Maybe I misunderstood the Nintendo Direct trailer for HHP, but I was under the impression that the items you can buy at the HHP store with Poki were unique to the DLC, and that you couldn't buy them on your base island/in Nook's Cranny. I've been seeing several of the same items for sale in both stores now so I guess that's not the case. 😅 Anyone know if there are any items specific to HHP apart from the souvenir chocolate?

TBH, I've been wondering the same thing. Counters, pillars, and the walls are exclusive, as are the few HHP themed items, but IDK if there's any other exclusive furniture.

That being said, the expansion makes filling your catalog almost TOO easy and I find it's worth it just for that 😛 But, no the items you buy from the shop are not exclusive to HHP, and I don't believe they ever said they were. It just gives you a lot more chances to get items you don't have
you can order items directly from your unlocked catalog on the island.

Not 100% sure, but most items seem to be shared.

There are a few items that are DLC-exclusive, though, like the special shirt that you can buy after the story conclusion, and the milestone rewards, as well as a few DIYs.

The DLC does make it infinitely easier to get all of these new items, though.

Ahh, ok. All my HHP items so far have been totally new, which kept me under the impression they were exclusive for longer. I guess that's good news for people who don't have the dlc so they won't be missing out on a bunch!

I think part of the confusion may be that it came out as the same time as the update, which introduced a BUNCH of new items to the base game. From my experience, the HHP island tends to favor the newer items, but I could be wrong about it- that's just seems to be how it's been working for me! I mostly see new items on the resort island, but occasionally see them in my Nookling's store, just not as often.

There ARE some additional furniture items locked behind some Amiibos
NPC photos you receive after you design their house
And a pretty big non-furniture surprise tied to the completion event you unlock after 30 houses designed
The eleven exclusive dancing reactions

The items also seem to be (or at least have a chance to be) different colors by default in HHP compared to your store, much like Redd’s - I got a green banker’s lamp from Wardell’s and orange at Nook’s. Matters less once you have the alpacas, but it saves some bells you’d otherwise spend to customize and it’s helpful if you want more than one of an expensive item.

Make sure you check the HHP items in their catalog. They have some SUPER cute themed hhp items for sale!

Okay from what I understand it is possible to get the new items and new diys without the DLC, but I think certain items like the Partial walls cannot be obtained if you don't have the DLC same goes for some of the features that are locked behind the DLC like the feature to customize villager homes on your island. I think you need to keep an eye on your Nook Shopping in the "Special" section, check Nook Cranny's to see if they have any of the new items, and of course check any Nook Mile island or villager crafting to see if you can get the new DIYs.

I think its best to have the DLC because at least you can get most of the new items from Lottie's office using Poki to buy them.

Alongside the chocolates, DIYs for counters and partition walls, and the exclusive reactions, these are the items exclusive to purchase in HHP.
Not many.
