Opinions on Crafting

When you upgrade to normal tools they last wayyy longer. I can use my fishing rod for a good few hours continuously at least before it breaks. That's fine by me tbh, don't mind replacing them every couple of hours. Gold tools will probably last ages before breaking.

I love the crafting, but i wish it was somewhat more balanced and that you could multiple items at once.
On the whole it's a fun new adition though, i really like the many different ways you can get recipes and the sense of creating something yourself rather than just buying everything.

It may be off topic to discuss item durability here, but I think Nintendo should increase the durability on all items by 3x.

Example:
Wooden fishing pole: - 30 fish, up from 10.
Iron reinforced fishing pole: - 90 fish, up from 30.

I like it a lot.

The only thing I would change is to be able to craft multiples at the same time. Oh and to have separate inventory space for the first set of tools would be great. Any extras you want to bring along could go in your pockets.

The fishing rod from "Pretty Good Tools" last for 30 fish, which for me is only 15 minutes.

I don't like it, but only because I have to keep my resources in my inventory. I wish I could just store it and use it wherever I am. It's annoying to have to keep going back and forth.

I feel like there should be a special bin/crate placed outside that we can load up with crafting materials, and then have all crafting benches pull directly from it when crafting.

My house storage right now is 90% wood. And I am really lazy about having to run to my house to get wood everytime I want to craft something.

I also have materials just lying around my town just so I can have more inventory space.

Yeah I feel like increased durability is a good idea. I am filling my pockets with like 5 axes because I know they will all break before I'm done and I dont want to keep going back and forth.

I would love that. I now currently have 3 DIY benches spread around my town (one of the 3 is the default in Resident Services) and have been considering placing more due to tool breakage issues. It's annoying when you're trying to gather resources or fish or catch bugs and your tool breaks... again.

I've been using exclusively regular (ie non-flimsy) tools since I unlocked them, and they still break too often for my tastes. I mean, I managed to get the Nook Miles reward for breaking 20 tools last night, for crying out loud. :(

I like it because I harvest resources regularly so I don’t really have problems with crafting.

Overall, I think it's a fun new feature and I like some furniture being gotten through other methods than buying/randomly getting. The materials fill up inventory space fast, though, and I often end up dumping them near a work bench x3

What I really DON'T like is breakable tools - flimsy ones, sure, but anything beyond that... no. When first hearing about tools breaking I assumed and hoped that was just the flimsy beginner tools, but unfortunately that wasn't the case... it's not even been a week and I already find it a pain having to go bavk just to recraft tools over and over and over. Apparently even gold tools eventually break? Considering setting up work benches all over my island so I'll at least have one close by at all times x3

I really really love the crafting even though I thought I would hate it. Something about exploring islands, stocking up on resources and being able to craft anything I want given I have the recipe, feels so good. The only thing I wish for is multi crafting instead of doing fences or bait one by one.

When the game was first announced I was really not looking forward to crafting, because I thought that the craftable furniture would mostly be outdoor/camping theme and that's not really my aesthetic. But, I am pleasantly surprised! I really like a lot of the items you can craft, and I like how varied the theme of craftable items is. I also love the customization feature, which was so tedious to me in New Leaf. Still, I wish I could craft things like tools, medicine, and fish bait in bulk since it's pretty annoying to keep going through the menus just to craft 10 bait.

I love the crafting and customizing. It feels really good to find new recipes you like and then actually making them. I was basically doing backflips because I was able to finish of my orchard fencing becausr I got the simple wooden fence recipe.

I think especially with furniture as well and being able to add patterns to it, it really makes your house stand out more.
The breaking tools can get annoying, but its easy and cheap to make them, so thats ok and the upgrades last a decent amount of time.

I don't mind the crafting, and finding new recipes is fun. But I wish materials would take up a lot less space (too many different types!) - between the tools and the materials, space is really limited. I also don't like having my tool break right in the middle of a fishing or bug catching excursion. I don't have a lot of time to play and it gets annoying to have to spend it preparing to do something and running back and forth to sell or fix a tool.

i really like it! i've had friends make diy stuff for me when i didn't have the recipe and vice versa. i like making items to put in my house or outside and i like the idea of "building" my town up. the task of making the furniture for the first 3 plots was one of my favorite things i've done so far in the game!

edit: i forgot to include, my only gripe with crafting is that i wish i could craft things like fish bait in multiples

I have to admit, I was so excited to have storage in the house and to be able to increase our inventory size because I hoard so much. But I can't fit any spare items or furniture in my storage because it is full with resources XD
