I would have been 12, got it cause my mom took me and my brother to blockbuster for Valentine's Day in 2009 and I rented city folk. Rented it every time I could until I got it for Christmas that year lmfao
I was 10. I got New Horizons a few weeks after it released because my friends and internet wouldn’t shut up about it
I used to call my friends for literal hours playing it
They all dropped the series unfortunately
Had to change my vote on a technicality! The year I was 9, one of my best friends came over for Christmas with his mom and older brother, and he brought a copy of Animal Crossing that we played on my GameCube. It's a lovely memory, but I don't remember knowing much about the game itself. I didn't actually acquire an AC game until I was 11 and bought Wild World for my DS. That was when I got totally hooked on the franchise.
I got New Leaf back in Christmas of 2016 when I was 8 and a half. I played it nonstop for four years, but I abandoned it for New Horizons. I feel kinda bad about it because I reset my town a lot, so I don't have any of my old towns :/
I think I was around 7-8, MAYBE 9 when I played City Folk. I didn't get to see much of it, though, as I only got to buying a house before having to turn off the Wii.
I started playing when I was six, and in an odd twist of events, my first game was Pocket Camp. I was always into my Playmobil models and creating my own little campsite was right up my street. So I encountered it around release and started playing it. That same Christmas, I got a 2DS (too young for the 3D so my parents wanted me to have the regular one haha) and with it, a copy of Wild World. It wouldn’t read on my console by some fluke so I ended up playing on my Gran’s DSi. I don’t recall being terribly enamoured with it, but I played it enough to get New Leaf for my seventh birthday, and that was really when my obsession started. Then I played New Horizons when that came out, alongside the happy home spin offs.
I think about 10-11? I dabbled in ACWW prior to that but only for a short period so I wouldn't call that actually playing.
I remember playing ACCF when I was about 10 or so, I don't even remember how I got the game but there it was! It really made me fall in love with the franchise.
I think I was 5? I remember watching my bio dad play New Leaf on his 3ds and becoming obsessed with it, to the point where I begged to add a character of my own to his town.
The GameCube release happened here when I was 10, and I believe the game was still fairly new when I first rented it, so I was probably 10, maybe 11. I actually rented it several times before being gifted a copy, seeing as past a certain point it's pretty nonsensical to continually rent an endless game like that (whereas I could see the point of renting a game a couple times to beat it if you didn't think you cared enough to buy a copy but could fit a full run into a rental period).
I got Animal Crossing Wild World for Christmas in 2006, just over a week after I got the DS for my 9th birthday.
I didn't like it at first because it was so different from what I was used to (platformers), but by about March or April 2007, I gave it another chance, and it grew on me and became my favorite game on the DS.
New Leaf. So around the time I went to university or maybe even before then. Not sure about the exact age. All I know is that there was a promotion for a 3DS that came with New Leaf installed.
