New foods/drinks you tried today/recently!

Last night I tried Frederick’s citrus flavored pop; I didn’t really care much for it. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t get it again. I also have it in blood orange flavor. I haven’t tried it yet but I expect it will disappoint just as much.

Today I tried Starbuck’s Summer Berry Refresher. It was quite nice because I love sour-sweet drinks. The popping boba gave it a nice texture. The drink reminded me a lot of the Sour Patch Blue Raspberry drink that they sold at Auntie Anne’s about 5 years ago.

I tried the Summer Skies Drink from Starbucks! It's the one with coconut milk. It was great, although I prefer my usual. I was hoping just to try it, and maybe I'll get it sometimes. It wasn't a bad drink at all.

Accidentally discovered plantain chips after mistaking them for dried banana chips (the cons of doing the grocery shop on your mobile phone!). And oh my god they are amazing. Time to buy in bulk for healthy work snacks. 😂

I had mochi doughnuts and boba tea for the first time ever. The boba tea surprised me with how good it is, but I don't really like the tapioca pearls. I got the matcha flavor which I knew I would like. I picked up three of the mochi doughnuts to bring home and ate the churro flavored one tonight. I've got strawberry and matcha flavors remaining.

I discovered that Starbucks has orange cream flavored cake pops. I'm not sure if it's limited time but it was my first time seeing it on the menu, so I had to pick one up. Cake pops aren't really my thing, but I wanted to try one of my favorite flavors in cake pop form. It was decent, but I'm not sure I'd get it again.

I got into gyro bowls at Greek restaurants recently and love them recently. At the place I frequent I get marinated chicken with french fries below it topped with feta cheese and tzatziki sauce. I wish I could go there more since I love it so much, but it’s pretty spendy.

Recently in chemistry class, we made this thing called "calcy algy". It's an edible, stringy, worm-like gel that is formed by combining sodium alginate, which comes from seaweed, and calcium chloride, a salt. I heard this is similar to the process they use to make popping boba (which I've been wanting to try out for a while!) The calcy algy tasted artificially sweet, but not as much as, say, a sugary donut. It's not something I'd eat again, but it would be fun to give the whole process another shot!

Here's a photo of me holding the calcy algy BTW:

OH! The new Coconut Dr. Pepper. I have to say it's one of my new favorite flavors c:

It's a subtle coconut flavor at the beginning of the sip, then the rest of the sip tastes like Dr. Pepper. At least, that's what it tastes like to me! I'm not a coconut fan, so it was incredibly surprising to me that I ended up loving it!

We found these potato chips that said classic night market flavor on the bag.
We bought them to try than and they are really good. In small print at the bottom of the bag it says in English, Taiwanese Teppanyaki Flavor.
I don't know what Teppanyaki is, but the chips have a lot of flavors going on. Like shrimpy, tangy, sweet, bitter, and onion. And the chips aren't greasy, and the texture seems slightly more airy and crispy than most potatoes chips here in USA.

I passed through New York on my move to New England, so when we stopped at a gas station I checked for Hal's New York sparkling water. They have a Fruit Punch flavor I really wanted to try, but unfortunately the store didn't have that, so I just went with Black Cherry. It was fine. I like 365 (Whole Foods) Black Cherry the most, though.

I tried dragonfruit for the first time today!! I've been curious about it and wanting to try it for years, but I haven't had a chance to until today. It was pretty good! The texture was what I expected, though it wasn't as flavourful as I thought it would be. Kinda tasted similar to a kiwi to me, but more subtle. Still refreshing and yum, though! I have some leftover that I'm looking forward to eating later.
