• Guest, can you feel the love in the air? Valentine's Week at The Bell Tree has begun with a new mini-event featuring four activities to enjoy -- new and returning collectibles are up for grabs! Dive in to the love here.

Gender stereotypes.

Women are bad at technology/video games.

I went to buy an additional wiimote and nunchuck when the wii was still relatively new. I then got a 10 minute 'lecture' from a sales associate about how complicated it all was: You know you have to have the system for these to work right? Have you ever set one up before? The syncing process is really complicated. Is there someone who can help you?

I was fuming! I asked for the manager, complained, and left the store without buying anything. I went home, got online, and ordered it from Amazon instead. I have not bought anything from a Gamestop since and it has been years! :C

"Men are all the same"

Nice to know.

Oh I hate people who say that! I have certainly met my share of 'bad' men, but I have also met 'bad' women! The majority of both tend to be just fine in my experience! ^-^

I feel the same way, I tend to trust women over men in most cases due to past experiences.

I used to play with dolls when I was younger and I got a lot of harsh comments over that. I intend to add to my collection this year, just to spite them.

It makes me so happy to see little boys playing with baby dolls! I see it a lot at work, and I love that more and more parents are accepting of this. Sorry people were jerks to you when you were young! :C

I just hate it when you can see an obvious difference between boys' things and girls' things.....like I mean........at toy stores, the whole girls' section will be pink or something...... ya know

I have a doll collection as well.

"Men are stronger"

"Women are weak and can't hold their own physically"

This is the stupidest one, and this has died down, but people are still saying, "you fight like a girl" etc etc. Girls can easily hold their own in anything physical, there are hundreds of thousands of female athletes, and its just plain stupid.

"Boys can't cry or they're gayyyyyy"

this one is the dumbest god damn thing ever and it makes me cringe for obvious reasons. Boys can cry. It's called showing emotion, they aren't robots.

When people say that women are too emotional and then go back and say that they are cold-hearted when they are more apathetic or nonchalant.

I always hated when I would go play Friday Night Magic and guys would assume I'm only there to get a boyfriend and that there was no way I could possibly know the game for real. But I did love when I would beat them with decks I made myself and completely shock them.

Not being taken seriously by male peers in math and science courses. "Oh let me do that for you" in labs as if my grade isn't 30% higher than theirs. Now in medicine being told by male doctors that I should pursue family medicine so I have time to raise my theoretical children. I was told by a doctor a couple weeks ago that women shouldn't be neurologists because we're not strong enough. Being called nurse by every older male patient. The list goes on and on. More women need to pursue science careers to prove these idiots wrong.

"Men are rapists."

This really bothers me. Also the idea that men cannot be raped or abused by women. A lady came to my school recently to talk to us about domestic violence and gave us information about shelters in this state. The whole thing was about women being abused by men. I understand that is probably the majority but at the same time men usually don't ever admit to being abused. So we'll never know how many cases there really are. On my mother's side of the family women have been the abusers. My grandmother would get drunk and jump on her husband and throw glass at him, etc.... She did this to every husband she had. My mom is similar but nowhere near as bad. That's part of the reason why it bothers me so much that men are left out of the conversation or that men are usually seen as the villain.

"Women are supposed to clean." Men are just as capable?? Same thing for cooking .-.

My brother in law is an amazing cook! My sister and I always preferred he cook because it would turn out better anyway! ;P

That makes Women seem even more like objects, which is what people unfortunately think they already are.

Men aren't as good as women at multitasking which is a big part of cleaning, although this isn't necessarily true in all cases but most of the time it is.

Honestly, they should just get rid of gender roles. If women still want to cook and clean, they can. But that shouldn't be a woman thing. Men can do this just as well.
