Little Lullabies

I submitted mine! I enjoyed reading your public haikus. So much talent, haha!

@Kaiaa
Just asking (the staff) does my entry show up? None of my entries for any of the competitions have been seen by staff. Am I doing it right? Thanks!
Don’t worry your entries show up! We accept them in rounds and not always within the few days they were posted. They will be accepted before tickets are distributed as long as they were submitted correctly and in some cases, only with a correct answer.

Just entered,,, and as someone who loves haikus Im not saying this was one of my fave little contests but,,,, it was one of my fave little contests q-q goodluck to all < 33 Mine is far from the best I've seen but heres it is:

if you want to sleep,
pray you remember those dreams
as reality

,,,,,, man i hope i did it right

Just submitted my entry. Hope it turned out fine.
Can't recall if I've ever written a haiku as an assignment before (either during my time at school or college), but it did feel a bit oddly familiar.

Eyes shut wide awake
Fleeting thought evaporates
Cannot move. Please help

is about some less pleasant things that have happened to me when sleeping:
trying to fall asleep but failing (l.1), one moment where i thought about something and couldn't remember was it was literally five seconds later (l.2), and what in retrospect must've been a moment of sleep paralysis (l.3)

here’s my haiku, i submitted privately a while ago but i’ll share here as well. i tried to capture the vibe of being outdoors on a beautiful summer night, when the atmosphere is dreamy and perfect; the sky is twinkling, and you can’t help but grow drowsy listening to the sounds of nature... you just might fall asleep right there under the stars. 💖

“lost dreamer”

cicadas lull me
beneath a quilt made of stars
cloaked in warm moonlight.

My entry:
Scary stories shared.
I don’t think I can sleep now.
What’s that in the dark?

Inspired by sleepovers where you and your friends would try to freak each other out, and a dark shadow in the corner of the room is inevitably mistaken for a demon/ghost/monster 😱

I think I'm finally happy with the haiku I wrote for this, so please read my reject poems:
The titles are in italics.

Not-a-haiku short poem
Falling in love is God’s cruel scheme
How can I ensure I will not lose
That what gives me sweetest dreams?

Another not-a-haiku short poem
A dream I had
To make things right
Shriveled, wasted in the night

girlfriend's nightmare (not a haiku, but i thought someone might get a kick out of it)
While folding socks, you come to say
"I am leaving you today."
Gasping for breath, I’m left to scream
Thank god! It was just a dream

@Kaiaa Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are we allowed to make the haiku dream address related or does it have to be relating to real life sleepovers and dreams?

Just submitted mine. I haven't written any for real poetry since high school😳 Hopefully I still got somethin. Also I didn't write haikus but STILL.

Here it is if y'alls wanna read it

A place new or old
Temporarily I stay
Fleeting memories

It's pretty self explanatory, dreams can make places we've been to, entirely new places or combine the two. Dreams only last for a couple of seconds (our brains play them out to be longer) and sometimes the memories of those dreams escape us. I know that not what exactly fleeting means but it still works.

Just submitted mine! I thought of it early on, but have been holding off to see if I could come up with something better. I ultimately decided that I wanted to keep it :) Everyone has some really nice haikus and I'm excited to see the top picks!

I never did share mine, so I guess I will now even though I feel like it's too simple or just sucks lol...I haven't written one of these since high school (like some of the rest of you here, I see). I try to go with the first thing that comes into my head. It's a bit more personal than it appears at face value, as I have a lot of fairly severe chronic physical pain all the time and mental issues...

dreaming seems more real
than reality sometimes
i wish i could stay

Also, I just want to say everyone else's are so good! Honestly! Some are very touching and tear jerking too... <3

Thump:

Ears, are you lying?
The sound of my beating heart
Or is that footsteps?
Not too symbolic, but I tried to write one about hearing scary noises in the middle of the night :)

Originally, I wrote one about Wendell being replaced in new horizons dreams, but I wasn't sure if it was allowed, but I thought I might as well share it anyways:
A sodden gravestone
Artists memory in stone
Soulless eyes of screen
