And from there, back to that day again and still get the same price?

If you leave the time period with the "spike" turnip price, I believe you will lose the particular turnip price.

Also, if you time travel within your own town, either backwards or to a future date that is beyond the next 6am Sunday, with turnips on hand (either carrying them, or while they are in your town), the turnips will spoil.

You can time travel when visiting another town and your tunips will not spoil.

Also, you can time travel to a Sunday morning, buy turnips repeatedly, then visit another town, like this one, to sell turnips.
