I have a horrible time trying to fall asleep, 0one thing that I have to have is a shower right before bed, it helps calm me down and helps me feel clean before bed.
I like everything to be pitch black, or with a very dim light. I used to need a fan to fall asleep but now absolute silence is fine.
I will say that I need a pet to be nearby. I can’t stand being completely by myself at night. Luckily, both my dog and cat follow me everywhere, so that’s not a problem!
Plus my cat enjoys jumping on my head, trying to knock down lamps, and eating my earbuds in the dead of the night, so I always know he’s there.
Pitch black and quiet room while hugging a pillow or plush is the best way I fall asleep. I can’t stand people who snore. It wakes me up throughout the night. Exhaustion is another way to fall asleep quickly too though
I’m so jealous of people who can just fall asleep/stay asleep! I am a really light sleeper and i can’t fall asleep if there is any noise, I’m too hot/cold, it’s too bright, etc. i use melatonin and i still hold a stuffed animal. I tried not using the stuffed animal since i felt pathetic but it felt so weird not holding something. I don’t think I’ll ever get over that :x
I would say no. There are things that I like to have, like background noise from YouTube or something, or like a fan, but they're not necessary for me to sleep on a regular basis.
No, I'm very anxious in bed, but I don't help myself. I usually fall asleep fast (and never wake up in the middle of the night) unless I'm scared of an appointment the next day. I do enjoy having the fan on in the summer though. Like the fear of bullying always kept me awake as a teen, now the feeling remains but it's not justified anymore. I think a ritual would just keep me awake, like watching YouTube or something. Imo it's better to just lie in the dark and relax even if you don't manage to fall asleep.
I need something to hug, whether that's a pillow or a plushie (my fave is my Care Bear I've had since I was a little kid). I'm not comfortable in a pitch black room, so I need a little bit of light - but not too much. I also need some kind of sheet over me, even in the height of summer.
I find melatonin really helpful, but I don't take it every night.
Usually I listen to a podcast called Get Sleepy. It's the only bedtime podcast that's ever worked for me. It's so chill, I really recommend it to anyone else who takes ages to fall asleep.
I have a hard time actually trying to sleep. I need a ceiling fan or air condition to be on. The white noise helps me sleeps. I tired actual white noise machine but those don’t work for me (). The air conditioner sort of creates a barrier between all other noise. If they are off, any other noise I hear doesn’t let me fall asleep. Once I’m actually sleeping though, I sleep like the dead.
there's a lot of things i need to help me sleep. i live with a brother who has low-functioning autism and likes making a lot of noise, so i usually need a pillow and my fan on highest setting. i also prefer having a stuffed animal to sleep with, it helps having something to hold on to i think!
If I don’t have a small lamp and a book to read I typically lay in bed awake for hours. I’m not afraid of the dark anymore, but the familiarity of this routine makes me dependent on it.
Sleeping is really hard for me cause I need to make up a story in my head to go to sleep too and if the story dies out before I fall asleep, I’ve got to try again and again. I can’t just rest my mind. There needs to be something happening
Earplugs.I need my room to be super quiet. I cannot fall asleep with TV noises, and machinery humming sounds drive me nuts unless it’s ambient white noise. I need to wear earplug most of the nights because I live near a busy street and there’s a lot of traffic noise from the street. Also, it helps me sleep uninterrupted because my neighbor apparently works at night and sleep in the day so they can get loud in the middle of the night. The earplug had been a life saver for me and is an absolute must have
i share a room with one of my family members because my house is too small to have my own room. there’s usually a TV on in the room but i can still usually fall asleep in like 7 minutes. so no i don’t need anything but i take melatonin before sleeping.
