Nintendo Switch 2 Direct kicks off at 9:00 (EST), 6:00 (PT), 15:00 (CET) on April 2, 2025

The Mario Kart game alone will make me buy the console as soon as it comes out! Looks awesome!

The rest of the Direct was okay, but I'm just surprised they didn't give a price?

My thoughts exactly! I love Mario Kart and wanted to get this game regardless but it totally blew my expectations away during the direct.

Same, but I think they want to discourage people from turning the direct off. They did say that the page for the system should go live later today. I'd imagine they meant preorders, so we should have a price then. I don't expect it to be cheap.

Launching with a new Mario Kart probably makes this the most exciting launch for a Nintendo system for me in ages. Like it's been going back to the GCN to have a launch with a good new multiplayer game for me (and even in that case, Melee was a launch window title, not even a true launch title lol).

With that said, I don't even see me getting a Switch 2 for a long time. Money is an issue.

Also: Animal Crossing. I kinda hoped we'd get a teaser for a new one here, but we didn't. It's a BIG Nintendo franchise now, so I know it'll be coming. What is most interesting about this Direct, though, is that Animal Crossing New Horizons is not getting a Switch 2 edition. I kinda expected that when I saw that Switch 2 Editions were a thing, but nothing. Would have been the best opportunity to be able to give some more features and content to NH, but since that's not happening I'm hoping that they're developing a new one.

I wonder if they're going to make a Switch Lite 2, I don't want to update to the regular one. I want my tiny device.
I think the lite version of this will sell much better than the standard due to the economy. I know if I was to buy, I'd go lite, but I also don't care about docking and love handhelds too.

Of course the New Mario Kart game, now known as Mario Kart World would be the only thing I'm mega interested in. Everything else doesn't do it for me.

Except for the new Donkey Kong game, and remember how we thought his new design was temporary? Well it seems like his new design is gonna be used for future games he appears in from here on out.

The revival of Kirby Air Ride was an interesting pick, I can't believe they teased the first seconds as either a new Kirby game or Smash.

Has anyone seen Villager in the new Mario Kart game? If not, then I'm sure he'll show up in the upcoming Mario Kart World Direct.

Can't believe the video froze for a bit and the audio was out of sync, I dunno if there was a different video I could've watched, UK for example, I just clicked on the one that poped up first.

The mario kart looks really good, really taking moo out of the moo moo farms and riding along with us. nice to see customization to mario, luigi and Peach so far~

When I saw animal crossing gameplay - meaning we can play that on switch 2 - my soul almost jumped, I thought we were gonna see something new. Not to say I am wanting the game to come soon, take their time to make a great animal crossing.

As cool as the voice and camera stuff is while playing, I doubt I would even use it as much? The camera looks kinda fuzzy when I was watching their screens below when they played mario kart.

It be interesting how much the 'update' is for some of the switch games, so you can experience it a lil better on switch 2

I kinda wished they did show a price. I know I won't be getting one anytime soon; I wouldn't anyways the basic model I don't like.

I dont know if many of the games really spoke to me; some looked good, but nothing that instantly comes to mind.

Good direct overall! Games were really nice (Mario Kart esp looks fun and promising!!) c: Though I will have to sit out the release date for now as I don’t feel compelled to buy it right away. I’m very much looking forward to Tomodachi Life, Tamagotchi Plaza, and Pokemon Z-A, all of which can still run on the original Switch so I don’t feel like I’m in a hurry. I think what would compel me to buy Switch 2 is if they release a new Pokemon/Animal Crossing/Splatoon title exclusively for Switch 2!

Overall I liked it! Cool to see the new features and all. It was pretty funny seeing the video be completely out of sync that one time and seeing chat freak out haha

Really liked seeing mario kart and kirby air riders!! Poyo!! The new donkey kong game looks cool too!
Probably won’t get the switch 2 right away though. wondering what the inevitable animal crossing game will be like on the new system!

The only thing I can find for a price on the switch 2 (not the mario bundle) is on business wire.
"With new ways to play and new ways to connect players, the Nintendo Switch 2 system arrives June 5 for a suggested retail price of $449.99 in the United States."
Yeah I’m definitely not getting a Switch 2 on launch day. I figured it would be more than $300. I figure if I try to save about $20 each week I should be able to get one in six months and perhaps enough to buy an exclusive game as well

They may come out with a lite later. Or a sale if they aren't selling as much as they'd want. You never know. I wouldn't buy until they launch a 1st party game your are really really really wanting to play.

I never said that any Switch 2 game I’d buy with the console would be a launch day title. I just want to see what the line up of games is by the time I save up enough money and maybe take advantage of any price drop or bundle that comes out six months later. I waited until February 2018 before buying a Switch. I don’t want the Lite version either as I like playing games on my tv.

I'm kind of conflicted about it at the moment, especially when it comes to prices. I did like what I saw of the first party games that were shown, but I don't know if it's worth the price at the moment and I might just end up waiting a bit longer. I am definitely riding the high of the Deltarune trailer dropping during this direct though lmao. I do wish that Toby would release the next chapters on PC before June 5th, but oh well. It's something to look forward to.

Was that a cow I saw on a vehicle? What is the cow from?
Yea that was a cow. Now the cows can get revenge on everyone that ran them over in moo moo meadows.
