Do You Plan on Buying Switch 2 within first week of Launch?

I don't think I will, primarily because I have no idea what games are coming out exclusively on NS2 asides from maybe the new Mario Kart game (which I can definitely delay playing). As of now as long as the newly announced games in the recent direct can be played on the original NS, I will be using that in the meantime :)

I said it in a different thread but I most likely won’t. First of all because I’m broke so it’s not like I would be the one buying it, and second of all because while it would be nice to have, I’d probably still want to wait until more games come out before getting one.

No. I’m waiting until at least five to six months to make sure there aren’t any serious glitches that will brick my brand new console and when more games are out. I’m satisfied with my OLED for now and have plenty of games to play while I wait. I also want to see the price first before I make a decision and perhaps if I wait I can get one that is on sale or has a really good promotion such as a new game being included upon purchase or something similar.

Only if I have the money to get it, because looking at my current change, it's not looking good. (Context, I'm unemployed)

And another reason is if Mario Kart 9 is the launch title.

All of this aside, if I don't have enough money to get the Switch 2 and just Mario Kart 9, I'll buy Mario Kart 9 first and Switch 2 later, which is how I did it with the Switch 1 anyway.

Very unlikely I'd get it on release. I can't really imagine an actual launch game that would entice me to buy it on release, before they fix any potential bugs or problems which usually happens for console releases. If they were to announce a new Animal Crossing game during the direct, which came out on release, that would potentially push me over the edge to get a release day console.

This might be a bit of a rant so warning ahead.

I was wanting to pre-order but seeing as they decided to have a "Japanese system" version and a "Multilanguage version" with the latter costing 20k Yen more, I'm not so sure anymore. Quite expensive as it is and having to pay this much more (and not even including the Mario Kart game) just to play in English iiiiiiiiis questionable. Perhaps I'll have to wait and buy it in Europe, but with the Yen beeing so weak I'll probably have to pay around the same if I convert. 😅 😅

*If I didn't misread anything that is

I’m probably going to get it early next year for my birthday. None of the exclusives are making it a must buy for me and I’m not going to use the chat or camera and I hate having to buy new sd cards. I had just bought a 1T sd card for my oled so having to get a special one for the new system is kinda meh.

Depends on what games are available at launch, but honestly, doubtful. More likely to wait until later in the year for like my birthday or something. I feel like I'd rather play Pokémon Legends Z-A on a Switch 2 than on the Switch, so while I'm not likely to purchase the Switch 2 in the first week or first month, I probably will within the first year at least.
With the games selling at a price point of $80 for digital and $90 for physical, I'm going to have to revoke my "within the first year" statement.

Can I make it work if I want to?
Yeah.

Do I want to spend that much on individual games?
No.

It's great to see it release earlier than I thought, but I worry scalpers are just going to make it a hassle to get one this summer. I might just save up my money and get it when more titles come out, anyway.

When they say you can "buy switch 2 edition upgrade on switch games you currently own" I assume they meant updates...?

Well, now that we know for sure that Mario Kart is a launch title I’m going to try if I can. I’m a big Mario Kart fan and I remember being really frustrated when 8 first came out on Wii U. I spent months watching streamers playing it cause I couldn’t afford my own Wii U at the time. I was so happy when I finally did get one.

I’ve also never had a console at launch before. I’m sure it’s a bit overrated to do so but it would be neat to do it once in my life. Plus I know I’d play the heck out of Mario Kart so it won’t just sit on my table looking pretty for something to play.

probably not; will likely wait for AC6. plus, my boyfriend is going to get the switch 2 at launch. i’ll have access to it that way, and maybe i’ll even convince him to let me transfer my account/games to his OLED >: )
o my goodness… so it’s official that i’m taking over my bf’s oled AND the switch 2 launch is around the time of my bday !! it’s still just him getting it but i’m gonna be so spoiled…. nice oled screen 4 me, and i can play his switch 2 when he gets it!! >: )))

really hoping there’s some cute releases in different colors for when i eventually get one later on. i really do like the Joycon 2™ accent colors + grey color scheme, it’s tasteful. that makes me hopeful that different releases will be even better looking than some of the special edition switches and joycon pairings lol

Oh I hear you! I think prices for games creeping up toward $100 is going to ultimately hurt the gaming world. I mean costs already are causing lots of closures of game development companies. There will always be those who continue to buy no matter the price, but the gaming world will lose the general masses who won’t justify the ever creeping prices. The cost of a car goes up, you tighten your belt and bite the bullet. But Games? I mean I love gaming, but it is not a necessity. I’ll just enjoy my old games.

I'm in the same boat. I can afford the price increase, here, but I don't want to support it, and so I'm probably just not going to get the Switch 2 at this rate. Maybe after enough time passes, prices drop, and there is enough in the library that I'm actually enticed by... but for now, I'll just stick with my older games. There are so many older titles still worth playing, and many highly-regarded classics that I actually have just never gotten around to trying for one reason or another. I think I'd rather do that than roll over and give in to a price hike.
