I've never got a shiny rattata either, and I would love to get one with 5 perfect IVs.. I would raise the ultimate rat. Youngest Joey would be proud of me and my rat.
I had a shiny Walrein in some game. they look like drag queens lol

I did it! Today is the day that I finally obtained my first shiny!
I've had shiny Pokemon before but they were either hacked or given through gifts/Wonder Trade. But today, I finally caught my own! Not even using the Masuda Method. I was in jagged path trying to grab all of the items I missed through my first playthrough. Then I got into a random battle. Of course, I was annoyed because who isn't when they get into a wild Pokemon battle? xD Then I saw it was a Numel which I already caught. It then sparkled and my eyes widened. It was gray at the top instead of green. OH MY GOD. NO WAY. A SHINY!!!!!
I was so scared of killing it since my Pokemon were 30 levels higher than it so I threw an ultra ball asap and it caught first shot! ^_____________________^

I got a green Plusle ( or minun, I don't remember ;-; ) while I was spamming Wonder trade, and the little guy shows up, I thought nothing of it until I realized he was a shiny. I have him in my ORAS now <3

mine was a shiny bronzor in platinum... I remember freaking out and talking myself through everything so I didn't kill it, and I made sure to use it throughout the game despite not having the ability I wanted lol

I found a shiny Roselia in the Trophy Garden in Platinum, but I killed it. I did the Masuda method for a couple weeks so I could hatch another one. :')

My first shiny was a male shiny Mareep!!! <3 I named him Hitsuji (Japanese for "sheep"). I had been looking for one for awhile because I REALLY wanted a shiny mega Ampharos because that's my favorite shiny Mega, and I was so happy and excited when I found him in a herd <3

I literally just encountered my first ever shiny pokemon by walking today and I was so shocked, surprised and happy that I dropped my DS. Since we all know that the pokemon platinum games are delicate as **** and even if you nudge it 1mm whilst it's in ur game it'll freeze

I remember, gen 4 a lvl 40-something Floatzle. Pok?mon Pearl. I was just looking for pokes to battle 
. And this lighter-colored, sparkling Floatzle appeared! I caught him, I'm not a cold-blooded shiny killer. lol.

My first shiny was a Teddiursa in Pokemon Diamond; and I think my second shiny happened when I was breeding in Pokemon Y; I got a shiny Porygon .:].
Gen 3, it was a Wurmple, found it behind the flower shop near Petalburg Woods, was sooo long ago but I still remember, also I didn't realize it was shiny because I didn't know what that was, until it evolved into a Beautifly and shined so I must've asked a friend or something.

First was Shiny Crawdaunt in X/Y. I never caught my own shinies before gen 6, but I managed to get one by chain-fishing.
My very first was a golden magikarp in platinum - didn't even realise shinies existed until that point, but managed to get there in the end thanks to the subtle hints from the fisherman npc. Still my most prized catch to this day

Oh, the Nostalgia.
I found a shiny Gastrodon Near Floroma Town in Platinum. I didn't know about shinies then so I gthough it was a glitch and ran away ;_; But luckily I got a shiny Pachirisu while chaining.
