I'm in the middle of designing my central room, and it's been absolutely frustrating, because nearly every single rug in the game does not speak to my personal tastes, and the ones that do are seasonal exclusive. But on the other hand, the distinct lack of rugs makes the room look dreadfully barren. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on rugs that would compliment this color scheme, while not drawing too much attention to itself.

Here's a screenshot of the general layout. Bear in mind that this is still a work in progress, and so a lot of items are just placeholders. Also, I've been going back and forth between a few different floor types, so it doesn't have to be something that necessarily compliments this specific one.

A few other preferences I have in mind, but aren't really make or break details:
  • The rug doesn't overlap the entrance of the backroom. (The assymetry of some of these rugs drives me insane!!)
  • Uses a warm color palette (more on the side of reds and browns than soft blues)
  • Looks good in dim lighting.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You may need to move your furniture around some if you don't like the asymmetry, maybe try building a setup in the middle of the room.

Here's a few rugs I would suggest

Under the table and couch
Lacy Rug, Sunflower Rug or White Rose Rug

The Piano area
Red Argyle Rug
Red Wavy Rug

Doormat
Small Paradise Planning Mat

Nice but large rugs
Red Blocks Rug
Large Paradise Planning Rug
Red Persian Rug

Hope this helps! :)
btw I can order you any rug for 1 tbt each and seasonal for 3 tbt ea, if you're interested.

Thank you! I'll definitely look into some of those!

Unfortunately, I do not have a subscription to NSO, or I'd happily take you up on that offer.

I took some liberties to play around in Room Sketch to see if I could utilize some of the rugs and keep the overall theme?

I gave up in the front half and tried to estimate where the doorways were. I found the stripe-whatever this rug is called can look decent. I leaned towards more yellow accents and I tried to section this room into different parts like bar and piano party area. It might help you a bit in terms of making this space look lived in and not too empty feeling. If you don't like anything shown, I would say explore more furniture placements, make interesting negative space and play with some color accents.

I'm admittedly not a huge fan of the black and yellow combination, but I am absolutely tickled by the bar and am kicking myself for not thinking of it myself. What's that furniture behind the counter? A medicine cabinet? Also, the furniture beside it, beneath the painting?
