i find it funny how animal crossing makes you celebrate lunar new year, festivale, halloween etc even tho you arent someone who may celebrate it

anyone else just skip past the holidays if they are of a different faith/culture? they wished me a happy lunar new year but i was like šŸ§ā€

i'd love to hear your takes on this! i wish they added more holidays tbh

(also this isnt made to insult those who do, i just find it funny how AC does things)

I just ignore it.

Never heard of it, and don't care. :)

I don't even celebrate holidays that are part of my culture.

really? interesting! its so hard to ignore some of the festivals in the game like bunny day and festivale

Nope, I still wish people happy Christmas, and New Years wether they celebrate it or not, Iā€™m not American, but it doesnā€™t bother me if people wish me happy Halloween, or any other holidays for that matter, and Iā€™ll gladly celebrate them in AC.
Iā€™m not Christian either, but I love Christmas.

I consider it a bonus. Just because I don't celebrate it doesn't mean I don't want the items that come with the holiday! Even if I don't celebrate the Lunar New Year, the items are still nice and I'm glad that they're being inclusive. One of the issues I had with NL was how certain items were exclusive to certain parts of the world and you would have to find someone from the region (or someone who hacked the items in to trade with), so I'm really happy that they fixed that.

Keep in mind this is a video game; the reason they change the names of religious holidays like Easter to Bunny Day and Christmas to Toy Day is to make it clear that they're simply trying to give the players a holiday without pushing an actual religious influence.

this is an interesting take! i like the bonus items too for my villagers (eg pekoe being chinese based means chinese new year items for her)

this is another interesting take, i guess its all up to your beliefs then (but i wish other holidays were in the game)

Not really.

Just turn the game off or don't play. :)

I mean, I celebrate most of the holidays in game (I'm American) but when one comes up that I don't celebrate normally, I just celebrate it in-game! The more holidays the better. Also I agree that the items are good bonuses.

I used to be of a religion that celebrated absolutely no holidays. (well... one but we didn't really do anything for it)

That being said, I appreciate seeing all the holidays in the game. I think it's fun. I wish they'd add more. There are so many cool holidays that they haven't added yet.

Not if you TT. :)
Haha no but Bunny Day was really hard to avoid.
and zipper always staring at you plz sir leave me alone

this is the biggest issue i have, there are many more they could add

I donā€™t celebrate Carnaval, which is what Festivale is based on, but Iā€™m still looking forward to Festivale. Sure, I may not celebrate it in real life, but itā€™s a fun event for the game.

I think it's fun! I love pretty much all festivals/holidays of different cultures so I always think it's fun to learn about them :)
This, I donā€™t understand the idea of being against celebrating a holiday just because itā€™s not part of your own personal beliefs, or culture. If I were invited to partake in any holidays Iā€™d gladly accept the opportunity, itā€™ll probably be fun, at worst youā€™ll just learn something new.

It's not being 'against', it's just a choice.

I don't like holidays at all.

I have my reasons and I'm entitled to them.
