Flowers are worse than weeds

Of all QOL features needed, we certainly needed one for flowers. I had an idea early on where we could have a new tool that is gardening gloves, and if you put them on, you would pick up the entire flower.

Flowers are so gosh darn annoying in this game. =( It's such a daunting task to clean up where they've gone wild.

I know. I remember having to do that on my old island and I had a friend (who is no longer my friend to this day) helped cleared up so much of the flowers because of how cluttered and messy it was. It took us 4 hours to clear it but we did it. I just remembered saying "Man if only there was a way to store flowers in storage"

Mr. Resetti could send an application in to headquarters for a flower cleanup job. Leif could sell a flower sanctuary green house for you to save what you want before Mr. Resetti gets to them. Moles that tunnel near flowers dry the roots out, causing the flowers to wither and die.

If you have a big enough space overrun with flowers, moving buildings is so cheap after the update you can just move houses on top of them to take out a chunk and then move the house back.

I feel this post so deeply. Flowers are beautiful in the game but so…cumbersome. And they’re always vomiting new flower babies in spots where I would rather get spawns of literally anything else. In the first few weeks of the game being released, I was obsessed with flowers because they’re so much prettier in this game and I love how they blow in the breeze. My island is full of them and at this point it’s not even like you can give them away. I see threads in Nooks Cranny sometimes where people are trying to give away hybrids and there’s crickets in the comments LOL

I make flowers beds, so I can have them under control, but in places I want it to be grass and they can grow, I use a custom design with just one pixel of green, so they can't keep growing.

Yeah, it's why I dislike when it rains in this game. Not only it makes the game lag some more, the next day, I need to run around the island to do some maintenance and dump all those new flowers. Weeds in another hand look awesome in this game, and they aren't a plague like the flowers.

I like that they made flowers less delicate in this game, but they made them way too easy to breed as a result. If the spawn rate were a little... lot... lower, it would feel more rewarding to get them, and they'd overrun people's islands less

god do i feel this lol. my island is currently covered in flowers, but i’ve yet to begin organizing or getting rid of any as i’m not sure which ones i’ll be using for decorating yet, and flower removal is just so damn tedious, especially since shovels break. i wish we could pick them up like in previous games or that the terraforming “clean up” feature would clean up flowers as well. heck, even leif having a flower cleanup service would be nice.

tip: on rainy days where it doesn’t rain all day, if you time travel back to an hour on that day when it’s not raining, it’ll undo the watering and no new flowers will grow!

It's because of this that I rarely play during rainy days I got traumatised cleaning up hundreds of flowers off my island then dealing with 30-40 new flowers every time it snowed which seemed like several times a week.

If I do want to play during a rainy day then I just go back to the previous day and load that up, then go back to the real day.

i hate the raining day or the snowing day because of the flowers... ;-; (need always cleaning the island of flowers after the day...) and with the joy-con drift, it's worst!! :C

If not only for maintaining a 5 star rating on my island (for spawning lilies of the valley), I would've removed hundreds of my flowers a long time ago. I prefer weeds in this game more than the flowers. Can be picked up easily too.

I had the horror of having to cleanup half of my island last year because I used to TT a lot and I didn't know that flowers spread wildly if not fenced/blocked in. Spent 3 hours just to fix things up. Still thankful though, because I got hybrids that I've been looking for.

its a nice idea but its so hard to clean the clear custom pathing because its just clear, like you know, clear, and i cant see it. thanks, anyways.

you can edit the design to see the paths, that's what I did to make sure I got every square covered on my island

Exactlyyyyyyyy. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally picked flowers trying to pick up other items around me or kick dirt back into a hole. And then a lot of the times my inventory is full so I have to throw something on the ground and then run to Nook's shop to sell it. I feel that they made a huge mistake with the flower system in general in NH. You can't put them in your storage unless their picked, and they multiply like spiders until they take up your whole entire Island and then EAT EVERYTHING. AHHHHH EAT EVERYTHING.

Just path down a clear custom path around your flowers.
Never deal with flowers spreading ever again.
It a really simple fix

simple until your player refuses to stop picking up the invisible designs on the ground.


I just wish that they were easier to pick up. I hate to have to go through the digging/burying animation for every single flower. maybe there could be a specific item where if you hold it (like a tool) it allows you to easily pick up flowers without digging a hole.

I would use invisible designs, but I don't like the sound (or lack of), and I don't want patches without snow.

I've got most of my island under control for flowers, so it's simply a matter of digging up new spawns after rain. I've put down some glowing moss, and that helps. I get the frustration of having to dig them up, but it's the only way I can see to differentiate between picking and removing flowers. The only other way would be to have a menu come up, like when you click on something in your inventory. And that would really be annoying (I think).

I surrounded all my flowers with items/paths so they couldn't grow. The only ones that are laying around freely are the lily of the valley because they don't reproduce. Too bad the cleanup option from the island designer app doesn't remove flowers. They really should've made it so only flowers watered manually with the watering can could reproduce...
