Do You Know How To Write In Cursive?

yes, we learned cursive. i don't use it, but it's fun to write random things in it. i'm not very good at it, though.
my english prof writes in cursive all the time though, but also a girl that sits next to me in class does as well! i also think there's a guy in my ap environmental science class that writes in cursive, too.

In my elementary school they told us, "You must learn how to write in cursive. They are going to make you write in cursive in middle school. You are going to need to use cursive for the rest od your life. You will fail at life if you don't learn cursive and you will not make it into middle school."

And none of that was even the case. I laughed so hard when I graduated and learned that they stopped teaching it.

But yes, I know how to write in cursive and it looks VERY nice. I can even do calligraphy. Strangely, though, my regular handwriting is awful. The only reason I don't use cursive on a daily basis is because it takes longer for me to read and sometimes other people can't read it.

ye i learned back in grade 2/3 and i should probably improve on it since it looks pretty garbo sometimes

I remember learning it in like the 3rd grade but I hate it because mine is too loopy and big haha.
I'm jealous of people who have pretty handwriting!

Yes. I remember it being a mandatory way to write in middle school, but I never did it. As I went along through the years, the teachers slowly began to understand that my cursive wasn't, and never would be very legible so they stopped scolding me for not writing in cursive.

To this day I never use it, and since everyone's switching to computers, I really don't have to/don't find it necessary to.

My mom and sister have beautiful handwriting, though. My sister does calligraphy, even, and it's beautiful.

I guess I got my dad's side of the handwriting spectrum, because his cursive is just as bad as mine.

Yes it was mandatory for one of the years in school. I don't use it often anymore but I notice sometimes I will mix in some cursive with my usual writing.

I don't undestand.

Learning to write is the most common part of English! o_O

Have I been out of the loop that long, that they no longer teach basic writing skills?

Are you all on laptops so much that you've forgotten the simplest of things?

*Shakes head in utter disbelief*

What a lazy generation. :-/

I kinda remember how to? I know my signature, that's it. I've never used cursive since grade 3.

"You'll need it in high school." Lol okay.

This is a joke.

HAS to be! o_O

I've entered the illiterate Twilight Zone.

How do y'all write letters?

Finger painting?
Or is that beyond todays skill set?

I was taught in primary school but now I just used a kind of weird mix between cursive and printing unless I'm trying to be neat, in which case I use printing.

Thankfully, I HAVE been taught cursive around the 5 elementary schools I was pushed around, but as other users say, you don't see it anymore. I write VERY sloppily anyways, so I don't really have an excuse to use it besides signatures.

yeah but it's ugly and takes longer than my normal handwriting. my handwriting has a lot of cursive elements 2 it (except that it's Uglier) because printing takes longer and i don't like lifting my pen

My handwriting is like a hybrid of print and cursive it?s easier to write faster, it tends to look a little sloppy but that?s okay, if I can read it then does it really matter if others can?

I’m a homelearner and I learnt some when I was younger, actually going through some cursive writing books again now.

I write sloppy too, not to mention for awhile somehow I ended up holding pens wrong, now I’m trying to do it properly and it’s awful lol.

Yes. I remember learning it in 3rd grade and I think in fifth we had to use cursive in everything. I rarely do anymore. Print is just faster for me

my handwriting is like symbols or a foreign language to others...I guess its THAT bad lmfaooooo, I just write too fast & connect letters together, I like to think its cursive but yeahh guess not, its just ****ty LOL

yes! it's not that pretty anymore, but i learned it in 2nd grade, and sometimes use it for decorating notebooks, etc.

Yep, learned in 3rd grade. Graduating college soon so 3rd grade was a long time ago. My handwriting now is a mix of printed and cursive letters now. I used to have really messy cursive writing but it's gotten better.

yes but i stopped when i started secondary school since we didnt have to. my writing is much more clear even if it doesnt look nicer without it
