Max Villager Cap announced by IGN

that’s unfortunate but i’m not that bothered by it lol

it's expected. would've been fine with 12 too, but anything more than that i think would've overwhelmed me.

GameCube had 15 max and I think it’s very sad we haven’t been able to reach that height since then :( oh well

I’m disappointed by this news. I was hoping for 12, and I’d really like to return to the GCN days of 15 villagers. As someone who doesn’t plan on having many human players on my island, I worry it may feel a little emptier than I would like. And I also have too many Amiibo villagers that I already want (several of whom have the same personality type), and I was hoping to use a bunch of those and still have space for a bunch of random villagers.

Unfortunately, judging by the last few games, it seems like Nintendo has settled on around ten or so villagers as an ideal number. It’s too bad, as I really liked having more than that on GCN.

I don’t trust IGN as they have had things wrong in the past (and being partly biased as the games having too much water, how is that an actual complaint?) so I rather another source confirm this villager cap. But if it’s ten, I’ll just have to live with it... )btw pg had 218 at the time)

They labeled persimmons as a native fruit? I highly doubt it, they aren’t the native 5 fruits we get (Apple,Cherry, Orange Pear and Peach) persimmons, as far as I know, could only be gotten from a random villager letter or from the final upgrade of the nook store in NL, fruits like the bananas, coconuts and durians are not possible and can only be gotten by traveling to an island, unless they brought the coconut washing up on shores again from previous games and that this has been changed

a bit sad about this because some people were really hoping for more, but im personally alright with this number. i just don't know how i'm gonna make my lil neighborhoods now because i was planning on making 4 groups of 3, i guess i'll just have to make stitches my neighbor 3 groups of 3 now.

ign also listed persimmon as a native fruit  so maybe they've just lost their minds

I'm fully on board with the idea that IGN could've got it wrong, but all I've seen in gameplay videos is a maximum of 10 villagers. There was on clip where there was 10 villagers + a plot in construction though, though that could've been for something else?.. I dunno. I wouldn't be surprised if 10 isn't the limit, or they raise it in an update or somethin'. Too many people just want the option to have more than 10 to have it stay there.

I find this extremely diappointing. We have a much bigger map this time, so it doesn't make sense not to increase villaer capacity!
Maybe it's just me, but if they reason they have done this is because 8 players can now live on one island, I will be even more annoyed. I am sure there are going to be more people playing with less than 4 players (a hell of a lot with only 1) on their island, so to 'punish' us by not increasing capacity, just for the rare few families who have more than 4 players, doesn't seem fair.
And even then they could have implemented something like 'up to 4 players and you can have 15 villagers, more than 4 you can have 12/10 villagers', because my island is going to feel hella empty.
OR they could let us buy more villager plots with Nook Miles, therefore anyone who felt that 10 was enough, didn't have to have more, but those of us who want to experience living with lots of villagers can do so!

This is the first time I've been genuinly disappointed with something in this game.

it's what i expected but still a little disappointing. i guess i will just have to have a high turnover in my town if i want to have a lot of different villagers.

Disappointing, but still fine with me. I kind of expected it. :(

I was hoping that since we're on an island, we can get special native fruit like bananas or mangos. It might just be the native fruit that spawns on your beach though, not the rest of the island.

That's what I expected tbh, even though I was hoping for something like 12, considering we have a LOT of villagers to choose from.

It’s also because the map is bigger than PG as well, so it’d be odd not to increase the cap just a little, and we have little to no limit of how close we can place buildings and how close to the water they get (which is pretty close in my option)

I’ll have no complaints if it’s 10, but it would be a downgrade in my opinion (and it’s 6.2 GBs it’s much bigger then all previous games)

10 is more than enough houses to place/decorate lmao I don’t need more than that

I know its disappointing, you can be disappointed but after making a town on the map town editor, it's really hard to even fit 10 houses when you now have to place all shops/pwps inside your island. It would have worked well on New Leaf because shops had their designated area. This might be a good thing in disguise. But the it do kinda suck tho.

Well, I can live with this, although I kinda hoped for being able to have at least 12 to be honest.

I was really hoping for 12 at least, so I'm pretty bummed. Ah, well..
