I normally don't, but at times I find myself doing it to let out frustration or to self-sooth. When things are going super well I sometimes find myself doing it then, too. I try to stop myself because I'm worried it might be too distracting, or someone might mistake me talking to/about them. Do you do it, and if so, why?

I'd like to think it's nice way to vent a little frustration. Better than some alternatives. I try phrase things like "It would be nice if I didn't have to do another shift's prep during a rush".

All the time. My mind always seems to be racing along with hundreds of thoughts all trying to make themselves heard at the exact same time, so talking to myself helps me focus on whatever specific thought I'm actually trying to follow without it being drowned out by the rest.

I've been caught a few times mouthing away silently. I think I'm just working through conversations in my head that I need to have.

Yes. I've ADHD and I'm usually thinking about umpteen things at once. Speaking aloud helps me isolate a train of thought and focus, separating it from all the other noise in my head.
basically me, I talk to myself literally all the time. helps me process all my turbulent thoughts.

I used to get embarrassed abt it when I was a kid/teen (because my parents would ask me who I'm talking to and I'd usually say, oh, the cat), but I'm not now (now I just say, yeah, I'm talking to myself, what of it lol). I don't think it's something to be embarrassed about.

All the time! My boyfriend started asking me, “Are you talking to me? Or were you talking to Oswin?” To try and distinguish if he was supposed to be listening or not haha. I like that distinction, so now I tell other people a lot ‘oh, I was just talking to Oswin, don’t worry, that wasn’t for you’ and I think it really helps to clarify things!

I do at home. I try not to in public since people treated me weird for it. For a while I practically had one sided conversations with myself out loud. Now I just make brief statements.

Very often, actually. It's hard not to 😭 It's something I'm so used to, I can't help it.
I used to all the time when I worked. Customers would look at me funny. But saying things I need to remember at work, to myself, helps me remember better.

Mhm, I do! It helps me sort through my thoughts or gives me a sense of release if I've been bottling too many things up. I usually go outside to talk to myself and romanticize it like I'm confiding in the sky and the trees. I live out in the middle of nowhere so I don't have to worry about about being overheard or attracting attention for it. Although it's almost second nature at this point... I have definitely slipped and started talking to myself while shopping to remind myself what I'm looking for lol. I do it without even realizing I'm doing it sometimes!

When I'm home alone (or alone in general), I tend to talk to myself when being productive. Even if I'm just watching a movie and something dramatic happens, I catch myself audibly reacting to the point my family could hear in the next room lol
