Good Looking Towns?

I'm thinking of doing a "portal" town.. aperture science etc. ill make the paths look like the tiles in the test chambers etc. well thats what I'm thinking I might do :) but my gingerbread house may not fit into that theme, I really want a gingerbread house lol

You're my fave but I will also be doing a beautiful town I think Lin and Kos is beautiful!

I cannot stand pathways! I just don't see the appeal of them. My town is going to be very nature-oriented with the Beautiful Town ordinance. I will have plenty of flowers and bushes and will probably do some community projects that fit with the nature/rural theme, like the well! I'm gonna name my town Kanon after the town in Suite Precure!

I am going to have the "beautiful town" law. I'll have lots of winding pathways. I like to have my pathways thin, I don't like the look of those huge paths that take up all the grass space. for community projects I like things that have a "Park" feel to them like benches, lamp posts, flower clock, fountain etc. Nothing too large or "blocky". I'll have different flowers scattered thoughout my town. Not sure if I will colour coordinate. I like a more "wild" feel and not like every flower was planted there on purpose.

So far I have the name "Kismet" for my town but I may change that. Also still not sure what I'll name my character. Was thinking about "Peaches" as its one of my boyfriends "nicknames" for me.

I've never been a fan of all-out pattern towns. Some in the past (looking at Katrina's old Wild World themes) have looked pretty sweet; patterns were spot on. However, they still tend to overwhelm my eye in a bad way. Tacky, I guess?

I'm also planning on running with the 'Beautiful Town' option. The only patterns I'll lay on the ground are probably a simple path pattern (wouldn't lay it everywhere) and maybe a picnic blanket/towel pattern for beaches and near the waterfall. I think my plan is to add a lot of nice looking elements without overdoing it. So lots of flowers, but not having them everywhere all the time. Trees, but not to the point where they're all lined up perfectly or crowd the areas too much. As far as community projects go I've really been liking the Japanese style decor. I can't wait to add some benches, bell, fountains, and lanterns. :3 Plus some of the natural decor (planters, hedges) look decent as well.

just you wait, my town is going to include a CASINO!
it will be on the left side of the plaza.

I'm still debating what I will use my extra player characters for... I'm thinking they'll just have regular houses too, maybe based on original characters' homes.

I am gonna have the beautiful town. I haven't had paths in my town before but i think i will this time. I am just going to get what ever community projects i like.

I am going to try to get as close to a desert town as I can.

I would love a desert town too, but that's a little too much patterns for me! ;D
As far as paths go, i would like to have my Town tree in the centre of the town with the Town hall right behind it so i can make paths going from the tree to some main places.

I like pathways but they won't be connecting everything, They'll just be little pathways occasionally for looks :3

I'm torn between many town theme ideas. On one hand, I really love the Japanese themed community projects and the town hall and train station designs. If I go with that theme, I won't do pattern pathways. I'd want it to be very earthy, with lots of flowers.
On the other hand, I've been watching lots of Downton Abbey, so now I have the urge to turn my town into a cute little village with benches, lamp posts, a windmill, etc for community projects, and then have the mayor's house be like the main estate house. Then I can actually use the Rococo series inside the house, and everything will seem very quaint and early 1900's. c:
The problem is, not only am I torn between those two ideas, but I'm also a huge fan of history and traveling. So I'm tempted to theme my town so that when you're walking through, it's like you're visiting the different wonders of the world. I love the 'World Heritage' community projects, like the Easter Island head statue, Sphinx, Pyramid, Totem Pole, Stonehenge, Wisteria, etc.

Basically, I have no idea what I'm going to do. xD
Perhaps I'll leave it up to fate, and whichever community projects are unlocked for me first, that will be the theme that I go with.

lols. Downton Abbey! :D i just love downton abbey. however, the idea for a world heritage theme sounds cooler. it would be a town i would definitely would like to visit through the dream mansion

going with night owl and town will be a small town with a modern themed. its like being away from the city with nature but still feels like still has it has all the cool stuff.

will have paths but not too many trying to find those that really look like walkways, have a few saved but always looking for more. I also have an idea on what projects i want to fit a modern village theme.

Hah! I've been watching a whole lot of Downton Abbey lately as well! I love the ideas you've got from it. Hopefully there's enough community projects that look like they would fit into that era that we can use :p

Has anyone wanted to make an Adventure Time themed town? I might make a house themed that way.

I prefer to not try and set my town as a theme based off stuff on television. :3 I feel that it stifles my creativity and makes it harder for me to really get a nice looking appearance for whatever I'm working on.

Thanks! Even if they don't have a lot of community projects that fit in exactly, we can always just make it look like a cute little village/park. Really, I just love the show and wanted a theme that would tie in with the Rococo series, because I love it so much, haha! :)

Yeah, but Adventure Time is so fantastical and colorful, it just seems to fit. Also, the bunny hood makes for an easy Fionna knock-off :3

Yeah, it does actually! And you could make a dress that looks like Fionna's shirt and skirt!

If you can get some long white socks and a nice pair of shoes it'd be really easy to make an Animal Crossing Fionna!

Then you could make a pattern that looks like Cake and you can fill the house with Cake furniture. xD
