in the back)
  • 1 sheet serving as the roof/rest of the wall.
  • A Mario plush playing on my N3DS while wearing a gaming headset.
  • My Nintendo Switch on a stand.
The frame of the fort itself is my laptop's desk and my desk chair set at max height (which is why the left side looks like a horn/slope from the outside). Only 1 person can fit inside.

Here is my fort entry! It actually is quite cozy for my apartment living room. I left it open so you could see inside. There is a little gap in the back behind Keroppi where I can see my cat bird-watching too :') I can play my switch, finish some animes, and work on my drawing for another event :') I brought some ranch sunflower seeds cause those are my fav anime snacks tbh

Fort.JPG

Here's my fort! I forgot the nametag for this one so its included in the second snap ❤

I really enjoyed this because I used to make A TON of forts like this as a kid at my grandparents house, usually by pulling the mattress halfway off the bed and propping it up with some sort of stick (my grandpa was a bit of a weird one haha) so this was really fun to do!!

This has every pillow off of my bed (4), 2 couch pillows, my duvet as the "floor", a blanket on my drawers so I can rest against it, two blankets to make up the structure, and a blanket "door" because what use is a fort if it can't be fortified? 😂

Also have a couple of plushies to keep me company, my waterbottle to stay hydrated (very important) and, of course, my switch so I have something to do in said fort. Everyone else with snorlax plushies - I see you 👀👀

Pack your slumber party necessities!

This was really, really tough. Ultimately, I've decided my favorite sleepover package to be...

Hanami

lUH2w9p.jpg

  • A set of pajamas - a fluffy pullover, soft plaid bottoms, and fuzzy socks 😌
  • Overnight mask, face cleanser, body cream, hand cream, and chapstick. Simplified la routine de skin, but gotta stay moisturized 🧖‍♀️
  • Hello Kitty headband to do my skincare routine looking cute and feeling comfortable. I also use it as a sleep mask!
  • Late night snacks - ramen and a banana since I prefer fruit to candy for something sweet
  • A hydroflask because I like to bring my own fruit-infused water
  • Games - the versatile deck of playing cards and one my favorite party games, Exploding Kittens!
  • A small pouch for hygiene + first-aid products - toothpaste, deodorant, band-aids, pain relievers, etc.
  • A tiny notebook and pen because my friends and I often come up with great ideas for future restaurant visits and road trips
  • A sleepy panda plush
  • A tote bag and a fishing net bag to carry everything
One of the few who didn't include a switch! Board games as a replacement is awesome, especially age friendly ones! Group gathering are always more fun with new games to try together (and Exploding Kittens is a classic for me). Love the warmth and fuzziness of Hanami's pajamas. The personalized items are great, but I really like the inclusion of practical items such as medication, band-aids, etc, which I find is most important to include when staying overnight cause you never know what could happen. The panda plush is cute, but honestly is not what made a difference! Everyone had super adorable plushies and I wish I could choose them all. 😭 Finally, what really made me happy was the shin ramyun as a salty late night snack with fruit as the sweets. That's one of my favorite late night snacks! Can't wait to see you at the sleepover @Hanami !

Wow, you guys really went above and beyond in some of your builds! They all looked super comfy, but alas, I could only choose one to be the comfiest...

It's like jumping into a cloud! Spacious, yet small enough to feel like you're in your own little world. I totally don't also collect those adorable calico plushies (yes I do), but the use of different lights and varying textures between the pillows just makes everything go so well together. It's an awesome build, and I wish I could try it out for myself! Great job @Rosie977 !

Deadline: August 26 at 6:59 PM FT

Now, it's time to prepare a little something for one of your beloved villagers attending the slumber party. While you were up all night packing and setting up camp, they were too busy running around the plaza as an airplane in the rain and caught a cold. Luckily, you are their greatest friend in the world and thought to create a self-care box for their happiness and well-being! What kind of gifts would assemble for them? Share your personalized self-care box for any villager of your choice below!

Requirements:
  • A box, basket, or other similar container.
  • At least five other items.
  • Include 3-4 sentences on why these items are specifically chosen for this villager. Think color schemes, hobbies, interior themes, their dreams and aspirations, etc! Please do not submit low effort passages. This is your favorite villager we're talking about!

Challenge #7

Begins: September 6 at 7 PM FT
Deadline: September 9 at 6:59 PM FT

Heads up! Challenge 7 may be tough for those who can't make it outside during these times in real life. This prompt is available early so there's ample time to at least take a look outside your window these next few weeks.

Does the cloud in the banner remind you of anything? 🐇 Let's see what you can find. Take a photo of a cloud that looks like... that thing!

Requirements:
  • Do not submit photos for this prompt until September 6, 7 PM Fair Time (EDT). Task is available early to give everyone a chance to go out to catch some sun at their convenience. Early submissions will be removed.
  • The cloud must be recognizable, and can be anything. A number, an animal, a specific person's face, etc, except basic shapes (circle, square, rhombus, etc) or things that clouds look like anyway (cotton candy).
  • Caption your photo with what the cloud is supposed to be.

Just know the cloud can be almost anything! It does not need to be a bunny. ☁

This is probably also a good time to start reminding people to bring a namecard for the cloud photos, right? I took a few photos already but forgot one for every single one of them...

me in california with no clouds cuz of all the smoke from the fires: 👁 👄 💧👁

I'll consider an alternative prompt for those who can prove they have this situation as I'm sure you're not the only one! However, with an alternative prompt they will be unable to receive staff favorite as these would have different criteria.

Can we pick an NPC to build a gift basket for, or does it have to be one of the villagers we can invite to live on our island?

a gift bag for roald, my favorite villager! I'm sorry these items aren't very creative, I just moved to college and I barley have anything

20200823-200127.jpg

1- a sweater to keep him warm because everything in his house is made of ice and he's probably cold
2- a stuffed duck to sleep with while he gets better
3- let's go eevee, the superior pokemon game, for him to play while he's resting
4- noodle soup because that helps when you're sick
5- deodorant because he's a jock and probably is vry smelly
6- a mirror so he can cheer himself up by looking at his muscles
7-and then just a simple black tote bag to pack it in
