I have carved pumpkins a few times and have to say I don't think it is very easy. For one, the surface is curved which makes some designs look a bit wonky so take that into consideration (just like egg designing, but on a large scale). Because of the curve the knife tends to slip around a fair amount too (plus the waxy and kinda slippery surface doesn't help with that). I found it hard to make very detailed carvings on my pumpkins, often slipped and accidentally cut too far into an area etc.Question for those using a real pumpkin: It is hard to carve a pumpkin? I have never carved and made a Jack o lantern before and was wondering how hard it is to cut. Do I need to buy the tool kits I see for sale or are they unnecessary?
I’ve cut up pumpkins before for eating, which is not the same thing since I cut into wedges with a cleaver, but I assume I can’t cleaver my way through it I wanna make a design with a pumpkin.
Any advice and tips would be appreciated!
Yes - that's fine! I would count things inside the pumpkin as part of the pumpkin's decoration itself.I have an idea, but IDK if it's going to get accepted:
Can I do a pumpkin with Wisp inside? Like, I want part of his head to be peeking out. But then I'm going to try and make the pumpkin the focal point by putting a face or some other decoration on it. Will it work?
