I'm mostly interested in seeing people's opinions on this. And yes, I'm talking about the animal, not baseball bats (lookin at all you smarties out there 👀).

Personally I love bats. I find them to be very fascinating and cute. They tend to spook me a bit if they're flying around because I'm initially afraid of any flying creature that comes near me, but at some point I would love to hold one or pet one!

Their silly little faces are the best 🥺 A small percentage of bats in my province carry rabies though so I wouldn't touch one.

They are really adorable! Once there was one at my school and it jump scared me and my class while walking back from PE.. it was frightening.

Other than that, a pretty cool animal species.

They're adorable! I mean I'd still freak out if one just flew at my face, but that's true of anything that flies. But if I was allowed to pet one that's just standing still, I would in a heartbeat.

Bats are great. They are really cute! But also, any animal or insect that eats mosquitos is a win in my book. I love dragonflies and swallows (they are acrobatic birds that eat flying insects) for the same reason. Mosquitos are annoying and awful. :(

I do! They're amazing and fascinating creatures. I do not go near them as they carry rabies where I live (or are one of the animals highest likely to) in the states. I also love the fact that most species are insect eaters and that they eat tons of mosquitos and other pest bugs.

When I was young, I went to visit out at my aunt and uncle's ranch and their pool would attract insects. I remember one night, my cousin and I went night swimming. We noticed that bats were all around us and above, swooping over the water and our heads to catch bugs. There were tons of bats everywhere around the pool. It was so amazing as they would come SO close to hitting you in the head but didn't.

I love bats! They’re very fascinating animals. I wrote an essay about them my first semester because I like them. They also help pollinate plants as well as keep insects in check! My favorites are fruit bats: they look like little flying dogs!

Sorry, but I'm terrified of them! I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to things like this D:

^ The upside about bats and rabies is that, unless you physically go to try to touch a bat, your chances of one biting you is almost non-existent small. Bats eat insects or fruit, depending on the species. They don't mess with humans. The only exception to that is if you live in a place with vampire bats, but that's mostly just Mexico and South America. And even then they mostly go after things like farm animals that are sleeping outside. You would have to be outside at night, preferably sleeping (they sneak up on their prey), for them to try to go after you.

The only time I've heard of humans in the US getting rabies from bats are humans that work as part of bat rescues or do studies on bats. They generally end up touching bats and getting bit.

I like bats, they’re pretty cool. I also like baseball bats as well. Especially when they do a “bat flip” ;)

i prefer the metal ones but wood works too. thought i dont play baseball too much so i guess im just indifferent to bats

Sure. I live in a location where they're very common. We have a feature in a zoo nearby which has a dark (essentially pitch black) passage you can walk through with only very dim lighting on the floor to light the way. The bats fly around freely in there, it's a neat experience.

bats are super adorable, their little wings, their tiny fangs, love them!

Same!! I lived in the Philippines and one of my favourite resorts to go to was literally on an inactive volcano and there were TONS of them flying around (they had nets above pools so they wouldn't get too close to people) There's a lot of wild animals and its a given that you don't come near any of them as a sign of respect (or safety)

I think they’re kinda cute and interesting! They’re huge reservoirs for so many potentially deadly viruses so they get a bad rep o: but some of them do good things like pollinate plants and eat mosquitos so I think overall I like them!

I love bats! They are precious little winged babies. Everything about them is adorable in my opinion.

I posted elsewhere about this, but a couple of months ago I had a bat that would regularly perch on my back porch in the evenings. I would often see it when going out to walk my dog around midnight. I named him Mortimer and would talk to him and see how close he would let me get without flying away. He was pretty calm and seemed comfortable around me. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him around in the past few weeks.
