Gender stereotypes.

"if you don't act feminine you're a tomboy!"
"such bold move of you for sitting without crossing your legs!"
"my god! do I see armpit hair? ew"
"lol is that what you call a man-bag?? are you gay by any chance? just wondering"
"do I see tears? man up!"
"us guys don't hug obv because it's an unmanly thing to do"

There was a guy who I was working with and we had to clean a big box full of things (mostly art supplies, but for some reason there was a lot of eyeshadow too)
So I said, oh hey who would throw away some perfectly good eyeshadow
and he wa slike: HMMM HAHA YEAH YEAH YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS AND I DONT MMMM LADIES EYES HA DOEW?? WHATS AN EYE WHAT S SHADOW.
I was just there like ,,, dude,,,,, hakuna your tatas,,,,

tbh that was the first time someone treated me like that and i think it was more about his fragile confidence than me
he seemed really uncomfortable /:

women who like """" masculine """" things like comic books, video games, and such are just doing it for attention and score nerd points, along with being fake nerds.

and guys who like """" feminine """ things like make-up, dresses, and what not are pathetic and laughable.

those two in particular irk me the most because of how stupid it is to place gender norms on hobbies, subjects, and pieces of cloth.

I know I'm super late (I'm sorry)

I'm sick of people thinking that women are more sensitive and caring than men and that if a man is sensitive he's "weak". Also sick of people thinking guys tend to be sexist and can't treat women with respect because literally none of these pasted on labels even make remote sense for me. Like girl you're not even giving me a chance to prove myself trustworthy

"If you're a woman, you're a bad driver"

-_-

Most of the women I know (including adults waaay older than me) are pretty horrendous drivers >__> Also, a lot of the god awful drivers I see tail gating, moving across 3 lanes without signaling, not using turn signals when turning, etc. are women. Not saying that stereotype is completely true across the board (they never are), but I can definitely see where that one stems from.

As for gender stereotypes I think are stupid, I think it's pretty dumb that locker room talk means men horribly misogynistic and sexist now. If anything, women getting so butthurt over things like that reinforces stereotypes like "women are overly emotional and easily offended."

What ever happened to learning to toughen up and getting over things? Life is so much easier that way.

The funny thing is - for the women who like "masculine" hobbies - I've rarely had anyone say anything to me about that. I've never been accused of trying to do it for attention or scoring nerd points. But I am older than a lot of people on these forums. When I was a kid, liking nerdy things actually got you bullied regardless of your gender. You know, just like in Revenge of the Nerds. "Nerdy things" are now somehow cool to like.

My only issues with the women liking "masculine" hobbies is 1) how many times people would be shocked about it (never in a negative way) and 2) rarely finding other women to talk to who also like my hobbies. #2 has always been true. The younger generations seem to have more female gamers, comic book readers, etc - but I've always struggled to find female friends my age who like those things. Especially because some people my age drop those hobbies because they feel they've "grown out of them", or they don't have time for them because they have kids of their own.

" Men cause 6.1 million accidents per year and women cause 4.4 million per year "
" 105.7 million women and 104.3 million men have drivers licenses "

Safer = Better.
More responsible = Better

But that's just my opinion based around facts.

The locker room talk bothers me too, but not in the same way as you. I think women have every right to be disgusted by the vile language men say about their genitalia and breasts behind closed doors, it's horrible and this is coming from a male who actually focuses more on the their personality and them as a person rather than " bedtime" or what have you. Yuck.

Men can of course talk about that stuff, but in a respectful way, talk about how they make you feel appreciated or how you appreciate what they do for you rather than their "privates" and sexual acts. (I'm not talking about every man there is, obviously)

The same applies to Women.

(I assume this is what you mean by "locker room talk" or am I just being a silly dingle?)

The guys like sport better / are sportier thing

Girls at our school aren't allowed to do contact rugby because, I quote, "the boys have more experience."
