Not really. I have reset once or twice before this. I was not really sure what I was doing so my islands were pretty much a hodge podge of stuff as I experiment along with half finished projects. This time though I feel as if I know the mechanics enough to attempt to really give planning planning and decorating a go and it's easier to do on a fresh island then trying to move reconfigure and flatten or build everything. At least in my mind. Plus there is just something about starting fresh that opens up the creative mind
i don't! i restarted a day or two after the direct, and while i feel a bit sad about the villagers which i reset over and having to redo the museum... there were too many things on my old island which i hated and couldn't change (namely the river mouths and plaza placement. so it feels good to have ones i'm happy with now!
In some ways I would say no. My old island Traverse may have had great waterfalls and a lot of unique places, but my biggest issue was that I went too overboard with the terraforming. I made too much of Layer 2 cliffs and Layer 3 cliffs which made my island look like some sort of mountain. I had no idea what I was even doing because I tried to make places look more open and not too cluttered, but it didn't work out in my favor. So I had to delete my island by May 2021 and I got a brand new map for a new island which would be called "Destiny"
I liked the new map because it gave me more room to work with, Resident Services was not too close to the airport like it as on my old island and I was able to do more things with this island that I couldn't do before. By the time I was done making Destiny I felt much better about it. I didn't care what theme I wanted it, I just wanted to make an island has my personality of all the stuff I like about it. So I don't miss my old island that much, while I was a bit sad to leave my villagers behind, I didn't feel too bad because with the help of the 2nd island I was able to get all of my stuff out of there before it was deleted. So I don't miss it one bit.
on occasion yes, but i think i more miss the idea of having one singular island from day one all the way through until now as opposed to missing the physical island. i was finished with decorating there, and i very much appreciate having a fresh new canvas to work with now, especially with the update right around the corner motivating me to keep going. the only other thing i miss is having a more padded out catalogue and DIY recipes!!
I don't regret restarting at all. I restarted VERY early on (only a month after release) one of the biggest reasons was my habit of calling all 'game worlds' Lunaria. Being Luna from Lunaria just seemed so cheesy so i changed my island to Moonstone (and I love it). I was also able to get fruit I wanted. My only little gripe with restarting is my plaza is pretty close to my airport now as it wasn't something I paid much attention to.
Honestly, no. I was bored of it and unhappy with my layout, and now I'm so glad I restarted! I get to discover this new island while I also discover everything in the update! It'll be great!
Not really tbh? I could never figure out how I wanted to decorate it and I was so frustrated with where the resident services were which made it worse. I have a much better flow with my current one and I gave the villagers from the first one away to people that really wanted them so I doesn't have much for me to miss anymore.
