Have you ever broken your phone?

I've only managed to break my phone once, and that was 6 years ago. It was a Samsung Galaxy S5 (my first smartphone), just over a month owning it and (like a dummy) I had it in my front-right shorts pocket with the screen facing away from me. I was going to my university class, and when I was going to open a door into the building, I managed to smash my right leg against a door handle, which broke not only the screen but the phone itself. oops. I've been much more careful with my phones since then.

Not my current phone *knock on wood*

My first slider keyboard phone I actually dropped in a beverage 😭 took it apart and kept it in rice for 2 days, and it still worked!

Accidentally drowned a previous Android of mine also but it did NOT break, which is amazing?

My last phone just stopped holding a charge.

Have I officially broken a phone? I'm gonna vote no which is very enlightening now that I'm reflecting lol

If my husband had to answer this question his answers would be very different lmao

I had one instance where i cracked my phone screen, glad it was still able to work.
How it broke? me climbing up a ladder to the roof because it was for an art film piece project for school. X:

unfortunately, yes. my first ever phone was the iphone 5S back in 2015-2016 (?) and while it was outdated, i was still incredibly grateful for it. one day at school, i was messing around on my phone, waiting for class to start when suddenly, the game that i was trying to play kept crashing. so, i did what i would normally do and attempted to restart my phone, only for it to get stuck on the apple logo screen 💀. a $100+ appointment at the apple store gave me access to my phone again (which had somehow retained water damage :/) but by this point, the screen had popped off and i couldn’t use the camera nor could i see the screen properly.

thankfully, i was able to get the iphone 6 (also very outdated,, i know😭) and i’ve yet to break it so,, fingers crossed lmao. although, i did manage to dislodge my sim card after accidentally dropping my phone but fortunately, it was a fairly easy fix and everything’s good now. :’)

I've never actually broke or even cracked a phone until a few weeks ago :( It was pretty old (iphone 5s) so it was on its deathbed anyway. It still technically works, the screen is just blank :'P

one time i got angry and threw my phone (it was a slidey type of qwerty phone) OTL and ever since i try to not throw expensive things again

considering the amount of times I've dropped my phone I'm surprised it's only been badly damaged once. A couple of years ago I dropped my phone at the time (an iPhone SE) right on the corner of a metal clothes stand in H&M. it was totally shattered at the top and over time all the glass started to fall out of it. luckily my phone was due an upgrade at the time 😅

The phone previous to this one
The iPhone 6, I’m pretty sure so broke the screen like 3 times. The first time I broke it by falling. Got it fixed only to break it the next day again , same issue, just fell. The third I dropped it again while volunteering at a cattle show. I didn’t even enjoy the show that day ( I was so disappointed about the phone). Since then I have learned the importance of having good covers.
Those glass protectors don’t work for me.

I've broken two phones
one I dropped on concrete and the screen broke, but the other was on soft dirt and somehow broke the screen?? I'm just cursed lol
so my current one has a good case and screen protector xp

Expecting to hear lots of horror stories. I've had three phones so far and I've only cracked one of them (knock on wood). It was pretty dumb - it just fell out of my pocket and onto the floor when I was walking in my house. It wasn't a very far or hard drop but it caused a crack across the screen - or so I thought. Turns out it was just the screen protector and the actual phone was ok, thank kracko. I only had to pay like $20 to replace it.
i have! i accidentally dropped an old phone i used to have and i cracked the screen, i wouldnt have minded the crack but a part of the screen didnt react to touch anymore so i had to get it fixed

Thankfully not so far! I've always made sure to use protective cases and I usually keep my phone either on a safe spot on my desk or in my bag. I get pretty nervous about expensive electronic things, eheh.

this is a 2 parter: I had a Samsung Galaxy S4. I put the thing in my back shorts pocket - a very small pocket - when it was pouring, I made a short 3 second dash from the car to the front door, and during these few seconds the phone fell out of my pocket and I didn't even notice - too wet, too loud. later that night, my dad came home and handed me the phone: can't remember what it was like but it was unusable. sooo we took it to a repair shop. Because it was Samsung, parts came cheap and readily available, all had to be done was replace the screen.
Then months later (I still keep it in my back pocket) I sat on the 3rd party "new" screen and broke it. The phone still worked (if i plugged it into computer) it just would not display anything :/

I bought an iphone later that day and I'm still using it now. AND I SIT ON IT ALL THE TIME

No, I haven’t broken any of my phones. With the exception of two, I’ve bought my own phones. I guess the fact that it’s my money makes me be extra careful with them, as screwed up as that may sound. On the other hand, I’ve broken a lot of Nintendo handhelds. I’ve dropped a 3DS off a patio once and it snapped in half completely. I’m way more careful with phones.

I’m a pretty clumsy person. 👀 My last phone I replaced because it was getting old, but the two before that were 1) dropped down the stairs on a boat, and 2) run over by my own car. I swear I do try!

This morning I tried to turn my phone alarm off and pushed my iPad on the floor. Didn’t break! 😍

It seems I don’t have a green thumb for electronics (or whatever coloured thumb it would be)… Be it notebooks or smartphones, there just seem to be so many chains of weird coincidences that lead to the malfunction of one. As for my smartphones:

my very first one was a htc handmedown. It was super glitchy already when I got it. At one point it fell and the screen broke and with it half of the phone was paralysed and I could only use the bottom half of the screen.

Next came along a Sony xperia Z2 I believe. I had it for a good long while, but wanted to root it. I was very inexperienced and got the phone stuck in a boot loop. It couldn’t be fixed.

Next came along another Sony xperia, but a compact version. We lived together happily for a few years. One evening I set it down beside me and went to sleep. When I woke up the screen was cracked. Now how on earth did that happen?! I was convinced I had sleep walked and slam dunked my phone on the floor by accident. That wasn’t it, the battery had expanded to the point that the pressure cracked the screen. The repairman told me I was lucky it didn’t blow up.

After that I bought a second hand iphone 6s. It was pretty and the camera amazing. I worked at a special needs school at the time and one of the kids had found my phone lying around defencelessly. He thought it would be neat to let it have a swim in the school toilet. That was the end of my first iphone, it couldn’t withstand the water.

Now I’m on yet another iphone 6s which I also bought used a few years ago. So far so good but knock on wood.

I will not go into detail about the two laptops I accidentally destroyed 👉🏼 👈🏼

My phone has a scratch or two on it but it's not too broken. It's an iPhone with the durable glass on it (Gorilla glass? I forget what it's called).

Surprisingly no. I've dropped it multiple times over the years but most I've ever gotten was a small scratch.

In the past, I only ever broke them digitally by messing with the operating system too much (nothing a reinstall couldn't fix).

About a year ago, I did start using my current phone without a cover because it is running on the slow side and its battery is bad, but I do hate replacing electronics that aren't actually broken. A few weeks ago it finally happened, it fell off my drum kit onto a metal pedal and broke the rear glass!

...so now I just use it with a cover again because it is still functional. 👻
