• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

Random thoughts thread. (New Horizons)

Um..Marshal. Your curtain isn't looking so good.
(it was actually flickering, but I didn't want to give anyone a headache.)

I kind of want the Flea Market in Wild World and City Folk to return. It’s always fun to gather a lot of fossils and rare bugs and fish and then scam- I mean, offer my villagers wonderfully cheap prices for them. 😌 You can get a lot of bells out of your villagers because they’ll buy things for almost 3x the price.

Or the Auction House from City Folk. That would be a great way to obtain hard-to-find items being sold by other players.

So this is how I'm planning on designing Playground.

Looks like a mess but believe me, it will look a lot better than this pic is giving it credit for.

How did I not know the Colorful lightstick was a thing ? I've always wanted the light stick in other colors, and randomly rolled it at Redd's raffle. Ummm let's go

These are the cards I have left and then I will have all 504 Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards.

I can see the finish line!!!

There was only one time I wanted to have Raymond in my island. It was because I wanted to exploit his popularity to obtain a Flower Glow Wand (which I eventually got, but then gave it away, now regret it). By the time he did show up in my campsite, it was already too late. I was too comfortable with the ten villagers I have on my island, he now has an amiibo card, and I wasn’t active on TBT at the time.

I said i would renovate my NH island

I did for a while and I haven't touched the game for almost more than a month

I’m trying to get Megan or Cephalobot to get the thought bubble and move but the wrong villagers keep getting it, or they want me to come visit them. I know I can kick them out with my amiibos but I want to do it this way do I can go island hopping for villagers.

I forgot how slow the early game in this entry is. Wow.

Why do villagers insist on being the way of your terraforming. I finally started on the terraforming on Playground. I am doing a waterfall behind my museum similar to how I did back in 2020 and the waterfall is in the top right corner of my map. I had flattened my island so it's completely flat and empty. I had mannequins up for like the last week because I did a rock garden. No one was ever over in this top right corner. Now that I'm trying to make the waterfall all of a sudden all my villagers are over here in this area, exercising, sitting down near the water and just in the way when there is a whole island they can be on. And then they get angry when you push them out the way.

So I came up with an idea. Kind of like a construction zone. I'm going to start putting fencing down where I'm working at, effectively keeping villagers away. Because while it might be cute how they are curious about the work being done, they are in the way.

I tend to find that villagers frequent near rivers and ponds quite often. I mean, this picture below pretty much proves my point:

Fishing Tourney But No Rivers.jpg

Of course, this was during a fishing tourney, but I've ran into many scenarios of villagers sitting next to the river in odd places. They'll even block the path, as the river I have on Wahu has a 1x1 walking path between the rivers and fences. It's kind of annoying when this happens when I'm trying to fish quickly.

Unrelated, but this was a different island I made on my old Switch, flattened, then completely restarted as I wasn't satisfied with the Resident Services placement. Having nothing but cat and deer villagers was pretty cool.

If I ever start another island, I would love to do a jungle / tomb raider / ruins inspired island in the mist that also serves as a kind of board or adventure game. Maybe finding hidden items, treasures, secrets, etc.

(Just a random idea!)

When I first played Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I had no idea what the game is going to be like, which is why I time-traveled back and forth too frequently and had a hard time planning my island. But now that it’s been four years since it came out, I know how to plan the second island.

With Raymond moving to my island tomorrow, I've been thinking about changing his catchphrase for a while. "Crisp" is swell, but I like "brutal" better. (context: it's because of this villager OC that I grew enamored with. And Raymond's design is kinda similar to theirs, in a way.)

I wish I wasn't always so busy with other things during the day - I usually only open up Animal Crossing at like midnight, so of course all the shops are closed and half of my villagers are asleep! I do feel like NH has the most to do at night out of all the other AC games I've played though; it feels DEAD in WW and NL, whereas at least in NH it does somehow still feel a little more alive.
