• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

My overall thoughts on the forum as a seller.

Is your character male or female. Or Neither

I would like to start this of by saying I own a acnh store. I am very proud of it and it has grown very big.
The forums have been a great place for me to tell people what I have for sale and chose a price ext.
It can easily become overwhelming though but you tend to get used to it.

With all that in mind I have created a small experiment.
This is my results.

Due to the review option I have had no scam attempts
The majority of people I have interacted with have had a female character, well it's more then majority I have only seen 6 male characters ever!
I personally don't think it matters I just find it interesting.
I have had many toxic experiences with other websites like Reddit and discord servers.
But this has been smooth and I have even made friends.
I adore this website and am so greatful for it.

I am also going to create a poll on this post to reinforce my thoughts. Have a good day/night everyone!

I'm curious to see if males irl create female AC characters and vice versa. Or if people create their own persona or whatever.

I'm a female and I create an AC character that's a girl. However, I like to dress her up in clothes I wouldn't really wear irl or are usually too pricy so it gives me a chance to kinda "experience" those outfits when I "can't" irl. I find that fun.

I agree I a man a male irl but I own some female clothes just because I enjoy dressing up a female character,
Scrap that I own to many clothes lol

In New Leaf I did because I had low self confidence and didn't really want to make my character resemble myself. In New Horizons however I've modeled my character after me since I've come a long way since then and feel a little better about myself :)

Hey that's great, I had the same experience so I am glad we have been able to grow from it

Tell me about it! I own lots and lots of clothes! They're all so great in this game!

i’m a guy and i collect the “feminine” clothes for my villagers and other people...and then never end up using OR trading them. i *like* them; it’s kind of a shame that i have no use for them. if anyone wants to buy clothes from me, HMU!

my sisters don’t wear the “overly girly” clothes, but one of them likes the “feminine” athletic stuff.

overall, i like this site way better for trades than reddit (minus the occasional lack of traffic on my threads), BUT i’ve only ever made ac friends that i actually regularly talk to on reddit (met one on a pokémon forum, and now we talk all the time). there’s some great people there, but some of them are, uh...not so great. it’s a totally different atmosphere, though.

Some male youtubers have female characters (PBG)
Usually in any RPG my main is a female, my side/alt/mule account is male (and always the same name, too)

Anyways, I am a girl and play a girl.
My boyfriend is a guy and plays a guy.
My boyfriend's friend who is a guy, also plays a guy.
One of my best friends who is a guy, plays as a guy.
Though, the guys are definitely not as... into the animal crossing "community."
They mostly stick their own islands or visit just their real friends.
Only one who sometimes branches from that is my best friend since he is a long time reddit user so ONCE he opened his island for people to come to Ables to buy the crown.

Mine switches depending on what i’m leaning towards irl that day, most of the time you wouldn’t be able to tell their gender. I named them Starbit so there were no assumptions, and so that I can make them look how I feel comfortably without a “name barrier” c:

is there any actual physical difference between male/female characters? i picked the guy as my style but i use eyelash eyes and generally wear more "feminine" outfits so do we actually know if we're encountering more of either one or not 🤔

Silly, it’s not male or female, it’s either short hair or ponytail! ^ェ^

It’s funny that you mention seeing so few male-presenting characters though—for me I’d say it’s been a roughly 1/3 (m) to 2/3 (f) split.

I think the running animation is slightly different?? I know it was in NL. Besides, I like how easy it is to switch styles in this game (and literally everything else about your character) at any point

i set up my character to look like me at the beginning of the game, but that was mostly because i didn't love the beginning hair options lol. i tend to make my character look like how i wish i looked like / what i'm "attracted" to i guess in terms of the style. it's like i care more about my appearance in ac than i do irl lol

also my character looks a bit like a tiktok lesbian which says a lot about me lol

A majority of the characters are female, imo. In the same ratio that Fey pointed out. I wanna' agree on that.

And yeah, these forums are dope. All the people here have great integrity and interests.

I definitely prefer to trade here. I find the TBT community to generally be very friendly, which makes trading so much more accessible. The feedback system is excellent too.

My islander is female because I usually like to play as myself. I do dabble in fashion that I wouldn’t normally wear though, including incredibly femme outfits and intricate outfits (like the Victorian dresses)!

yes.

except i mean i don't really have tiktok, but girls are so pretty lmao-

I'm male, so is my character.

The only use I have for female clothes and accessories is to gift other players and villagers.

I'm not exactly a very active trader (at least not like people I've seen around here who make in one week that amount of trades I do in a month), but I like the social aspect of the game. The idea of a community game is one of the things that makes me like AC. I've only traded on Gamefaqs (back when I was playing NL everyday) and on TBT, and never had problems.
