Have you been to the ocean?

Have you seen the ocean for yourself?

You could consider visiting ocean or the beach as an average Tuesday when you basically lived on an island. (Especially when you lived in the Philippines like i did lol)

And yes, I do visit beaches sometimes during vacation. I really love the seaside especially the feeling of seeing boats passing by or catching a whiff of the sea air.

Although, the place is extremely hot so we're thinking about swimming.

I've been to the ocean plenty of times. I grew up about an hour from the Oregon coast and my parents took me there several times when I was younger. Every beach in Oregon belongs to the public and the scenery in some parts is some of the best in the U.S, but like most of western Oregon are overcast for a large part of the year and the water is always too cold to swim in unless you're wearing a wetsuit. Looking at waves is amazing though and the Oregon coast has tons of cute small towns to visit. Lincoln City was my favorite as a kid, but now I've been to Newport I think I prefer that town. I also got to see the Pacific Ocean when I was on a cruise to Alaska when I was around 17. Looking out to see the open sea as I in between stops at glaciers and remote port towns was amazing.

When I was 15 I went to Ellis Island near New York City and I got to see the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. The waves looked very different from the Pacific Ocean and seemed a little too calm. The water wasn't nearly as clear or colorful either, which was likely because of the pollution from the city nearby.

YES i love the sea , i'm about a 20/30 minute train away from the sea and i try to go as much as i can , actually i was at the beach on friday doing a beach clean up with my work !

i'd love to move to a seaside town but i'd miss the city too much i think , but i did genuinely look at places when i was looking to buy , i often kind of regret it

i used to go often when my family lived in jersey! i wasn’t the biggest fan of the ocean when i was younger, but i miss it a lot now that i am landlocked TT

I’ve gone on a ferry and a “cruise” (it was supposedly a cruise but it really wasn’t) before, so I’ve come pretty close to the sea, but I’ve never actually gone in.

I live on a coastal state, and I don't live super far from the ocean. I've seen it plenty of times, but I am also not a huge fan of the beach or the ocean to be honest. I don't like how crowded the beach gets also people seem to be surprised that the water is cold here in the ocean. I think it can be very pretty, but I definitely don't ever crave or have an urge to go to the beach/ocean.

I've been to the beach on both the West Coast and the East Coast, so I've seen the ocean quite a few times. Currently I'm living on the West Coast and live close to many beaches, though I haven't visited any recently. While I like to relax and watch the view of the waves, I'm not a big fan of the beach because I'd much rather swim at a public swimming pool than the ocean. I also don't like getting sand all over my feet, though building sand castles is fun.

I never thought I would be an ocean girl, until I went to Hawaii. I was actually dreading my 1st trip there, but now my family has gone 3x & we love it! The lagoons in Ko Olina just hits different than any other beach we have here in CA, & I can stay out on those waters for an extended amount of time. It’s just so peaceful & relaxing, & I hope to go back there again soon. Other beautiful beaches I have been blessed to be able to visit is Nassau, Bahamas & Coron, Philippines.

i used to live in a beach city so i would go every once in a while! my boyfriend also lives in said beach city so we do visit the coast also

I've always lived on a coast! I grew up in California, then I lived in New York for a while (for a while I was in upstate New York, but then I was for a long time on Long Island), and now I'm back in California. My parents are from Taiwan, so that's a little island too. So there has always been ocean around!
I think a lot of societies have developed around waterways as a way to transport goods and culture, so it is unusual to me to hear of people who have never seen the ocean. But with modern technology, cars and such, maybe that's easier now.
When I was in Chicago recently though, I was reminded that the Great Lakes are really huge! If I saw that growing up, I'd think that was like the ocean! So, maybe for those folks who haven't seen the ocean, are they near a river or other waterway/body of water?

Yes! I've experienced it when I visited my family relatives in the Philippines a few times throughout my life. It was quite the experience when I accidentally tasted the sea water for the first time ever chilling by the waves. Very salty that's for sure. 😂

I have been to the ocean! I've visited Vancouver Island and Prince Edward Island. It was still chilly when we went to Vancouver so we didn't go swimming but I did see a seal so I think that's a fair trade off. We spent more time in Prince Edward Island and it's absolutely gorgeous. I think it would be neat to go to Greece one day (as long as I don't melt first) and see the ocean there, too!

Yes, I've been to the beach three times in my life so far! I really like the ocean. It's very calming to feel the ocean breeze, wade around in the water, and look around for seashells to collect~

yep! I love the ocean and all of the crabs in it. I've lived in two coastal states where I was within driving distance to a beach, and i've loved it. it's more difficult for me to get to the ocean now, but that makes it all the more special.
