NaNoWriMo 2016

So I didn't sign up or start the challenge but I did write about 1k words which is the most I have written in months. So I'm happy. C:

I've always wanted to participate, but after midterms until the end of the semester is the busiest time of year for me & I've never had the time to participate. Maybe one day, though.

They do a have a camp that goes on during the summer months, it's less stress too because you get to set your own goal for yourself! I've participated in camp twice now and this is my first "real" NaNo, but the camp is really fun too!

I've had zero time to plan this week. Most nights have been chemistry revision from the moment I get home until bed as it's my worst subject. The few nights I didn't revise I was helping out with set-up for The Woods Expedition.

I've three exams next month (one being chemistry) as well as graduation from my previous uni, a tattoo booked, and several other appointments littering my days off. Plus I think rep training on another and a likely minimum of three meetings between rep duties and the SA. And highly likely 1-2 fundraisers. Why do I do this to myself.

That sounds like a pretty full month. X.X I can barely do NaNo with the few things I do and I already am overwhelmed. XD You're a champ Tina and I believe in you!

I'll have to put everything down on a calendar and see just how bad it really is haha. Mentally it's terrifying.

edit: just remembered I've two lab reports for microbiology due on the 4th as well!

8,743 words first day, phew! Aiming for the minimum 1,667 today though.

And I'm just going to pretend for a couple nights that I don't have a lab report due Friday and another three due Monday (waaaah).

I am like so behind on this, i swear i might a swell just quit. Here's what i got:

The Lost Diaries

The Lost Diary was found on November 19, 2008 in the deep woods after 5 days since the Mark's mysteriously disappeared. Authorities could not explain the disappearance of the entire family but all they found was Shelby's personal diary, which they thought would give a clue on the disappearance. It didn't.

After years of investigating, the authority decided to end the case, without releasing the diary. How would I know about this? I was Shelby's best friend during high school, and she told me about the diary. Once I heard about it on the news that all they found was her diary, I just had to see it.

I finally got to the police and they handed over the diary. In hopes of finding a clue of her disappearance, I decided to read her diary. Sadly, I couldn't find anything but there was some strange events leading up to her disappearance. Instead of explaining it to you, word-by-word, I decided to publish the diary, so you can see for yourself that the he strange behavior she had exhibit before her disappearance, in hopes that someone out there could explain what happened to her. Enjoy!

Dear Diary,

Who in their right mind would give an emo teenage girl a diary for HER BIRTHDAY? For goodness sake, all I wanted was a tattoo, is too much to ask?

Well, today is my birthday, and I hate celebrating it. It's just another reminder that you're closer to death. Plus, it's not moment when your entire family comes together and talk to you and ask "why are you still going through that emo phase".

My therapist, Ms. Wanda said that I should writing my feelings on a piece of paper and wala, I have this diary like they're going to get anything new from me. Trust me, that's not the worst part.

I also received a card from them, and it inside it has this little message saying, "I hope you have a wonderful birthday, and many more when we move to Orlando".

ORLANDO, and they thought this was the best way to tell me this?like come on? So, what did I do about it? I smile, smile, smile because if I say something, it'll start an argument, and people will think I'm "Ungrateful" for the card. My little bro, Ryan, will probably tear it up anyways so...yeah.

The best part that came out of this who thing was the clothes from my grandmother, the only person who understands me. She got me 3 new chokers which was really nice of her.

Anyways, this day has been stressful and I might as well head of to bed so hopefully I can sleep this day away.

Dear umm diary,

I knew I should've not said nothing. I should've just continue to smile so they wouldn't be yelling out me. I went to confront my parents about the

Like i said, i don't have time to keep up.

Keep on with it! There's always ways to make time to write if you are really motivated enough to do it. It's a matter of making every minute of your day really count.

I'm at 11,713 words so far. Still got at least another 400 to write today to reach the minimum daily goal. Took a break from it to write up the first of four lab reports I have to do by Monday.

Thanks, but i should focus on some important stuff and do this next month/year.

Totally missed out on the last few days due to Halloween stuff and being super duper sick, but totally going to make up for it over the next few nights to at least get me to par.

4000 words deep but that's all I can do in a day, totally burned out now, I'll reach par over the next few days though I PROMISE!

Finishing off week #1 with 22k. Quite happy with my novel so far, other than the realisation that it would work better in first person than third. Oops.

So I was totally planning to do this this year though to be honest I haven't started on my word count only novel planning. :/

My question for you guys that have already started or completed the challenge before is when do you normally finish planning or figuring out plot holes before you being writing? Or like how much do you normally get planned before you just start writing? xD

I've done this once, and met the goal with around four hours left, so it's challenging if you're not inspired.

Usually what I did was start with a topic to focus on, type about it until I'm stuck, and then wake up with some new ideas that still tie to the plot.

Yeah I loved NaNoWriMo (I participated 2014) but I'm not very consistent when it comes to writing daily xD

That totally makes sense xD
Thank you for your input, it's given me some ideas c:

I usually make a super rough "story line" like the ones you do in school with the big "peak" for the climax, so I start with that with just a handful of plot points on it and really figure out the rest as I go, make some character sheets of main characters, but even with that it transforms into something different most of the time, on the NaNo site though there are tons of people ready to help out in the forums with the plot holes and stuff, so it's really awesome to get into the forum as well to help you along.

With that I totally couldn't summon the effort to write these past few days but since I'm back at work I am going to work my little booty off to get back to par, AGAIN. *le sigh*

I vary. Sometimes I go in with in-depth chapter-by-chapter outlines (in 2010 my outline alone was 36k lol) and other times I go in with very little to no planning. This year I went in with a handful of scenes planned out and it's halfway through the month and my plot isn't totally together yet but it's getting there.

On that note, I hit 40k tonight! :D
