How do you come up with what clothes to wear in Animal Crossing?

I normally pick whatever clothes I feel like wearing at the moment. I like to collect clothes in the game like Pokemon, so when I go to let's say Harv's Island, I can come up with all sorts of clothing combos from all the clothing items I already have. I don't really have a specific aesthetic as far as favorites go, but I really like choosing outfits with at least 3 colors in mind (ex: green, white, and black). It's kinda hard to explain, so I'll just show some photos.

with my players/characters throughout the series, I create an outfit for them that is sort of a reflection of their personality. specifically referring to my NH player Taylor, he is snooty and pompous so I wanted his outfit to give off rich grandpa vibes hehe.

and then other outfits that he might wear can vary, though they all use the glasses and moustache because that's just part of who he is.

I’m working on my clothing catalogue now and I’m almost done. I’ll definitely take some time to try to come up with more outfits then .

Depends on how I'm feeling or the weather. I typically dress for the season. I change clothes every time I log on. Sometimes I cosplay, lol.

It honestly takes me a while with a bit of constructive criticism on my player’s outfits I want them to have on.

Once I give out an idea of how I want their personality to be displayed, I start to look for clothing that best matches their personality.

My Island Rep is a sophisticated barista who likes to mix and match the clothing he has on. Being a normal person who casually puts whatever on that still makes him look stylish, even if the clothes in the outfit doesn’t match the aesthetic theming.

Another is someone I made up just for the sake of having more players in my island, this one portrays himself as a cool guy who likes to dress in cool clothes all around him except for his shoes and socks.
He thinks being a barefooter is because it makes him look cooler and tough, and is proud to do so whenever he walks around.

I have more characters to create, I just don’t know when that’ll happen, but when I do I’ll know what they’ll look like.

FYI. When I make outfits, I usually only make them wear one, and have them adjust accordingly to the seasons, except for my Rep.

I pick an item I like and build an outfit around it, I try to find other items that match the color, theme, or just look good together. I like to wear as many things at once as I can.

99% of the time I just wear outfits I'd wear in real life. My character is an idealized version of me and that's always what I have the most fun playing as.

I usually have a theme in mind— like I’ll put on something studious-looking, or a “rich lady” outfit of a nice skirt, coat, pantyhose, and heels. Other times I’ll run around in a bathrobe, slippers, and a face mask— fresh from the spa! Or any variety of my costumes lol. I think my villagers are slightly afraid of me.

My New Horizons rep's been wearing the same outfit for the most part since 2020. I've come up with a handful of new outfits since, but I like my OG outfit so much still that I always end up reverting back to it. I've yet to come up with an outfit I like more.

I'll sometimes have a theme in mind when coming up with a new outfit (ex. seasonal, something I'm fixated on, a TBT event, etc), but my goal is always just to dress my character up in outfits that I'd personally wear irl!

I honestly just wear whatever I’m feeling at the time, sometimes that means keeping the same outfit on for months lol. But I do try to find one outfit I like for each season at least just so my rep not wearing shorts and a tank top while it’s snowing in winter lol

Wearing anything that looks fun or interesting. I usually like to dress my character in cool colors. I have a few favorite outfits and sometimes go a long time without changing, but some days I'll wear something random.

I usually wear seasonal outfits. Or whatever I find cute. I don't really have a routine of changing clothes in animal crossing every day, I just do it when I feel like it or I come across something I like.
