I like French and English bulldogs the most. They're most of the dogs I have had. I'm sure there are other breeds out there I'd love. However, I'd prefer on the smaller side. I love the big dogs and all, but I'm scared of them jumping on me. lol
I love all dogs and I favor a lot of different dog breeds. Just to name a few: Pugs, French bulldogs, Newfoundlands, Basset hounds, Corgis, Shiba Inu, Schnauzers, Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Tibetan spaniels, Chihuahuas, Shar Pei, and Mastiffs. Of course, mixed breeds are amazing too!
I do have to say, though, that I only support ethical breeding practices for any dog breed, but particularly those that can have a lot of serious medical issues like pugs and Frenchies.
I'm not sure I have a favorite breed. If talking about looks, I do like how Huskies and Malamutes look. Or even the Elkhound. But I wouldn't want one. Too big, too hairy, too much energy. And personality and temperament of the dog matters to me waaay more than how a dog looks.
Size wise, 20 pounds and under is perfect for me. Probably toy is best which is 10 and under. (Not what Coco is...she is a small dog hitting on the last weigh time as 14 pounds)
Hans is about 7 pounds and I have to admit he is the easiest and most enjoyable to hold out of all my dogs, or to be trampled by. He's like a dog shaped feather and doesn't jab you with his feet. He is half Chihuahua and was a bottle fed runt so he is smaller than he actually should be. His siblings were like double his size and he should have been about Coco's size. He seems to get around fine and for the longest time only weighed 5 pounds. He'll be 11 years old in July.
I don't know how well those teacup size dogs do honestly. But I like the idea of teacup size (6 pounds and under) but idk if it is actually okay like the concerns of certain features in many dogs that were selectively bred.
My favorite is a four way tie between labs, border collies, havanese, and pugs. Labs are huge, charming, and I love the way their fur feels. Border collies are smart to an almost disturbing degree. I have fond memories of playing with my grandpa’s several border collies as a kid. Pugs are ugly, but in an adorable way.
The last breed, havanese, are the ones I’m the most experience with since I had one as my first dog and my mom got another one a few years ago. They’re very friendly, soft, and smart, albeit stubborn. They’re also very high maintenance. Brushing needs to be done every few days and they need grooming every few weeks. They also develop leg problems as they age. Despite being pretty common they’re also very expensive. I adore both havanese dogs I’ve had very much, but I wouldn’t recommend the breed to someone new to taking care of dogs.
I'd probably never own one, but I've always thought samoyeds were beautiful. Some other breeds I like are border collies, beagles, Labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, shiba inu, Siberian huskies, Yorkshire terriers, chihuahuas, and pomeranians
Love my German Shepherds I’ve had along the years. Don’t get me wrong, as much as I love GSDs, and that is all I’ve owned growing up and even now; I love Golden Retrievers. SO SO MUCH. They are so freakin’ cute.
I have always been a ‘big dog’ girl, because I’m so tall and the smaller ones kind of scare me. My mom had always teased me about being around little dogs. Telling me I was so tall I may accidentally step on one. And ever since, I’ve been so worried about that happening.
And yes, I LOVE SHIBA INUS too! The second half of my username is the name of one of my favorite Shiba Inu memes! Cheems / Balltze ! Not to be confused with Doge / Kabosu.
I also really adore Saint Bernards. I want one soooo so bad. They seem like such good cuddlers!!
I love all breeds of dogs (though the ones that suffer from health issues and deformities due to breeding make me sad whenever I see them), but I've always especially loved golden retrievers, brown/black labs, samoyeds, and australian shepherds! I also do really like pugs, but their health issues are so : ( (same with labs/retrievers).
I've never had a dog, and probably never will since cats match my lifestyle and my personality better imo, but I still adore them all the same.
I have to also say golden retrievers as my furry niece is just absolutely gorgeous and has my heart I always post kitty pics so for a change everyone meet Millie
I don't have an absolute favorite, but my family has only ever had one dog breed which is our shih tzu Blitz he is our 14-year-old boy, used to be really mean to others but now that he's old he's really tame. despite his tiny size, he is such a fighter health-wise!
The rest of the dogs we've adopted are all mutts, and I love them! c: We have a dog at our old house taken care of by my grandma, he was just a puppy when he wandered into our house during one Christmas. we tried asking around if he was anyone's pup but to no avail, so we took him in ^^ now he's a big 4-year-old mutt, and I'm happy that even after moving out of the old house 2 years ago, he still remembers me ;w; he's really energetic so grandma lets him run around in front of the house, we have this old garage connected to the front porch but since there's no car anymore, it's just a big space for him now! He's grandma's guard dog so I'm glad things worked out
I've been avoiding this thread because there are too many options! I love medium to large dogs, especially. Just some of my favourites are: Australian Kelpie, Australian Cattle Dog, Dalmatian, Doberman, German Shepherd, and mixed breed dogs.
There are honestly so many dogs though, basically any hound, shepherd, mountain dog, retriever! Malamutes! Some dogs I've never even seen in real life, like Bouvier des Ardennes, Czechoslovakian Vlciak, Giant Schnauzers! Also shout out to some smol dogs: Corgi, Jack Russell Terrier.
I love Dalmatians, but I feel like I see less of them randomly passing by with each passing year - I don't know the cause, but it feels like they're in decline.
Other than that, Borzoi (or Russian Hunting Sighthound, but almost nobody calls them that) are always funny to me and they improve my day with every random encounter
Flatcoated retriever, golden retriever, malinois, groenendaeler (another belgian shephard but idk the english name), saarloos wolfdog
And my guilty pleasure favourite is the french bulldog To bad they are so unhealthy tho
in the netherlands they are working to make the breed healthier, but the appearrance also gets a little less charming then unfortnutaley
Basset Hounds are my favourite! Their droopy eyes, long ears and the way they sniff absolutely everything! Plus, you get plenty of cuddles! I also like Beagles and St. Bernards. I think Beagles would be too high energy for me and a St. Bernard might be a little too big!
