Flowers are worse than weeds

Its not 3 hours.
That was the time frame to do the whole island without flowers covering up any tiles.
The other time given was if you had flowers in every other tile across the whole map meaning the absolute maximum amount that a person could ever have to do if for some reason they designed their island to just be a grid of flowers.

Realistically a player would spend no more than 30 minutes to do this.
Probably less.

And this process stops flowers breeding in areas you don't want them, so is better in the long run than being able to just kill flowers.
I can back this up on my main island (Destiny) I have the flowers planted in square like areas on the right side of the island and what I did was make sure to cover all of the grass patterns with custom blue brick patterns that I used so it doesn't cause the flowers to grow out of control. I also use custom grass patterns as like "Fake grass" so there are flowers there but they don't breed all over the place.

I will be real and say this took me like 3 hours to do it was back when I was still making this year after deleting my old one.

As someone who finally got around to culling the last really wild part of my island where I was keeping previous extra hybrids, I have to agree. Flowers are very time-consuming to clean up after if you've let them get out of hand. Simply because there is quite a process to dealing with them rather than weeds, which can be picked up and they stack.
Flowers, on the other hand:
- You need to shovel them.
- Fix the hole.
- They do not stack in inventory.
- You cannot even store them.
Needless to say, they can be quite time-consuming for these reasons.

I get what you're saying now. I would had loved to be able to pull up the whole flower like in NL still. Maybe tapping Y twice to pull it and once to pull the petal.

I think I remember flowers in New Leaf being easier to pick up, but they were pretty weak when you run over them they disappear, whereas in this game the pedals are lost but the flower itself does stay. While that is an improvement it still is annoying how you have to dig it up and you have to hope your shovel doesn't break otherwise you can't even plant it in the hole when your shovel is gone.

god, everything in this thread. i have so many and i'm so eager to get home to a good NAT connection so i can invite friends over to take all my flowers. having to shovel them all up and move/sell/trash them just takes so much time and i'm tired of using beach space for some of them, too. i hate that you can accidentally pick them too 😭

I use invisible patterns anywhere my flowers aren’t already blocked by items or paths. It’s worked really well for me. I will never go back to them running wild it was too much work to deal with after.

Yeah, I agree. That's why I went crazy and dug up most of them. I made a garden full of hybrids for future use, but other than blue and golden roses, I've pretty much replaced most of the flowers with the new moss. The moss doesnt function like weeds (the terrible spawning) so I have no issue with them.

At least weeds you can just...pick up.

With flowers it's like.

Shovel them. Cover holes so you can shovel more. Accidentally pick a flower while you try covering the hole with dirt without using the shovel because you're trying to save proficiency on the shovel. Reel off and start shoveling holes closed because your pockets are getting full. Shovel breaks, go buy/make a new shovel. By the time you're done for the night you're exhausted just looking at flowers and don't wanna pull up any more. It rains in the next few days. Flower explosion. Cry.

You know what I wish? That they'd make like...a tractor you could drive over them that harvests the flowers. Now maybe, flowers picked this way wouldn't be suitable for DIYS anymore, to encourage careful picking-and then people could have little "hand-grown, hand-picked!" flower shops when they sell on forums and it'd still be cute as heck. But I'm. So desperately tired of flowers.
Meanwhile, Isabelle is like: "MORE FLOWERSSSSS, MORRREEEE FLOWERRSSSSSSS!!!!!!!"

Omg yes! I'm starting to hate flowers because they are everywhere. I just want some empty spaces without flowers growing in those spaces. Aaah

Seriously, I hate how fast they can spread if you don't pay attention, there's a good reason why I only have a handful of flowers on my island which are surrounded by an invisible barrier made of an transparent path. It gets extremely annoying when you want to redesign your island and you have to dig up at first a ton of flowers which can take forever depending how many you have. I wouldn't have such a huge problem with them if you could at least pick them up as easy as you could back in the previous games, but nope they have to make them as annoying and time wasting as possible in NH. An item which would help in this situation to pick them up faster would have been great and also a reason for me to have more flowers on my island. But since that doesn't exists, I will stick with the some I have, even if it means that I don't reach 5 stars because Isabelle wants to see the island getting drown in flowers which I don't agree with at all.
