have you been unfortunate enough to watch a really scary movie (horror or not) at such a young age by mistake?

when I was a kid, my dad was a fan of horror and thriller movies and watch them at home often. of course we (me and my sisters) weren't allowed to watch them because we were still in kindergarten. he of course would hide the vhs tapes, but he was forgetful and sometimes would forget the tape inside the tv. us, not knowing better would turn it on thinking it's a cartoon..and sometimes my big sister would take the movie and turn it on on the loudest volume just to see our reaction, it's funny because she was scared as well. we'd start running in circles around the house in terror and screaming "turn it off!" until one of us is brave enough to get near the tv or grab the remote control and turn off the movie.
we ended up having the unfortunate of seeing parts of hellraiser which I thought was a movie about crazy twisted people in an asylum, still to this day I don't know what the movie is about, and pinhead still scares the hell out of me. others were Jaws, poltergeist, godzilla and a movie about a huge crocodile that got flushed as a baby, grew up in a sewer then somehow managed to get out to the streets to terrorize people (don't know the name). there were others I can't remember..
funnily though, I grew up to love watching horror movies, old and new, but I'm still scared to even search hellraiser because of the horrible memories.

This probably doesn't count as a movie but I was terrified of that walrus thing in one of the Pingu shorts, when I saw it I'd start crying and screaming and I'd run to my grandma.

Oh yeah and I think I was a bit scared of that one Goosbumps movie with the werewolves but I'd constantly watch it anyways 'cause I'd think "Well I won't be scared this time".

Nothing that left a scar on me though, granted that walrus thing is still super creepy.

When I was even younger - Lion King. The wildebeest scene was too scary.

I loved the lion king with all my heart as a child, definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'd watch it over and over and never get tired of it

I just searched that and MAN is that walrus nasty with the human teeth and the weird expressions as if its possessed. what were they thinking?

The movie Zathura always scared me. I remember watching it in our basement and freaked out and ran upstairs when that big robot thing came in. I refused to watch that movie for the longest time

As a child, Child's Play scared the crap out of me. I accidentally watched it on tv after flipping through the channels during the day. I remember not being able to sleep for days after I watched it, lol. I eventually got over my fear of horror movies by not taking it too seriously. Scary Movie series helped a lot with that.

I enjoy horror films nowadays. A good scare isn't bad every now and then. :)

E.T used to scare me because he's such a creepy little *******. I disliked him from the first time you see him, but that part where he screams the scream of 10,000 eternally suffering souls at the little girl is where I was like "nope" and stopped watching.
I still hate E.T.

And the ending of Who Framed Roger Rabbit when Judge Doom unveils himself as a toon. That scared the crap out of me as a kid. I still kinda dislike that part.

Or 'that bit' in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If I need to describe 'that bit' in more detail, you've clearly not seen the movie.

Meanwhile, I would happily sit and watch pretty much any actual horror movie without fuss.

I never finished watching Rocky V because the ending scared me too much ^^;

What's scary about the ending of Rocky V?

I'm genuinely curious.

as well as the whole "resignation to your fate" thing going on in THIS scene...

That one mummy movie that I can't remember the name of and also that other movie with the psycho clown. I also don't kn0w the name of that one.

E.T. scared me as well as Snow White because the witch was so creepy lol

I saw Alien when I was like 7 because my dad was watching it while I was supposed to be asleep. Now, it's my favorite movie!

Finally, someone I can relate to!

Movies haven't really scared me as a kid, but Video Games did. In Animal Crossing GC, if you restart in a town you weren't in. Your character will get the gyroid face, it scared me so! It was a reminder to save at your gyroid next time, but I took it for a nightmare. (No, seriously. I had nightmares about it)

In grade 5, my friend showed me the movie Signs and said it was the scariest thing ever. All I remember were crop circles and then the part that freaked me out the most was this killer going under the door with a knife or something similar. It scarred me to go near door cracks for the longest time. Now it has been so long I forget exactly what happened in that scene. xP

Chucky used to freak me out too cause I thought its design was terrifying.

jurassic park, and this old horror doll movie that's chinese, and the movie with the green masked man.

My older sister made me watch Happy Tree Friends when I was like 6 and I had nightmares about it for an entire year. It's not even real horror or anything...

After that I always ran away when an age warning popped up on the TV, I've only recently started watching horror movies but I'm not into them regardless.
