Price of New Horizons

I didn't mean to imply you didn't understand what living expenses are.
I'm also an adult with the same expenses and a few others (health and whatnot).

I don't mind paying the $80, it just would have been nice if the game was complete. As in holidays not being downloadable events.

I don't think not having events pre downloaded means it's not complete. It's probably to keep events fresh and keep people from replaying the same thing every year.... if anything I feel like it makes the game more complete.

Yes, Walmart always sells the games for $10 cheaper in store. I am not sure why.

They want you to come into the store...and then see a bag of chips and ooh if you have chips you need soda and oh yeah I think we are out of garlic and don't I need a box of envelopes?

People don't get as carried away shopping online but walking thru a store can lead to impulse buying. Thats why they price to move units.

I'm so guilty of this at Walmart.

"I only need this.. I only need this.."

> two six packs of diet coke, some chips, tiolet paper that was on sale, etc later

"Gosh darn it..."

I know they played me like a fiddle, and I hate it so much lol

My first thought was that it's meant to discourage TT. My second thought was that they wanted to change the holidays every year. Not that it's unfinished.

Oh me too.

I'll go to the store with my boyfriend and he will just hear a crinkle as I toss something into the cart. "Were chips on the list?"

*Guilty look*

I haven't pre-ordered yet - looks like I might buy from Walmart if they keep it at $49.95.

$60 is the standard now for Switch games. Pokemon was historically $40 and under for handheld games but went up to $60 for SwSh

Reading through these replies made me realize how expensive switch games are! I had no idea.

Exactly. I don't think DLC or free downloads like this means a game is "incomplete," and even if they did implement this to prevent TT'ing as far as I'm concerned free new events are just a plus. Switch games prices are generally around the same, so why complain about a game that was delayed to ensure it was complete that's now offering more content.

Most AAA console games are $60. PS4, Xbox, and now Switch. Its standard. Game dev costs have actually gone up a lot compared to the game you got in the 90s.

Indie games also exist, so you can have great gaming experiences even if you need to wait for AAA games to go on sale.

I'm buying a switch just for this game haha
talk about expensive :p

How exactly can you get the game at 49.95 in Walmart? Do you have to go in store and preorder there? I?m not finding it at this price and just wondering. Is this offer from the US?

Offer is in US yes, and it only applies when the game is in store. So it will be $49.99 on March 20 as soon as you walk into the store.

It may just depend on the Walmart.

Yeah for a AAA title it?s priced pretty fairly I think. That being said I have been playing mostly indie games on the switch cause of price but happy to spend the extra on animal crossing because I know I?ll play it for years.

$60 is the main base price for big major games. So the price is nothing new. This is not just nintendo, but with the playstation and xbox.

New leaf was $40 when it released. $40 was the base price for 3ds games. Just because New Leaf is $20 right now doesn't mean New Horizons should too. New Leaf is $20 right now because its a nintendo selects title. If Lew Leaf wasn't a nintendo selects title it would be selling for full price right now or a couple bucks cheaper.

Game prices for nintendo titles hardly ever drop. They're not like the playstation. Let me use Kinhdom Hearts 3 as an example that dropped early 2019 for $60 you know how much it was during the holidays? $20. Don't we all wished that happened with nintendo.

For me jumping from $40 to $60 was something I wasn't happy about. But after 2+ years its nothing to me noe. I've gotten used to it.

New Leaf was $35 when it released, in the US at least.

Just go to your local Walmart in release date. They've been doing this for a long time now. Probably to compete with Target and Amazon.

I kind of agree with you here that I wish we did not have to download updates for events as they should be built into the game. Hopefully this means though that there will be more new items throughout the years as there will be more updates vs. a set amount of items begging to end.
