Today the Nintendo Switch Lite was officially announced. This should be perfect for most Animal Crossing fans who still have yet to get a Switch for New Horizons as Animal Crossing is typically better handheld for the majority of people to begin with and this new system is handheld only. It?s also approximately $100 cheaper depending on your country. For more information on the new device here?s a useful Link: https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.the...e-date-size-battery-life-motion-control-games

Also here?s what it looks like. 3 colours will be available at launch including Turquoise, Grey and Yellow launching on September 20th 2019. There will also be a Pok?mon Sword and Shield special edition that will launch on November 8th 2019.

Of course if this isn?t for you, you will still be able to buy the regular Switch model. The Lite (in my opinion) is to help the Switch be more appealing to those with less money or those that don?t plan on playing on a TV. I can also see it being a good option for kids as the built in controllers are less likely to get lost or broken and the price is closer to what the 3DS is/was.

I won't be getting one, but I see the appeal of them.

The probablem I forsee is that I lot of claims about joycons breaking. Personally, my joycons are the ONLY controllers I've HAD to replace in 28 years of gaming, so I do believe the claims and that the Joycons are terrible...If they're integrted into the controller though, you can't replace them at all.

It would have also been nice if they provided a way for it to connect to a dock even if it wasn't sold with the unit. I say this because it might give them an incentive to make sold seperately docks more easily availible for those who want one rather than having to pay a fortune for an offical one (seeing as third party ones risk bricking the system).

So the rumors of a Switch "Mini" (now known as "Lite") were true. Looks adorable from the design and
all, but I already own a Switch and I'm quite happy with the one I have. So no need for me to get the
Lite one.

Since there is a Pokemon edition on the way, I bet that they gonna make a Animal Crossing edition too
and maybe release it as a bundle with New Horizons.

To be honest, I expected more out of Switch Lite. The promotion video was basically about what features were removed and the price aspect. And I'm somewhat confused with the way they talked about handheld mode - I thought all Switch games support handheld mode? I hope that the addition of Lite will not change the availability of handheld mode for basic Switch because that's how I play all games. : c

Switch Lite seems like a nice option, but I'd encourage everyone to get the basic Switch if you still haven't gotten it. To me it feels like a perfect "level up" of 3DS design. Joycons are extremely fun to hold, dock-station is useful and it's nice to be able to switch from handheld mode to TV for some games. Like Super Mario Odyssey - it's fun regardless of how you play it but it was easier for me to complete some stages in TV mode, just because you can see more and it plays a bit more stable.
HD Rumble is very nice, too as it adds a level of immersion with some games. My memory is bad, but I'm pretty sure Zelda uses HD Rumble in a fun way.

I'm not sure if Switch Lite will be able to provide the same level of comfort, is all I'm saying. It feels like Lite is made mostly for Japanese people who play games outside very often (on public transport, at a friend's house etc.) and I can see that it will be very popular there - I'm personally a bit scared of taking Switch outside due to the size but I play on handheld mode at home all the time. It's just so much better to be able to lay down, walk around, put Switch on the table and detach joycons, connect it to TV... so many options! But taking it outside makes me a bit worried - Lite seems perfect for that.

So, it's up to you, guys. I'd really advise you to go to your local Gamestop or ask if any of your friends have Switch, and just try it for yourself. :3

I won't be getting one, but I see the appeal of them.

That's strange. : o I've talked to a lot of people on dedicated gaming forums and I've never heard of Joy-Cons breaking. And honestly, don't believe people who claim that Joy-Cons are bad - the only claims of Switch and/or JC being bad were from toxic people who would allow themselves to say something like "Switch is not a console!!! It can't run games in 4k and super-sampling. Anyone who owns Switch is..." kind of thing. It's the usual Internet wars where they just want to find some way of making other people feel bad. Or like some insecure people who would bash Switch for having the toy feeling. =/

As someone who purchased Switch a year ago and played quite a few games (I actually finished Zelda in handheld) - I have not had a single issue with joy-cons. They are sturdy, they hold the charge very nicely and I don't see them breaking unless you're being very rough.
If anything, PS4 is the one that has a poorly made controller. I've had PS4 Slim but the controller had some issue with the left stick... not sure why because I was careful. But I replaced it with a different color Dualshock 4 and it works just fine.

Yeah, I agree with Rusolando-Kun on this. I don’t have a Switch still, but personally I’m probably still going to buy a regular new Switch instead of getting this. If I’m getting rid of my Wii U and my handhelds when I get a Switch, I’ll definitely want to be able to have the home option and not just have it as a handheld system. I’m also cautious about buying one because I don’t know which features were removed with the price cut, and I also am skeptical that it will be able to play all the Switch games currently available as if it was a regular Switch. I really don’t care if it takes me a long time to find a Switch now, but I’ll definitely be buying the original version instead of the Lite.

This is perfect for someone who doesn't have a switch already. The teal color is very nice and I think at $200 its a good price.

Now the problem are the controllers. Is this finally going to fix the drifting on the joy cons? The most common problem are the drifting specially on the left joy con which I had to deal twice with already. I know the controllers are attached this time but if people end up experiencing this even when the controllers are attached then yikes....

I thought all Switch games support handheld mode? I hope that the addition of Lite will not change the availability of handheld mode for basic Switch because that's how I play all games. : c
Super Mario Party for example doesn't support handheld mode, same goes for games like Just Dance.
Overall, there are only a handful of games that doesn't support this mode. Also, keep in mind that the
Lite is just a alternative option for those people who doesn't have a Switch yet and can live with the fact
that the Lite missing features the baisc Switch has (and also wants to save some money). They will not
change the availability of handheld mode for the basic Switch at all, it will all remain the same. So don't
worry about it.

I think its a good cheaper alternative. How is the battery life on this compared to the original? also hopefully more colors are available later on.

It looks nice, but I think I'll pass on this one for now. I already use my Switch as a handheld. When I'm at home, I'm forced to use a a wired connection, so WiFi on the Switch Lite would be nearly impossible, since it doesn't connect to the dock. As for the battery life, I'm not worried about it either, since I have a Powerbank for whenever I need to charge my Switch on the go.

i might just get one just for portability's sake, i know you could take your regular switch everywhere with you but it's honestly pretty annoying to do so.

This is definitely something I’d get despite already owning a Switch.

I mean, longer battery life, I always play on handheld. This is the Switch I have been wanting for.

The Lite looks really great! I like the Sword & Shield design. I'm probably still going to get a basic Switch though. I'm old and my eyes will probably appreciate the bigger screen. Plus hubby & I are really excited to play NH together on my island and we were excited we could play it on the TV so the basic Switch will meet my needs better.
