How did you name your island?

Shinsufiru: I was thinking of Ōkami’s Shinshu Field and at the time had a plan of recreatimg it. But Shinshu Field didn’t fit, so I shortened it.
It took months before I realised I missed the second h in Shinshu. Though if I remember correctly it was a 10 letter limit, so if I’m right the h wouldn’t have fit in anyway.~

I love the look of natural, old timey islands. The island I am playing on now wasn’t my original one, which started as a fairy forest theme.

Elderwyn was a name I thought of randomly. I wanted a skyrim type vibe at first, and the name just stuck.
It is now a natural island with pink and white florals and light wood. I feel like it still fits it’s name.

I'm actually kinda disapointed in myself for only thinking of that name a few days ago when i restarted.

Wuhu (hesitated with Wuhu Island), it's simply the name of the Island in the wii sport resort and fit you play in. As a kid, that was a big safe space for me and i dreamed of living on that Island. Now i'll make my own ! Could finally the one that savefile !

I didn't know what theme I was gonna go for. I didn't have a name in mind. I usually choose 'Eastwood' but for New Horizons, I chose Mystery ... because I liked the mystery of not knowing idk

Nishikigoi - named for koi fish which I love and fits asian inspired town
Kopakonan - named after selkie legend/myths and for my horror inspired town

I remember I took forever to find a name..... I spent time writing down all the ideas and words I wanted to use before the game came out.

In the end I went with an Italian name as I am Italian :)

My island is called Cosa Bella which translates to Beautiful Thing 🌸

This is what I keep within the Island theme I have a lot of flowers, gardens and water displays and have the "beautiful" look.

played wild world and randomly thought of Mangolove cuz I love mangoes but the character limit so i said Mangoluv. That name had a tang so I made it my NH island name idk. Would've went hard in New Leaf with the mango trees though

i knew i wanted a citycore theme and looked up "abandoned town names" and calico came up :)

I wanted to do an island based on one of my top ten favorite video games (in this case, Final Fantasy VIII), so I named my island Timber, after an important town in that game. Even if I don't follow through with the FFVII theme, Timber is still a good name.

I named my island Fablehaven from the Fablehaven series and it matches the fairy theme of my island.

I named my island El Mirador based off of a park I used to go to when I was little. I wanted to keep the name neutral so I could do any theme.

My town in New Leaf was called New Leaf because I couldn't decide on a good name so when I got New Horizons I decided to call my island New Island. It may seem too simple of a name but the more I think of names the more I think I might regret the name in the future. New Island was a great fail safe

I named my Island "Phirone". It's a place from The Legend of Zelda. I absolutely love Twilight Princess and it's a part that is called like that.. also happens to be one of my prefered places of the game! And I also love the sound and look of the word "Phirone". :D

I named it sakura bc I really love cherry blossom trees but I got oranges for my island and was too lazy to reset it so Im just stuck with an island called sakura but with orange trees 💀💀

My new island is named Blackfish, I was originally gonna just name it Orca (cause I just love them so so much) but then I remembered Orcas island is a thing (not named after the creature but a Spanish explorer) so went with Blackfish which is actually the name indigenous groups used for them (and the amazing documentary name)- and since a large part of my family is native from Canada/northern US (one side from British Columbian area the other from New York/Canada area lol spanning the continent) it seemed to fit. Although I am worried that people will think it has to do with the slang.

At least you can replace the majority of them with like peaches or somth! Native fruit isn't as lucrative anyway

i named mine good, just good, my island isnt good in any shape or way (except the random trollface pin laying on the ground)

I was struggling to find the perfect name that was both unique and had an island-like feel to it.

To solve this dilemma, my brother suggested that I name it Pianta Bay, after Pianta Village in our favorite game, Super Mario Sunshine.

I named mine Fandesu cause it’s Japanese for I’m a fan and I wanted to make my island full of things I am a fan of.

I come up with island (and town) names by mashing words together. My current islands are called Roseberry and Mapledove. I also had an island called Teapalm. My New Leaf town is called Lemonpaw. c': I just play around with words until I find something that sounds good to me and matches the overall aesthetic I want to convey. Plus I love how vague they can be, so I'm not locked into one theme in case I want to switch things around.

My new island is named Honeydew. I was gonna name it stardew, since I love stardew Valley and then Honeydew popped into my head and I was just like "yesss". If u are really struggling to find a name i recommend looking up some names that match your theme (if you have one).
