Ever hate someone only to later love them?

Yes Beardo, when he moved into my New Leaf town I did not want him, he seemed weird, but then I ended up loving him, he's one of my favorite characters now.

All sheep villagers. I really dislike how they looked in the past games. They're just a ball of fleece with a head and a scarf. NH changed my opinion on them, and it only took shirts.

Also Hippeux. I am so annoyed by this guy. Always popping up 3-4x whenever I'm island hopping. But the more I got annoyed with him, the more I learned to like him. Still not my favorite guy but if he shows up on my island, I don't mind having him for a while.

Not hate but I wasn't really interested in Marshal, Sherb or Dom but they really grew on me and became permanent villagers.

Goose and Katt.

I hated them in previous iterations of the game. When I first arrived on Vylbrand and walked out of the airport to see them waiting I immediately thought, "I'm kicking you both out as soon as possible." That never happened. Turns out that I now can't imagine my game without them.
I'm considering inviting Katt to my island. I have her amiibo so we'll see....

I find him hilarious. He reminds me of the older suburban English gentleman who frets over and takes great pride in his prize roses. That, or he's an American high school science teacher. Either way, I love him and will probably be getting his amiibo next time I order some (because despite already ordering 20 amiibos, I NEED more. :ROFLMAO::rolleyes:)

Beardo.

He was my random smug, and I hated him. Placed his house as far away from the others as I possibly could, ignored him, the usual. But then the other villagers started asking me to deliver stuff to his house, and I guess I lightened up. His house was great, his design was different, and I was excited when I got his Amiibo card in a random pack. He eventually moved out, and I admit, I miss that guy.

Funny how different opinions can be. I read someone else say that they always loved the sheep in past versions but not this one because they weren't as fluffy this time. lol. I have no opinion on the past versions because I never played them, but the sheep in this version are my favorite animal. My daughter has Frita and Etoille, and I have Muffy and Pietro, and I adore all of them. If I could also have Willow I would but with only 10 spaces, I do want to have other types.

When I played New Leaf Pietro moved in and I did not like him at all. But after awhile he grew on me and I was really sad when he moved suddenly. Thankfully, I got him nack in New Horizons and now he's one of my faves.

Backwards I used to love Kyle but not I'm over him.
Never meet punchy till this game hes now my favorite.
Iv always loved stitches and still do but it's starting to waver.

I used to not like Reneigh, she's a sisterly and I found her bossy and rude. But now I love her and she's never leaving my island. 💜

i dont think ive experienced this specifically, but when i was little and played animal crossing on gamecube, i reset my town a few times because of rasher the pig lol (he just kept on showing up). he made scary expressions and was really mean to me so he was probably the only character i could say i "hated", but honestly it was more just straight fear than hate lol. he doesnt bother me now except for those memories haha. i really didnt like beardo in new leaf because he moved right underneath my retail and blocked the path to the bridge .-. i dont dislike him now though, but kicking him out of my town was all i could think about then xD but overall i dont think ive hated any character. i have warmed up to characters over time though. i didnt expect to keep my new horizon starters, ursula and tybalt, but now i love them and wont let them leave c:

This wasn't in New Horizons, but in New Leaf, I was rather peeved that Beardo moved in right beside the mayor's office. and in doing so trampled over my rose garden. But in time, I actually grew to like him. His house was very close to my personal aesthetic, and having him right beside the mayor's office made it seem like he held some sort of position in the town's government, even though he obviously didn't. I was actually kind of sad when he moved out.

And I never really disliked him, but when I expected to not care much for Rory, as I don't care much for jock villagers. But he wormed his way into my heart somehow. He and Drake really seemed to hit it off well, and so I tended to imagine the two as being playmates.

I got Paolo from an island because he was the first one that I saw that seemed okay-ish. I regretted it soon after because I hate the color pink. But now I am actually happy to see him everyday because I like his personality, he’s just cute. :giggle: I’m glad I kept him.

Cherry was one of my starting villagers. I never cared for her personality, and I really couldn't stand her looks in NL. I planned to move her out as soon as possible.

Well, I did eventually move her out, but only so I could get rid of the starter house. I have really come to like her, and can't imagine my island without her.

To be honest, the same goes for Snake (my other starter), since I'm not big on the jocks. But he really strikes me as more of a lazy, and he's just a sweetie.

Louie

I've really hated Jock villagers in this game and it really bothered me when he was one of the starters I got on the 2nd island, but when I looked at him more closely he reminded me so much of the Donkey Kong character. He really started to grow on me. Now just because I have him doesn't mean I like jock villagers. I just wish he would just talk anything else but his abs or workout, but then again Donkey Kong is pretty strong so I can see him working out to build strong muscles (I hate that I have to say that), but other than that he's alright for who he is.

Cyrano. I had him in Wild World, and I thought he was kind of scary-looking. But he grew on me, and became my second-favorite villager until New Horizons came out. Still one of my all-time favorites though. I love the anteaters because of him.

I used to really hate quillson back in New Leaf because he moved on top of some of my first hybrids. I worked as hard as I could to try and cycle him out. Bonking him with the net and such. But he was just so nice to me that I eventually ended up liking him and talking to him every day. When I had him move out in order to make room for my dream villagers, I cried haha

I wasn't expecting to like Marshal. I thought he was overrated for no reason so I disliked him. But I had him in my island for a few days and smth about him made him one of my favs accidentally.

On a less significant note, I got Tutu not because I was attached to her but because I thought her aesthetic was nice. A few days later I was assigning her as my villager's best friend- so that's cool haha.

This was all before I restarted my island though. ^^"

My daughter and I started new islands on new switch lites (we're addicts, what can I say - lol) and my starter sisterly is Cherry. I'm psyched. I love her! :)

My daughter got him for her starter jock on her new island (we started new ones on new devices). We read your donkey kong comment before we started our new islands and because of your comment, she actually likes Louie. She thinks she would have been disappointed to get a gorilla without thinking of him as Donkey Kong, so... thank you!! :)

I just got him on my new island. I'm letting everyone auto-populate - no picking and choosing - just letting the game pick for me. I like the anteaters already, so for me, the only thing I don't love about Cyrano is his eyebrows. They're just a bit much. However, I am still happy to have gotten him, because that's why I'm playing this way. The game will choose villagers for me that I wouldn't pick for myself, and as Klaus has shown me, sometimes the one you think you won't like, will actually grow on you. So, I feel like in no time at all, I will love his eyebrows and find them charming! lol

Okay, so my daughter and I have a bit of a complicated relationship with Quillson - lol. He was her auto-filled smug on her first island, but she never warmed up to him. She was 10 when she started playing (she's 11 now) and she wants her villagers to be age-appropriate for her. The somewhat flirty lines of the smugs, combined with Quillson's half-shut lids, just creeped her out.

After playing for more than a year and he never asked to leave, she resorted to time travelling to get rid of him. In the meantime, I started an island of my own. I visited my daughter's island not knowing that when you do that, you 'link' your islands and will get each other's cast-off villagers. So, yes, after celebrating the eviction of Quillson from her island, we were really bummed when he showed up on mine. I got rid of him asap and thought that was the end of him but when my daughter had another vacancy, he showed back up on her island again! Ugh!

We resorted to buying amiibos to get him off of her island, but guess what? He's back on mine again. He's the guest who never leaves! I don't dislike him for myself, but I already have Klaus and Pietro, both of whom I adore and that's probably enough smugs. I'm waiting for a bunch of amiibos to arrive and I will change Quillson out then.

Spike! He moved into a plot I was saving for Stitches. I thought of kicking him out but while he was there I kinda just fell in love with him. I can’t imagine him not being on the island now. Every time I want to kick someone out he ends up in the never ever leaving pile lol
