What do you think about hotels? I loved them as a little girl (I am 18 now). We barely stayed in them, so it was still kinda new and exiting for me. They were cozy to me. We actually went to them for actual REASONS!

Flash forward to late April 2015 (16 month period). You see, we have been getting a lot of rain lately where I live. El Nino reached its peak last Summer, resulting in flooding issues. In late April of last year, we went to hotel for a week and we did it again at the end of June last year as well. We've also been staying in them a lot this Spring and Summer...like right now.

TBQH, I get kinda melancholy just being stuck for a few days without doing much. Hotels (or at least the one we go to due to rain) aren't built for a second home to go to all because of rain. They are built to be a relaxing place to stay when you go on vacation/business trips. Other people are always going to try to be sleeping in the room and in next door, so you have no choice but to be pretty much silent and feel lazy. You can't just carry on as normal, you get no privacy, no sleep (if you're like me), and you kinda go a little crazy from being in a small room. I know my parents are just trying to keep my brother and I out of the rain, but there is still such thing as "overboard".

So what about you guys? What is your opinion on hotels?

I've never stayed at a hotel lmao, but I always get excited whenever I see one...tbh, I hope I get to stay in a hotel at least once in my lifetime.

They're a place to sleep when you're out of town. I don't see the point of staying at an expensive luxury hotel as a "second home" since ideally I'm actually doing stuff around town when I'm on vacation and experiencing the place I'm visiting. As long as hotels are maintained at a reasonable standard, they're okay.

I think I would still like hotels when my family is on busy and on vacation, but if we have to stay in one for days due to weather, THAT'S when they get to me.

o yeah also free breakfast

i love hotels . my dad used to book the best ones cuz he is a picky guy. i mostly like the food. its so good. and the freegiant popsicles they gave out in the mexico one. its fun

I prefer hostels not only because they're ridiculously cheaper but because they have a social/community atmosphere. Well, most of them. :p Hotels are really sterile but at the end of the day they both serve the same purpose, somewhere to sleep.

I used to go to a lot of really nice hotels when my mom had a rich boyfriend, it was always nice but we were never really forced to stay in for days, we got to go around wherever we were at for vacation and do all sorts of things, but even if we didn't the hotels were usually big suites so it would be normal and we could still do everything we'd do at home.

I loved staying in hotels until last year. I ended up staying in this trashy hotel because my mom was working in the panhandle of Texas and that was all that was available. The first thing that happened was that the wifi password was "anexkiller" like the place already looked like something from a horror movie so that was a nice touch. D:

The second night I noticed a bug on my pillow and little did I know that it was a bedbug and that they would be feeding off of me for the two weeks we were there. Literally the worst experience of my life. I read online that they feed off of the first person they find and guess what? That person was me. My mother never got bitten but I had clusters of bites all over my body. It was really creepy. They got to the point where they were attacking me during the day and even with the lights on at night. I wouldn't even be asleep yet and they would already be on me. I eventually stopped sleeping all together. I put my luggage in the bathroom in hopes that they wouldn't follow me home (they didn't) One day after not sleeping for two days straight one crawled on my leg and after I knocked it off I noticed that one was running towards me on the night stand. After that I started sleeping in the bathtub which usually I couldn't (so uncomfortable) so I mostly didn't sleep at all. It traumatized me for awhile after. I'd still check my sheets all throughout the night months after I left that place. I would get up in the middle of the night in a panic because I thought I felt something on me.

My dad used to live in a hotel for 3 years because he worked at the casino there. When my mom, bro and I went to visit we'd stay in a suite next door. I remember staying in hotels a lot as a kid because my dad would go to casinos and I'd just chill in the hotel with my bro. I have a lot of pictures of me and my bro doing stupid **** in hotel rooms that my mom took but I vaguely remember it.

They're definitely sweet, a lovely experience staying in a place different than your house.

Especially love them on hill stations though.

I work in a hotel, so after the past year the novelty has worn off.

The nice perk is though that I get good deals off of other hotels internationally, so that's always a plus. I especially enjoy when you chat them up and they give you a free upgrade.

When I was younger my family spent 3 weeks in hotels during holidays. It was nice once we got home and had our own space. However, in October I am staying in a hotel for a week, so that will be interesting. We have one room that is a suite with floor to ceiling windows and an amazing view.

I do not sleep well in hotels either. The beds are kinda hard and it can really be annoying with you have your family member(s) snoring and making other slumber noises.

I mostly view them as a 'means to an end', a necessity of not necessarily being at home.

Whenever I've been to one I've never really spent much time in them, I would rather be out seeing what's around. I stayed in one once that had a suit of armor in the room, but the novelty wore of pretty quickly. The ones with pools are fine I guess, but again, I would probably rather just go outside the hotel and nosey around at the weird local stuff.

As far as sleeping goes, I struggle sleeping in 'unfamiliar' places, so if it's like a holiday or something I'll probably only be getting comfortable enough to get a full nights sleep in the last few days.

i like being in hotels , i'm actually going on vacation today for a week and i'm so excited . the only thing is that every hotel always seems to have the rooms freezing , and i always have to raise the temperature or i wake up in the middle of the night

I don't like them, because I have a hard time sleeping. My entire family snores very loudly, and I am a light sleeper. Ear plugs don't work for me, so when I go to hotels I either have to sleep in the bath tub or sleep with 50 pillows over my head and nearly suffocate myself. I never get a good rest when I go to one.
