I am definitely buying it on its own! I haven't been playing online much, and I don't see myself using other features of the NSO expansion.

absolutely buying it on my own. for starters, I’m on a friend’s family plan so the NSO bundle is completely pointless to me... but also I’d much rather have it than rent it out.

I’m buying the expanded NSO subscription for at least a year so my friends (who are on my family plan) and I can get the DLC and the N64 games too.

I’m just buying the dlc outright. I already have a good collection of physical n64 games and I have no interest in sega games.

I won't use any other parts of the expanded online subscription, and I want to keep the DLC even if I may someday decide to stop having an online subscription. I'm just generally not a fan of subscription services where I "rent" a game or DLC. Maybe if it's something I was on the fence about and wanted to try before committing to owning it? But since I know I will enjoy this I will definitely just purchase it and pay for online separately.

i'm buying the DLC, of course!! renting it just because it's part of the deal for a membership upgrade i may or may not plan to get is the silliest thing.

Gonna buy the DLC. The online expansion doesn't offer anything I care for, it's too expensive for what it is, and once you stop paying you'll lose access to the DLC. I don't see the point...

i’ll be paying to own the dlc permanently, and leaving my nintendo switch online membership payment separate. :)

Here's the specific options:

The first choice is to Pay 25 dollars, and keep it indefinitely on your switch. And if you wish for online play, you just pay for it separately. I would think standard online should also still work here if you chose this path.

The second choice is to get an expanded switch online subscription. Along with the DLC, you'll also access Sega/N64 games as they become available - But you don't own the DLC, and must renew the subscription each year to access it.

The price for the expanded online part varies: It's 50 dollars for an individual subscription, and 80 dollars for a family plan. The family plan supports up to 8 switches, and could be manually rationed up between players to pay for it. Of course, setting something like that up might be a bit complicated.

I personally would rather just keep it simple just buy the DLC and keep indefinitely, and only pay for online when I really want it. But I'm quite curious about other people's opinions as well.

I will be buying the update separately, i think 25 bucks is very reasonable price since it is basically a new game and i'm not a fan of renting, especially not since the expansion is very expensive

I have no reason to expand my subscription. I did look at what was offered and I'll stay with what I have.

That said, I'll purchase HHP outright.

I might go the online membership route because I have family members who would be interested in upgrading to the plan so it would work out cheaper for me.

I'll be buying the DLC outright and will be paying for NSO separately.
As some people have said, I'd rather own it than rent it. I'm not going to lie, being able to play N64 games on the Switch would be awesome because I didn't get to play them when I was a kid. However, I'm not willing to pay a lot more money for it. Plus, I'm on a NSO family plan with friends who rarely play on their Switch as is lol.

NSO+ is unnecessarily expensive just for N64 and Genesis. Buying the DLC on its own means I'll own it for years to come until the Eshop shuts down and my Switch stops working. There's no justification for paying more than 2x the cost I am paying now.

im definitely not getting the subscription- i have little to no interest in those retro games, and id rather own this dlc even after the servers go down. not to mention its like over double the price,, are nintendo mad?

I'll be buying the DLC on my main account but also upgrading my family plan for NSO. I have three accounts plus one each for my two brothers, five accounts total, and I want them to have the chance to play the N64 and Sega games if they want so I'll be upgrading (I want to play the N64 games, too!). The NSO expansion is expensive, though, I agree! More than I thought it would be. Wonder if they'll add other DLC for future games?

My situation is probably a bit more complicated than most, but I actually need to get the NSO expansion just to have access on all my accounts. I bought a Switch Lite earlier this year and started a second island on it. Then I loaned my Switch Lite to one brother and made that the primary for now so he could try some other games. I play AC: NH on my second and third accounts on my main Switch, so I won't have access to the HHP DLC on my main Switch right now. I'll have to get the NSO expansion to play it. I don't want to have to buy the DLC on my secondary account because I don't buy games on that account.

Also, my other brother has AC: NH, though he doesn't play much anymore, and this way he can play the HHP expansion if he wants. For an extra $45 or so, we can both play it. And if my other brother ever decides to get AC: NH, which he might, he'll be able to play it, too.

I’ll be buying the DLC separately, as I want to own it. I don’t really have a problem paying for it because of this—it seems more a hassle to try and pay with it along with the subscription.

Also, I have a question:
If we paid for the DLC, does that allow all the accounts we created on that one Switch to access it? For instance, I have 5 characters, so I’d like all of them to have access to the DLC (mainly for the perks of interior building with dividers, pillars, and counters). Right now, only my main character can use the online subscription because I’m apart of my brother’s family plan. (UPDATE: Yes, all characters can use the HHP as long as you buy it separately instead of buying it as a part of the yearly subscription.)

I'm getting the stanadalone DLC, full stop. The Premium+ or whatever Nintendo's got cooking looks cool, but there are other "less expensive" ways to play literally ever other game they're offering if I so truly wanted to. I adore the N64 catalog, but it feels a little skinny ATM to justify the added price. Besides, I wanna keep HHP forever.

I’ll definitely pay for the DLC separately if I do end up purchasing as I would much rather keep it forever than rent it for x amount of time. I do also hope they allow all profiles on the switch to access the DLC, would be a shame if they didn’t.

I’m buying it outright. It’s the option that makes the most sense for me considering I only own one device. Plus I don’t like the idea of “renting” the game via the new membership deal which doesn’t benefit me in the long run.
