big boy season
My sister loves making them, but then again, she’s better at crafts than I am. I think they’re cute and fun, though.
Love that idea! I think Oreo even has a Halloween gingerbread house?? Also I feel like I made an Easter one a few years ago.Yay for decorating gingerbread houses in general. They should be more common for every holiday; like how cute would a Valentine's gingerbread house be??
Although I think I'd prefer a different kind of cookie construction material. Like sugar cookies. Never been a fan of eating gingerbread cookies
Aaa, thank you for the mention! I'm surprised anyone remembers my little Halloween town!I love the idea even though I never build gingerbread houses. My family didn't build them when I was growing up, but I got a chance to try one at work as a team-building project. Let's just say I did more harm than good. But I would love to see what others could do.
If I remember correctly, @S.J. did a spooky gingerbread town for last year's Halloween event and it was amazing!
Yeah, we don’t eat them. We make them and let them sit around a while as seasonal decor. It’s also fun to see my cat approach them lol.Gingerbread houses aren't meant to be eaten, they're for decoration. Which is probably why they don't taste very good. The ingredients in the icing are supposed to act as a glue.
Plus the way some people decorate them, you'd probably not want to try eating them anyway. When my younger cousins would make them, they'd just unload all the candy to the point that there wasn't even a house anymore.
But a Halloween themed gingerbread house sounds cool. I'd think to do it right, you'd have to bake the gingerbread and not just use generic crackers so you could make really spooky shapes with the foundation.
Or just use darker colors. Like black, brown, gray, red, and orange.
