I was born and raised by a beach, and when we moved to a new place as a child that new place was an island! I've grown up around beaches, and me and my boyfriend often talk about how weird it feels to be in London away from the water. Just a few days ago I was in Cornwall and I went swimming there, which was an amazing experience and a nice taste of home since I used to live in Devon.

When I was young my family moved to the south coast England and lived very close to the seafront, could see it from my bedroom window, so spent a lot of time in summer down there. I’ve also been on a number of beach holidays abroad and a couple of cruises so seen quite a lot of ocean away from home too - I’m not a huge fan of the ocean (think it’s the not knowing what’s lurking down there) but there are some very beautiful beaches around the world.

Ill vote in the future.
I have never seen the ocean. The closest thing I have seen to the ocean is Lake Michigan and it's sand dunes. Some people, I think mostly foreigners? will call Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes in general a Sea(s). The reason being because of thier size and it can have its own weather or even a hurricane. Hurricane Huron was a category 1. A Sea doesn't have to be salt water either. The Baltic Sea is brackish water. The Great Lakes (Lake Michigan is a part of this) are all fresh water. I assume that's why they have Lake in their name despite these other traits. Some people have claimed to have seen sharks in the Great Lakes but no proof has been presented. Fresh water sharks do exist though and other sharks exist that travel to brackish or even freshwater for a season, usually for spawning purposes. Sometimes sharks are found in the Mississippi River up in the Illinois area.
Anywho, I'd like to see the ocean one day. Idk if I will though.

When I was a kid my family used to visit Guaymas and Puerto Peñasco in Mexico. Both cities are on the Gulf of California which is considered to be a sea of the Pacific Ocean.I've also been to some beaches near Los Angeles and San Diego and spent some time in Maui,Hawaii. The beaches on The Gulf of California were teeming with all kinds of sea critters and seashells. The beaches on Maui are beautiful and I definitely got an idea of how vast the Pacific Ocean is.

Yes, a handful of times. One of the good things about California is that beach is only ever a few hours away from you.

With that said, I don’t remember the last time that I actually swam in the beach. Maybe when I was a preschooler. I usually just stick to land and enjoy the view.

I'm literally at the sea/beach right now. LOL (oops)

Even if we make a difference between seas and oceans (which seems pointless), I've been to an ocean in Japan yeah.

unfortunately no, but i’ve flown over the ocean so there’s that 😀 other than that i’ve been to lakes but have never swam in any of them

I've swam in the Atlantic Ocean.

Granted, it was in the archipelago of the caribbean and the water there is very calm.

I live not too far away of the beach, I do have to at least take the train/bus to actually see the ocean even if seagulls sometimes do reach my town (nasty fellows compared to Gulliver tbh)

Yes, I have been to the ocean many times. When I go on holiday I love to go to the sea. It is my favourite place and I find it so relaxing. I have not been on holiday in a few years and I miss being by the sea. One day I would love to live by the water. It is a dream of mine.

My mom always loved the sea and had the same dream, she recently retired and accomplish that dream so I wish you the same luck!

Yes! Twice as I live inland so I don’t see it often.

Once like 16 years ago I got to see the Eastern coast of Canada. And more recently a couple years ago I got to see the ocean in Hawaii.

I live in the middle of the U.S., so I didn’t see the ocean until I was an adult. My partner’s family currently lives in Florida, so five years ago, about six months after we started dating, we made a road trip to visit them and I got to see the ocean for the very first time.

I absolutely loved it! I spent hours running into the waves and feeling them slam me backwards into the sand. We’ve visited his family a few times now, so I’ve seen the ocean three times total. Hoping to see it again this year.

I’d love to live somewhere where the ocean was nearby, but I also hate year-round heat. Maybe the northeast or northwest coasts?

Yes. I used to live in the middle of the US, but now I live very close to the Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. I've been going to beaches here every once in a while. =) Many years ago, I also saw the Pacific ocean in Southern California.

I live in a landlocked area but I have been lucky enough to visit places and see the Pacific ocean a few times. I would love to see the other oceans too! 🌊

Yes, lots of times! I don't live next to the ocean so you do have to specifically go out that way, but still close enough that it's not difficult. I normally go to the beach anywhere between 1-10 times over the summer and a couple throughout the rest of the year. I didn't realise until I got older that some people have only seen the ocean a couple times in their life, or at all. I really love the ocean, visiting, walking along it and swimming in it! And it's so cool when you look down and see fish swimming around you!!

Ocean? Oh, the big blue wet thing!
Yeah, I've seen the ocean plenty of times (specifically the Pacific), I live pretty close to the coast, used to take road trips along it as a kid.
I still see it fairly often, especially if you include the Pudget Sound as ocean.

I have! I've lived in a landlocked state for most of my life but I love the ocean with my whole heart. I've been to a couple beaches along the East Coast in the States and the Gulf of Mexico, so I've only ever seen the Atlantic, I'd love to see the others!

yeah, loads of times! i live about a two hour drive from the beach but we used to go fairly regularly throughout the summer, and if we go on holiday it's always somewhere near a beach. i'd love to live closer in the future - the thought of just being able to pop down to the beach is so exciting to me

Yes! I have been to beaches in Hawaii and California, and maybe from some other places? I have beaches where I live but they are freshwater lakes lol
